IPad 1 keeps closing apps

My original ipad which my wife now uses keeps closing apps and returning to the home screen. Internet connection stays

Have you tried to give the device a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that helps.

  • IPad keeps closing apps

I have an iPad mini and recently it's been acting up on me.
It keeps closing the apps I'm trying to open, as if they're crashing. I've tried to delete the apps, reinstall them, restart the iPad, "shock-start" it and resetting it and nothing works.
Especially the Facebook app keeps closing and the few times I actually get in, the picture keeps freezing and the whole thing just locks for a few seconds.
I don't know what else to do. I'm not sure if it's a problem with my apps (it's not every app that closes, but most of them) or if it's something with the iPad.
If anyone has any suggestion, I would be forever grateful!

    Hi there NinusenS,
At this point, I would recommend backing up all of your data, restore the device with iTunes, and set it up as a new device. After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.
If the issue is still present, you may want to contact Apple Support.
If the issue is now resolved, sync one type of content at a time back to the device. For example, if you had an issue playing music, add songs from iTunes and confirm they will play. If your contacts weren't loading successfully, add the contacts back. After each sync, test to see if the issue has returned.
Take a look at the article below for more information on how to back up and restore your data.

  • Why does my 1st gen. Ipad keep closing apps?

Why is my ipad 1 closing applications all the time? Is there a solution?

Closing apps typically indicates that the app is crashing.
You might try restoring your iPad by plugging it in to iTunes (latest version: 11.0.4).  Let it sync, then choose "Restore ..." from the iPad's summary page in iTunes.
You may wish to be selective in which apps you restore to the iPad, as one or more may be corrupt.

  • TS3274 My iPad keeps closing out of apps ...

My iPad keeps closing out of apps, wouldnt let me delete email..is my memory too full.

Did you try either of these?
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
What do you mean it wouldn't let you delete your mail? Is the mail app crashing? You can swipe across the email in the preview window in order to delete it. You do not have to open the email in order to delete it.

  • My ipad keeps closing my programs

my ipad keeps closing my programs

You may have too much going on in the background.
Double tap the home button to bring up your recent apps. Hold down on one of the app icons until they all wiggle. Then tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the apps and to close them. Close all of your apps. Tap the home button to stop the wiggling then tap the screen. Now reboot - hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. Hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and then let go of the button.
You can also try a reset by holding down on the sleep button and home button at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart.

  • My iPad keeps reinstalling Apps on subsequent syncs that were originally successfully deleted by unchecking the App box in iTunes

I'm having problems with iTunes reinstalling Apps that I want on my iPhone, but not my iPad. Furthermore, my household uses home sharing and if an App is on one iPad, iTunes puts it on all the devices. I found that if if I'm in iTunes with the iPad connected, I can delete Apps by unselecting the box for the App and then syncing it. All unselected Apps will be deleted this way, but that's where my problem starts. With the very next sync, all of the previously deleted Apps are then reinstalled. It seems that as long as the App is in my library, iTunes will reinstall it. I tried deleting the Apps directly from the device, and they're still reinstalled. The only way I can delete the Apps successfully is by deleting the App by unchecking the box and then syncing. Then I must delete the App from all devices in my home sharing network as well as my library. Here is where it really gets frustrating. If I want the App back on my iPhone by reinstalling it directly to the iPhone, iTunes will add it back  it to my iPad with the next sync.  My only option so far seems to be  to keep the Apps on all my devices, or none of my devices. To make matters worse, I have many of my daughter's Apps on my iPad and she has many of mine on her Mini-iPad (because of  home sharing). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've been having the same problem with my iPad most recently, and I think I may have an answer.  I have a lot of apps installed and more that are not installed. I sync with iTunes once every few months; however, I regularly update my apps directly on the iPad.  Whenever I sync with my computer, iTunes will copy the latest purchases from my iPad (including the latest updates) to the computer.
What I've noticed is that iTunes only copies a few apps at a time.  I'm guessing this is to speed up the syncing process.  Every time I press Sync, even just having completed a sync, iTunes finds some more apps to copy over from the iPad.  Imagine with 50 apps updated on the iPad since the last install, even if iTunes copies 10 apps per sync, it still takes 5 syncs to copy over all of the apps.  I've also noticed that every time I try to remove an app when iTunes is going through these rounds of copying from the iPad, my removed apps get reinstalled.
The solution: sync iTunes repeatedly until it has copied all apps from the iPad to the computer. Only once that has been completed should you try to remove the apps you no longer want on your iPad.
Hopefully this will all be taken care of with iOS 5 and the wireless syncing!

  • My Ipad Mini Keeps Closing Apps and Returning back to the Home Screen?

    Hi,
I bought an ipad mini at the beginning of December and i have had problems with it ever since.
For some reason i could be in the middle of doing something (doesnt matter what app or what i'm doing) and it will just shut down and return to the home screen so i then have to open the app again?
Its quite frustrating and i have searched the web high and low for other similar problems but i cannot find anything.
I am using the ios 6.0.2.
    Thank you
    Daniel

  • IPad 2 - closing apps

    Hello !
I gave my iPad 2   64Gb wifi+3G to my borther. I reseted it , and deleted all the content. He was playing without any problem for 2-3 hour. But after that , he cant open any of the apps , cuz all closing immediatly.
We restarted it , backed it up. itunes doesnt show anything wrong.
    What can it be ?
    Thank You !

    See if this helps.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't help, try downloading another app - any free app will work.

  • Why does my iPad keep closing safari?

For the past several months, my iPad continuously closes out of Safari and/or apps that I am using.   It happens often enough to be very annoying, especially when I am in the middle of something.
I've tried resetting/rebooting but nothing helps.  Any suggestions?

You are using the original iPad and running iOS 5.1.1. IMO - iOS 5.1.1 really stretched the limits of the original iPad's processor. You are resetting and rebooting so there isn't much else to try other than to keep apps in the recents tray to a minimum, and clear Safari on occasion.
Start by quitting all apps, clear Safari and then reboot the iPad. See if that helps at all.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. er appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Reboot the iPad. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • IPad keeps closing or kicking me out

When using safari or even on app store browsing apps. The iPad suddenly closes. It's been happening for 2 weeks. Could it be a virus

It's definitely not a virus. There isn't any malware of any kind for iPads. (Unless you have jailbroken it, but we're not allowed to discuss such things here.)
I would first recommend resetting your iPad. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, connect it to iTunes on your computer and restore it using the latest backup.

  • Do I have to keep closing apps running in the background?

There are a lot of apps I use for no more than 5 mins a day (like the weather.com app for example). Do I have to close all these apps manually every time (and every day) in order to preserve battery life and resources ... or do they automatically close at some point?

This is true. I guess the best way to deal with this, then, is to each time you are done with an app you aren't going to use again for awhile, is to double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, and remove those certain applications. It's an extra step, yes, but I don't know of any better way to do it.
