IP4200 No Longer Printing after Restore

Just had to back-up (to an external firewire HD)and restore my HD - bad block was found. Reformatted using Disk Utility, then restored. Had a problem because computer acted as if I was a new user - had to set up another user account with all my settings from before, which I use as my main log-in account now, with administration priviliges. Everything works as before now, except for printing. Whenever I try to print, I get "Error While Printing" Error message. Reinstalled combo updater (10.4.6), reinstalled printer driver from Canon, even reset printing - nothing works. Here's my latest log entries from Console since reinstalling combo updater:

Hi Patrick,
I replied to your most recent posting with some questions about your backup before I found this posting that had more information.
I had a look at the Carbon Printing Reference Manager for the two error codes you are getting and found the following:
Error -50 (kPMInvalid Parameter) - a required parameter is invalid or missing
Error -30871 (kPMOutOfScope) - your application called this function out of sequence with other Carbon Printing Manager functions.
Basically it looks like you have a big problem with the core Carbon Printing Manager. I would reinstall OS X from your 10.4.? disk and select Archive and Install. Then I would run the 10.4.6 update and finish with adding the printer driver.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.

It appears I can no longer print from Internet Explorer 9.
Clicking on gear icon and selecting the Print item, shows the Microsoft XPS Document Writer is highlighted instead of the HP Laserjet 1018 as I expect. When I select the HP Laserjet 1018, the Print Button becomes grayed-out.
Attemping to print from Adobe Reader X also hangs the application.
However, printing is working when using Open Office.
I cannot recall if I attempted to print between the time these 2 updates were installed, so cannot determine which is the cause of the problem.

Sounds like you've run into some printer issues since your most recent update. First I wold recommend removing the software and then going to the HP website and re installing the software from the direct driver downloads.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.

Can no longer print after MacOS 10.6.8 upgrade

I used to have full Reader functionality on my core duo 2006 era MAcbook. Since I upgraded to OS 10.6.8 I can no longer print. I get a print error that says "No pages selected to print" even though I clearly selected the whole document.
Nor do on line pdf forms on websites seem to recognize it when I fill them in. I tried version 9.5, 10.x and 11.02. The latter 11.02 will not run at all on my computer even though it installs OK.

Samsung 4500 Printer won't print after restoring from Time Machine

My HD drive went down, and was replaced with a new one (1TB). Restored via Time Machine. But the printer (Samsung) won't print now. I get an error that a software update is required. I tried the System Preferences route; then I went to Samsung and downloaded a driver (once), that didn't work. I found another note that someone was having a similar problem, and tried this download

I would try two things. First go to the store for your phone carrier and get a new sim card.
If that doesn't work, schedule and appointment with a genius at your closest apple store.

My cannon MF8350 will no longer print after upgrading to mavericks

My printer is on a network that was running fine with Mountain Lion. Yesterday I upgraded to OS X and now when I go to print I get the message, "printer is not responding." I've tried restarting the computer, the printer, reloading the printer to the network using bonjure. It finds the printer on the network but I still get the message when I go to print a document.

I suspect that an old driver is in use. Try Resetting Print System and then add again and try printing.

7210 will no longer print.

My 7210 All-in-one no longer prints (after 3 years of service). It will still scan and copy, but the printer is no longer recognized. I have an HP computer with Windows Vista, 64-bit. The default , printer is Microsoft XPS Document writer, but the 7200 is no longer listed as an option. I have tried a system restore, to an earlier date when it did print, but I get an error message that the system restore did not work. Don't know why, but something about not all files were included, but I am choosing the C drive with my system files so I don't know what that problem is either. HELP!

If the printer was printing fine prior to the ink change, please remove the recently installed ink tanks and print head from the printer, then reseat them in the printer, ensuring that all tape has been removed from the bottom of the ink tanks. Installing the new os may have tricked one of the three devices involved. If it used to work, it will again.
Reboot the printer.   Reboot the router. On the pad, general, reset, reset network connections.
Make sure all the devices are on the same wifi network.   Talk nice to it.

Epson printer driver no longer working after 10.4.11 update

It seems that my original Epson driver for my Stylus Photo 750 is no longer working after my latest Tiger update. The system does recognise it but shows an exclamation mark behind it and refuses to print with it (the document stays in the waiting line forever). Reinstalling as well as repairing permissions didn´t help. Fortunately the Gimp Epson driver is still working but I have no access to my coloursync profiles with this driver.
I know that many printer drivers need to be rewritten for Leopard (one of the reasons I didn´t update yet) but it is not understandable why problems happen with a Tiger update.
Does anyone know a workaround?

I just discovered a similar problem. I have an old Epson SC3000 and under 10.4.11 my computer doesn't communicate with the printer. It's an AppleTalk printer, connected via Ethernet. I tried bypassing my network switch and connected it directly to the Mac-- no go. I then rebooted into 10.3.9 and printing works fine.
I downloaded the driver from Epson and installed it in 10.4.11. When I try to add the printer in the Printer Setup Utility, the machine just hangs-- can't force quit the utility and eventually the Finder even stops responding. It takes a hard reboot to clear up.
I can't say whether or not printing worked in earlier versions of 10.4. I haven't been using 10.4 for very long, and I rarely use the SC3000.
