  • WRT160N Slow Internet Connect Speed, while connected wired.

Ive tried two of these routers both from best buy, I took the other one back thinking it was a problem with the router which it still maybe.  But, I have 20meg internet and when I run a speed test im only getting 6-7megs.  When I directly connect the modem to the computer I get the full speed with no problems.  I used to use the old BEFSR41 router and that always had max speed(Now the power light flashes on it, it goes steady then it starts blinking if anyone could help me with this one to would be great).  But I don't know what to do.
    Thanks.
    Justin.

Open the setup page of the router and reduce the MTU to 1350 and click on save settings..Power cycle the router and check...On the BEFSR41 as the power light keeps flashing..it seems that it gone bad...However you may try by resetting the router for 1 minute and if the power light stops blinking then, you can configure the router.

  • Max speed 1.0Mbps?

Why is the max speed that I get with my WRT150N 1.0Mbps?  It doesn't matter where I'm at in the house, it doesn't matter if its an HP laptop, Dell laptop etc...the max speed i get is 1.0Mbps?

What is the speed you are getting when you connect the computer straight to the Modem...?
What is the speed you are getting on the wired computer(computer connected to the router via ethernet cable)...?
Try upgrading your Router's Firmware and then reconfigure it...
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • My macbook internet download speed is extremely slow. I have tried other computers both windows and mac on the same line and speeds are normal. What is the problem?

My macbook internet download speed is extremely slow. I have tried 2 other computers, another mac and windows and the download speed is over 10mb but with this macbook pro it is less than 1mb. What is causing this and how to fix?

To find out how much space you have & what is left, open up Disk Utility/Machintosh HD/First Aid.  The info will be at the bottom of the window.
Sluggish Finder - Bunch of icons on your desktop?  An overcrowded desktop slows down your Mac.
Get rid of needless Finder calculations - Open a window in Finder/View/Show View Options:  ensure "Calculate All Sizes" option is unchecked.
Internet related - It's likely that your broadband connection is the bottleneck.  You can check your speed on http://www.speedtest.net to see how fast your connection is.  If your web browser specifically performs slowly, quit and relaunch it.
If browser remains sluggish, empty its cache.
    Safari/Empty Cache
Firefox/Preferences - select the Network tab of the Advanced preferences and click the "Clear Now" button in the "Offline Storage" area.
Application related - Launch "Activity Monitor" - Applications/Utilities - click the CPU heading and see what float to the top.  If an application takes up a large chunk of CPU and won't let it go, it could be dragging down your Mac's performance.  Quit it by clicking the Quit Process button at the top of the Activity Monitor window.
Too little ram - max out your ram.
Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

Since updated to 10.9.5, my Mac Pro Internet download speed down to 7 Mbps,
and same on My MacBook Pro 10.9.5 too. both use to be 70 Mbps.
I am paying $50.00 extra to get the highest speed from Time Warner.
My iMac is 10.9.3, tops 70 Mbps.
My iPhone 5s tops tops 30 Mbps
    All in same WiFi network.
Upload speed all seem to be fine with 5 Mbps.

Even the 'respected' tools like Onyx, if you look at what (each and every update) states in the "what is new" and changes will be to improve compatibility.
Never use or install anything (and I include OS X updates in that category) without cloning your system and having TimeMachine that is current, and backup(s) that will be off line.
Some cannot be trashed or deleted or removed without using an "uninstall app" or the installer, doing so without can mean having to reinstall first.
Or wipe the drive and restore from a known good backup set.

  • Slow Internet Connection Speeds caused by Ethernet Controller Driver

Problem:  Internet connection speeds are 1/10 of available connection speed.
    1. Problem statement is based on running speed tests at cnet, speedtest.net, and AT&T.
    2. I am paying for 12 MBps down load speed but I only get about 1.5 MBps.
    3. Other computers in household get 11+ MBps connected to the same ethernet cable and also different ethernet cables.
    4. I traced the problem to the network controller driver.
    5. I updated to the latest driver with no change in performance.
    6. After some experimenting I found that if I re-install the driver after the computer is booted up, the internet connection down load speeds increase to 11+ MBpS (typically around 11.4 with maximum capability of 12)
I have assumed that the driver does not load properly the first time, but why?  Or is there some other cause or setting that I have overlooked?

