IPad 1 and Amazon Kindle App worked, but not after reset

The Amazon Kindle App worked on my iPad 1 until I did a reset to give the iPad to a friend after buying the iPad Air.  The Kindle App had been working with the current version of the OS.  Now when my friend tries to install the Kindle App, it indicates that the current Kindle App doesn't work with the current OS and says that it is downloading an earlier version.  Then it blows up and doesn't download.  Interesting that the Amazon Shopping App does the same thing. 
In talking with Amazon customer support, they indicate that the problem is with Apple.  They sent a long email indicating how it should work.  Sadly it doesn't.  The older version should be installed. 
When a problem exists between Amazon and Apple where does one go?  Pointing fingers at the other seems to be the answer.
All I know is that the Kindle App was working on the 3 year old iPad before I did a reset and now I can't download it.  The App Store needs to be fixed or the Kindle App needs to be fixed.  Help please.

One would presume that, if what you were told was true, Amazon has reported this problem to Apple and that Apple is working on a correction.
Perhaps this wil be corrected soon.

  • Firefox is not showing up at all, I will click on the application and it start to work but then after 2 seconds, its stops working.

    I will try to start firefox and then it stops working. It will work for about 2 seconds and then it goes to a blank screen. The screen is transparent and i can see my desk top threw firefox. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and firefox still will not work on my computer. I have run scans on my computer as well to see if it was a virus that was preventing it from running. If anyone could help me I would be very greatful.

    please also do an in-depth scan of your system with the security software already in place and/or a different tool like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & keep firefox and your plugins up-to-date in order to stay safe on the web.

    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Stuck in dock connecter mode but can also be switched to AirPlay and head phone jack works but not internal speaker?

    My Iphone 4S is all the time in dock connector mode. This give me no sound at all then ringtones. If I sett Music to use AirPlay, I get internal speaker to work. Then I have sound when I get SMS and other "biips". Else My 4S is quiet.  I can lisen to music in my headphones and it "biips" there.

    This is a hardware issue.
    To resolve this issue you need to try some unorthodox methods to get some results. Try to insert the headset back into the port and "wiggle" it while pulling it out and then inserting it back in. Try this a couple of times and see if this helps.
    The reason for this is because there's a "lever" or spring mechanism that got stuck. No hard reset or soft reset will fix this (I speak from experience).

    A = David_D (in USA), B = buddy (in Vienna Austria), C = Ralph Johns (in UK). Both A and B trying video iChat for first time. A has Mac Pro 10.4.9, B has Mac Book 10.4.9

    A shows okay internet speed test, ditto B
    A works with C, ditto B
    When A to B or B to A, we get insufficient bandwidth error

    Make sure all parties have at least 384K up and down.
    Make sure the Quicktime > Streaming in System Preferences is set to 1.5Mbps on all computers and iChat restarted if changed.
    Make sure the iChat > Preferences > Video section > Bandwidth Drop down is set to NONE.
    Use UPnP to avoid NAT issues

  • Sent mail "whoosh" sound not working on ios7 ipad. Sometimes incoming mail alert works but not all the time. Help!

    The whoosh sound is not working on out going mail. I've done everything in settings etc... Mute is not on... What the heck??? Any ideas?

    Settings>General>USE SIDE SWITCH TO>Lock Rotation.

  • PDF working, but not after download from site

    Hello,
    I have created a .pdf file using PDFlite from a Word document. The conversion works and I can open it without any problems. I upload the .pdf to my website to make it available for download by users, but when I download the file from the website and attempt to open it the reader tells me that there is a problem. The file is damaged or the file type is not supported - the generic error message.
    I uploaded the file to my website using Dreamweaver at first and then did it using FTP in binary mode and ASCII modes but none of them have allowed me to download a working copy. Can you please help?

    Good question, I'm not sure how I would find that out?
    Perhaps this is the problem. I have a page where I link to a php page like this:
    <a href="report.php">Click here to download it automatically.</a>
    And the report.php page contains this code:

    Perhaps I should do it differently? Or use another way? I did it this way because I wanted the download to start automatically.

    Virtually no images are displaying in Firefox, mainly background images - but on every website. Also, form elements are often not visible. Didn't happen before; new Vaio laptop running windows 7 - it can't all be bad coding. Yes, load images automatically is checked etc.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    Have you tried GoodReader? It claims to handle very large file sizes and it's very good for annotations. It's my PDF reader of choice on the iPad

    The key to all this is to click on/select/highlight the Album that you have created in Local Albums.
    Then make sure that the Sort By: (in the row below the highlighted "Media" header is set for Album Order.
    You should see a number at the top left of each of thumbnails.
    Then, click on the thumbnail that you want to move, hold down the click, and drag the thumbnail to the wanted new location
    in the line up of thumbnails.
    Often I had to press down hard on the drag.
    Please let us know if that worked for you.
    Also, in Edit Menu/Preferences/Keyword Tags and Albums/Enable Manual Sorting Options, I set all for manual.

    Here are the steps for AirPlay:
    Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring
    On your iPhone 4S/5 or iPad 2 or 3, double-click the Home  Button to view your recently-used apps.
    Swipe all the way to the right to until you see the  icon.
    Note: If the icon does not appear, go to the "If AirPlay Mirroring is not visible or available on your mobile iOS device" section.
    Tap the  icon to see the list of available AirPlay devices.
    Enable AirPlay Mirroring in this menu by tapping on an available Apple TV, then sliding the Mirroring slider to ON.
    Now you should be seeing your iPad/iPhone on your TV.
    Start up Azul now and using the settings icon on the top right corner go to the option that say "TV out" ON.
    When you do that you will see an Orange screen
    Now click "Done" and play the video you want to watch and it will AirPlay
