.ipa file doesn't open my home

i have loaded the .ipa onto my iPad now, everything works well but everytime i open it, it goes back to the status i last closed it on.
I want it to open my home page every time it is opened.
Hopefully it is just a case of clicking a button?

No, the viewers are designed to work that way so that readers can return to the place they were last looking at without leaving a bookmark. Unfortunately, there isn't a Reset button. Triple-tapping the folio title in the nav bar resets the folio.

I received an email containing pdf files. I am using Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8. File doesn't open. I am a new user to Windows 8.

The full featured Reader for Windows 8 is Reader XI.
Reader Touch works in all Windows 8 systems BUT it is intended mainly for use in mobile tablets - I see no particular reason to use it unless you can'r run Reader XI. Given it is mainly for use on mobile that can't use Flash, we aren't likely to ever see the development team spending their time on this.
If you want the latest and greatest - at least try Reader XI, not X! (Flash is a separate download, it will prompt).

  • Lightroom opens Photoshop CS4 for edit but file doesn't open

I have tried looking for this thread but have not found it... 447 threads are a lot to scan...
When I try to edit a Lightroom 2.3 file in Photoshop CS4 Extended, Photoshop launches but the file does not open (same for all other edit options: layers, pano, etc.) and the follows box appears in Lightroom: "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS4 could not be launched"...
I have Windows XP Home Edition with SP3... over 3GB Ram... and all current Adobe updates...

Ah, now in that case this is where you'll find everything that you need to know, including access to the download. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4579
Having said that, with a Mac doesn't Camera Raw install automatically from within CS4 by choosing Update from within the Help menu?
Oh, and another thing. If you open CS4, go up to Help, from the drop-down choose About > Camera Raw. If it indicates 5.5 then the raw plug-in is already installed in the correct location. It won't show if it's not installed in the correct location.

  • Links to files doesn't open in a new window

I've noticed that links (that refers to a specific file) created in Adobe Indesign doesn't open in a new window like the links that refers to a website when I autoconverts it in Acrobat Pro X.
    Example:
LINK1: http://www.acrobat.com/testfile.pdf <--- does not open in a new window when clicked
LINK2: http://www.acrobat.com/testfolder <--- opens in a new window when clicked
Are there any way to fix this?
Will the same problem occur if I create the links in Acrobat instead?
I'm asking this because I don't want the form to disappear when the links are clicked.
    Best,
    Mikey

Firefox should divert the new window to a new tab when you check this box in Google's Search Settings:
"Open search results in a new browser window"
I can't think of any reason for Firefox to divert a new window back into ''the same tab''.
In case one of your add-ons is the culprit, could you try Firefox's Safe Mode?
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox using Help>Restart with Add-ons Disabled. Don't check any of the boxes in the [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] dialog, just Continue in Safe Mode.
    Does it make any difference?

  • Double-clicking on files doesn't open them

    Just started today:
If I navigate to a file in the Finder and double-click on it, nothing happens. It doesn't open. If I open the application (e.g., MS Word) and go to the file menu and choose Open, navigate to the file, the file will open. But it happens in all applications, not just Word -- double-clicking on any file won't open the file in its parent application. It's like the link between files and apps has been lost.
I restarted the Finder twice, restarted the whole computer twice, repaired Permissions with Disk Utility -- nothing has helped. Still can't open files by double-clicking on them.
    Am I missing something?
    Tx,
    WK