  • Internet download speed slows to 20% of normal every night at about 8:30 P.M. Pacific Time

My internet download speed, which averages just over  5 Mb/s most of the day, slows to about 1 Mb/s every night at about 8:30-9:00 P.M. Pacific Time and lasts for a few hours.  It is consistent and constant so random equipment or line problems are unlikely.  I've saved the results of my speed tests (speedtest.net) as to evidence the problem and posted them below.

Looks and sounds like the usual case of congestion during prime time hours. Have you tried asking Verizon to change the circuit or edge router your DSL line connects to, in order to solve the problem? Often times there seems to be an imbalance in how circuits are loaded on Verizon's DSL network. It's a rather typical experience for a shared medium (such as DSL, Cable) but steps can be taken to try and balance off load periodically. Verizon should have some free circuits available that will allow you to reach your speeds during the night time hours.

  • How to increase internet access speed of OS X 10.5.8 whilst using telstra prepaid wirless broadband internet stick in Darwin, Australia

Is it possible  to increase internet access speed of Mackbook Pro OS X 10.5.8 whilst using telstra prepaid wirless broadband internet stick in Darwin, Australia?
    How can i do this?

Network Utility (in the Utilities folder) can tell you, in the Info pane, what speed you are actually connecting at.
Just set the interface to the one you are using (which may show up as en2 or something). Link Staus and speed are shown along with error counts.
If the data rate is very different from what you expected, you may have it manually set to a lower rate.
YouTube files are enormous -- that may be the best it can do.

  • Low internet download speed when on battery (have tried previously given fix)

There is a drastic fall in internet download speeds when laptop is running on battery power. As soon as I plug it in, the internet speeds return to normal.I have already changed the wireless settings to high performance in the power management profile. How do I solve this problem?Any help is appreciated. Also, my laptop is only a couple days old.

Hi there ,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I have looked into the issue you are having with Battery Performance and I found a couple of documents for you to try.  The first document I found is called HP Notebook PCs - Managing Power Options (Windows 8). In this document it shows you how to create your own Power Plan.  The second document I found is called HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8). You can test and calibrate the battery to make sure that it is not an issue with the battery itself.  Please follow these provided troubleshooting steps, re-post and let me know how everything went. Thank you! Have a great day!

  • Linksys router EA6200 slow speed, low max speed, Configuration issue

    Hi Guys,
I am using Comcast internet 105MBPS speed and I am using NETGEAR DOCSIS 3.0 High Speed Cable Modem (CM400-100NAS) model and I am connecting linksys EA6200 router.
I am getting 90 to 100 Mbps if I connect my laptop with modem directly, but if I connect my laptop over wifi or connect router with laptop using wired connection as well, I am only getting 30 to 40 Mbps speed.
Can you pleaes help me? what did I wrong.  Please let me know if you need more information.
    Regards,
    -Dhaval M.

Do a network reboot (router and modem) and check again the speed. If you'll get the same result, try a manual firmware update and after that, reset and reconfigure the router.
Adjusting the MTU size might help as well. To determine the best size, go to this link.

I guess you are speaking about the Satellite L855 series since this model mentioned in your subject.
I dont think that Satellite L855 supports an SATA III HDD controller.
I think its SATA I, maybe SATA II
My notebook supports SATA I (1.5Gb/s) and I upgraded the unit with an SSD SATA III drive (6Gb/s). The SSD works fine but of course it does not reach the full 6Gb/s due to the HDD controller limitation.

  • Max speed with Auto Flip?

    Hi!
I need to scan a few pdf documents at fast speed as part of my work. I set the Auto Flip speed to 0.02 seconds in page transitions. Is this speed too fast for a 60Hz monitor? Will Acrobat be able to display all pages at this speed or will it miss some pages out? Also, is there a drop in quality this way or will all the images and text be catched and displayed in full quality at 0.02sec autoflip speed?

    Hello,
if you are referring to the two serial interfaces on your 2503, these are high-speed serial interfaces, which support speeds up to 2048kbps, or roughly 2MB.
