Ipad 1 not appearing in itunes. I am running 10.6.8 and have itunes 10.3.1
I have been given a first generation ipad and it will not appear in itunes. I have 10.6.8 installed with itunes 10.3.1. I connected the cable to the USB port in the back of the computer and when i connect to the ipad there is the audible sound when a connection is made like a "chime" but nothing appears in itunes. I looked at some troubleshooting sites and removed itunes and reinstalled it again but the problem still exists. I can download apps but cant get them to the ipad because "it's not there". Please help. Three frustrated kids and one swearing grown up.
I followed the instructions carefully and it still wouldn't work. Apparently my device was in the "rare circumstances" etc etc. I followed another link on the page which took me to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3540 where I followed the instructions there and voila! problem resolved. No longer swearing and kids will be happy in the morning. Many thanks. Yipppeeeeeee!!!!!!!

What version of iTunes are you using...since you say Windows 7 it should be fairly current. Sometimes with iTunes on Windows you have to start iTunes, then connect the iPad and wait for it to be recognized. If that doesn't work, make sure you are using the latest iTunes version and if not, download and install the latest.

Without a backup on iCloud, there needs to be another device using the same @icloud address that is syncing to the notes. Without that, there is no way to go back in time to create a backup before performing a major update.

The statement "forget your answer" in the security support does not appear in my i-pad air ,as well as ,I have more than 2 e-mails added in my i padI have a very similar problem but I have done the 5 Rs and more---multiple times--and my iPOD and iTunes are just stuck in an endless cycle of Restore and Restart but rather than showing up in the source panel so I can put my music back on, the icon appears and tells me to restore again. I did everything including checking my USB ports etc. in My Computer and my iPOD refuses to get out of this cycle when iTUNES does bother to recognize it. Any suggestions other than the 5 Rs---because they are doing absolutely nothing.

Hi all, I upgraded my MBP to Lion , but on the screen where i need to type my password, click on my photo and it does not appear the place for me to type my password and it stay stuck there. Can anyone solve this problem for me?
Reboot the machine holding Command and r keys down, you'll boot into Lion Recovery Partition
In there will be Disk Utility, use that to select your Lion OS X Partition and Repair Permissions.
After that is done reboot the machine and see if you can log in.
If not repeat the above steps to get into Lion Recovery, get online and reinstall Lion again, it will overwrite the installed version and hopefully after that it wil work.
Reboot and try again.
If not follow my steps to create a Snow Leopard Data Recovery drive, then option boot from it and grab a copy of your files off the machine.
Then reinstall all your programs onto the external drive like setting up a new machine, then use Disk Utility to erase the entire internal boot drive (select the drive media on the far left, not the partiton slightly indented) format Option: GUID , 1 partition OS X Extended and then use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the external to the newly formatted internal drive. Once that is finished reboot and disconnect the external drive.
Once you go that, boot into Snow Leopard and update to 10.6.8, use the AppStore and option click on Purchases and download Lion again and install.
Lots of work, but there is no Lion disks.

Let me begin by saying I'm new to the Mac world as well as to the realm of online forums so I apologize if this is a question that was already asked and/or if it is a very noobish question...
But anyway, I just recently got the new Macbook Pro 15" with RD and I am curious if I can keep all of my Itunes media on an external hard drive without keeping any of it on the Macbook itself and have Itunes still function (when the HD is connected of course). I am trying to keep the computer memory clutter free and not fill it up with music and stuff so I want to keep all of my media on a 1T Buffalo external hard drive so the computer stays like brand new for a long time..Right now I have about 5G worth of music on my hard drive and I thought it was only on the hard drive and I just recently found out that it is also within the music folder on the computer itself. Any thoughts? Sorry if it is an odd question, I can try to rephrase the question if need be. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated, Thanks!Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

Unfortunately under the single term "transferring library" it describes two very different moves; relocating just your media (not really transferring your library and not recommended unless you really need this configuration), and relocating media+database (really your whole "library"). Make sure you understand the difference before electing to move only media. -
my iphone 4 is not responding the screen is just showing a usb lead and the itunes symbol. when i plug it into my desktop mac and try to sync it to itunes ,itunes is telling me the phone is in a restore mode. Your question has probaby been answered already because it was posted a month ago but anyways what you do is you plug your phone into your computer. Next you want to open iTunes and click on File. Then you go down to "Transfer Purchases from *your name* iPhone". Then just wait for it to sync and you should be good.

I have started to get this error message: "5.1.3 bad address syntax" in my email account. I am using Outlook 2011. It does not appear to be affecting sending or receiving email. I have no idea what it means or how to resolve the issue. Any advice? My email account is through Optimum online and I am using Airpost Express.
P.S. The error sound "bong" is driving us nuts!Please post on the Office for Mac product forums that Microsoft hosts. It's their product and they can best troubleshoot the issue.

I have put new music on my iTunes folder on my apple desktop. I have iTunes Match but the music has not shown up on my iPhone. My iCloud is turned on. All my music initially did go to my iPhone
Try posting in the iTunes Match forum, you'll probably find more knowledgeable folks there. iTunes Match is a different service from iCloud.

If you are seeing your photos in "Last Import", the photos are somewhere in your library. Perhaps the dates are wrong, and you do not see the photos arranged by date, where you expect them to be.
Select one of the photos on "Last Import", then ctrl-click it and select "Show in Event". That will take you to the event in event view. -
iTunes gives me an error and asks for re-installation, the error is "The procedure entry point CMBlockBufferCopyDataBytes could not be located in the dynamic link library coreMedia.dll", and the iTunes can not be lunched any more.
can you please help, as I also tried to re-install it but prEntry point errors can often be fixed by deleting the offending dll, then repairing the component it is part of. CoreMedia.dll is part of Apple Application Support.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

I got a new Ipad 2 and I am trying to get it work in vain. I have downloaded the iTunes on my PC, but even after executing the program nothing happens to the IPAD. I still get the image of the USB cable and the iTunes logo. What am I doing wrong?
You know that you have to connect the iPad to your PC with the cable that came with it - and then iTunes should start automatically and it will guide you through the set up process?
If you have already tried to connect the iPad - and you have launched iTunes - and you still have no luck - reboot your PC and then begin the process again. -