    Kappy,
Followed these "Get Info" box instructions for two different files and their apps -- the correct apps were already listed as the Default, but I reselected them and "Changed All" again anyway. Still no change. Double-clicking on these docs in the Finder does not open files or the files creator Application. The only way I can still launch files and the proper App is through Control-click and "Open with" command.
I even deleted the com.apple.finder.plist and restarted, thinking the Finder prefs file might be corrupt, but still no change, so took the original plist file out of the Trash and put it back in the Library>Preferences folder and restarted again. No change.
THEN - a breakthrough. I checked the Keyboard/Mouse Prefs Pane and the double-click speed for the mouse was set completely to the right. I backed it off one "notch", went back to the Finder and double-clicked on a Word file and Voíla! -- the file and Word opened as it should.
Went back to the Mouse Prefs Pane and moved the Double-CLick Speed indicator all the way to the right again ("Fast") and went back to Finder and focused on double-clicking files as fast as I could and they opened fine.
SO -- I'm embarrassed to say that I just wasn't double-clicking fast enough. Not sure how the Speed indicator got moved so far to the right, but I have backed it off a notch to a normal double-click speed that I've used for years, and all seems to be working.
Thanks again for all your help -- I learned some good things about how to connect files and apps which will no doubt come in handy in the future.
    Wk

  • Download file doesn't open

Then downloading file i cannot open the file

If "Open" and "Open Containing Folder" are grayed in the Download Manager then your anti-virus software may have removed the files.

  • Doubleclick on file doesn't open related application

This has happend with a few applications...for example, Photoshop. Double clicking on a file that would normally open in photoshop results in nothing happening. I've also tried click and dragging to the application in the dock..nothing happens. Only when I open the application and open the file from within the application does that file end up opening.
It could very well be an adobe problem but I've yet to see if applications from other suites will react the same way. I'll have to check my other applications in the meantime.

The problem is specific to Photoshop when you do an upgrade install of the OS from Panther to Tiger. A file PS needs in the Library gets left behind in the Previous System folder:
    "/Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types"
You can either reinstall Photoshop, or you can download the file here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/francines/pdfs/AdobeTypes.zip
Unzip, then create the ScriptingAdditions folder (notice there is NO space in the name) in the Library folder and put the unzipped file in the folder.

  • File doesn't open all the time

I have created a numbers file that has several different sheets and on each sheet different tables.
There is a lot of referencing in the file from one table to another.
First it was about 307Kb (14 sheets) and then, adding some new sheets (up to 19) and tables it went up to 549 Kb, that's when the problem started. Sometimes the file opens, sometimes it doesn't, I get the colored ball and I can only force quit. When I re-start the computer it mostly opens.
What can be the reason for this? Is there a maximum of referencing (there are lots of VLOOKUP's?
    Best regards,

    (1) It seems that something is wrong in your system so First point keep a backup of a version which open.
    (2) as the odd behaviour doesn't strike at every attempt, trying to open in an other user account will not be fully meaningful but try to do it.
If it fail, we will know that the oddity is not specific to your original account.
    (3) If we can't know if the problem is specific to your account, quit the app and move its preference file :
    <startupVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Numbers. plist
    on the desktop
Restart the app and use it this way for a period of time.
If the problem disappear, we will know that the culprit was the preferences file.
    (4) save you document with an other name as a Numbers '08 one.
I guess that some formulas will be dropped in the process but don't worry.
Open the newly created '08 document with Numbers '09.
During the process, I hope that possible oddities will be dropped.
Open also the original '09 document so, you will be able to easily use copy-paste to restore thge formulas which may be gone in the process.
    (5) as the oddity strike randomly, we can't exclude a material problem :
a Ram failure, a HD failure
So, running the Harware test application available on the install DVD may be a good thing to do.
    (6) the problem is not linked to the number of VLOOKUPs
    (7) I quite forgot to urge you to check the document memory requirement.
Before opening it or even before launching Numbers, launc "Activity Monitor" which is available in Applications:Utilities.
Then launch Numbers and at last, open the doc.
You will see how many Kbytes are required in RAM and on the HD (iWork apps make an heavy use of "virtual memory" which is HD space)
Maybe your installed RAM is a bit short or maybe your HD is too filled leaving an insufficient space for a correct behaviour.

  • Firefox doesn't open to Home Page

    Hello,
I upgraded to the most recent version of Firefox; now, when I open Firefox, there's just a white page instead of my Home Page. I've gone into options and made sure the correct site is listed to open to that page and made sure that "show my home page when firefox starts" is listed. everytime I start Firefox, I must reset my Home Page...everytime.
    Windows 7 64 bit
    Firefox 4.0.1

It is possible that there is a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

  • .osx file doesn't open

    Hi all,
I have a problem. Ik bought a book which is accompanied by a dvd. On dvd there is a file with a .osx extension. Now the readme file says I have to open that file in order to see the content on the dvd. This doesn't work. It is like a sort of autorun. Instead of running the dvd it opens the terminal. I ran into this problem before. Is there anyway to solve this problem?
    Thanks a lot,
    Cheers!

If you googled, ".osx file extension" you would come up with many links. One of which said:
Adobe director uses .osx as extension for the executable files, you can create.
Since Director can output its files as applications for both platforms, mac and Windows, you sometimes get files from windows developers, which do not know much about the mac platform and its requirements. Sometimes they do not even test on a MacOS. :-(
    and,
There is an easy enough workaround and that is to go onto the DVD and find the folder where the Quicktime movies are located and just run them manually.

  • Double clicking on file doesn't open file in Photoshop

I've tried all the well-known fixes for this and they don't work. I'm on a Power Mac G5, 2MHz, running OS X 10.4.11, and Photoshop CS. I've been through the fixes for "can't open in Photoshop from double clicking file on desktop"-reinstalling Photoshop, reinstalling, then trashing the new Photoshop, and physically moving "Adobe Unit Types" into the "Scripting Additions" folder. There was a time when that worked. not any more. What happens now is: I double click on a Photoshop Tiff file, never touched by Preview. Result: the OS opens the file in Preview. So I trash all copies of Preview. this is driving me crazy. Try again. The OS, this time, opens the file in Colorsync Utility! I've never heard of it. So I trash all copies of Colorsync Utility. Try it again. The OS opens the Photoshop file in Illustrator. It appears that no power on earth will force the OS to open the Photoshop file in Photoshop. nothing will work. Can anybody help?

Birck - as the others say you don't need to and shouldn't trash the other programs - I would recommend re-installing them asap. What you need to do is find the PS file you want to open and do a right-click over it and select 'get info' then find the 'open with' drop down menu and choose Photoshop. Once selected also click the 'change all' button below and close the get info window. Now all your PS files should open in the correct program :)
    Greg
Edit - oops didn't see this had already been answered - hope things are working better for you now.

  • Opening an ICS file doesn't open event in iCal

Opening an ICS file in Apple Mail no longer opens the event in iCal. I don't recall the last time it worked but I know, in the past, double clicking an ICS file in Apple Mail would open the actual event iCal so you could see and modify it. Now, the only thing that happens is iCal opens........and you then have to manually locate the event.
I have the option to Automatically Add invitations to iCal and that is working but I have quite a few users that want the previous functionality back. I know we can use the Quick Look Attachment option and see the event details but that's not as convenient as simply double clicking and going straight to the event.
I'm seeing this problem with 10.6 and 10.7.

Having the same problem here - it's driving me nuts!
I tried installing YAI, but I can't make it point to the correct calendar. I can cut and paste an event into the Google Calendar, but if it's an outlook invite it will delete the event on all the attendee's computers.

  • .CIN file doesn't open

    Hello,
I got a .CIN file from a student friend and I was looking for an application that opens this kind of files, so I was looking on the internet and I found out that Adobe Photoshop CS 6 opens them. To solve the pesky file association problem after installing a new Adobe Acrobat Reader software program in Windows XP, try this:
    1. RIGHT-CLICK on the icon of the older problem pdf file that youre trying to open.
    2. A menu window will appear. In this window, click open with.
    3. Another menu window will appear listing most of the programs on your had drive. If you have installed a new Acrobat Reader, it should be there. Click ONLY ONCE (do not double-click) on it to highlight it.
    4. In the same window, near the bottom -- but NOT in the list of programs -- there is box labeled Always use the selected program to open this kind of file. Click on this box.
    5. Click OK.
This should solve the problem for ALL Adobe Reader pdf files on your hard drive.
    Hope this helps!
