IPad 1 SIM use for 4G service?

I will probably be able to answer this Friday when I get the new iPad but I was wondering if anyone knows anything or if anyone familiar with AT&T could help.
I have an iPad 1 with 3G service provided by AT&T.
Will I be able to simply swap out the SIM card from my iPad 1 into the new iPad and get 4G LTE service?
Or do I need to use the specific SIM card that comes with the new iPad?

Answer:
You have to use the SIM card included with the New iPad 3 if you want 4G LTE service.
But it's really easy to activate it.  Go to the cellular data section in Settings, and just follow the logical prompts.  You'll select that you already have an iPad plan, log in, and it will transfer your account to your new iPad 3; the plan will automatically upgrade to LTE and you can keep your previous plan on the same cycle.

Compare the roaming charges from the German carrier with services like those:
    http://www.abroadband.com

Otherwise buy a pre-paid micro-SIM card for the iPad in each country you visit.

  • The server farm account should not be used for other services

I have created a new SharePoint Foundation 2013 Farm. I only used the Farm Configuration Wizard to create the Search Service Application, all other aspects of the Farm was created using PowerShell.
The SharePoint Health Analyzer is reporting the following error:
Title: The server farm account should not be used for other services.
    Severity: 1 - Error
    Category: Security
Explanation: DOMAIN\FARM_ACCOUNT, the account used for the SharePoint timer service and the central administration site, is highly privileged and should not be used for any other services on any machines in the server farm.  The following services were
found to use this account: Distributed Cache Service(Windows Service)
    Remedy: Browse to
http://centraladminsite:port/_admin/FarmCredentialManagement.aspx and change the account used for the services listed in the explanation. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142685".
Now I understand how to change the account used to run the Distributed Cache Service, but my query is what account should I use in the least privelage model? I have setup the following 6 accounts as per TechNet guidelines (Link)
and am not sure if one of these accounts should be used or if another account is required:
    SQL Server service account
    Setup user account
    Server farm account
    SharePoint Server Search service account
    Default content access account
    Application pool identity
After reviewing the TechNet article again, I don't fully understand the section titled "Service application accounts". Is the article advising me to create a seperate account for each row in the table? e.g. 1 account for Business Data Connectivity
Service, a different account for "Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service", another account for "App management" and another account for "Distributed Cache", so 4 extra accounts if I choose to install all of these services
    within the Farm?
Also, what does the article mean when it says "Plan one set of an application pool and proxy group for each service application that you plan to implement."? How do I go about doing this?

Inder: Yes, It is suggested to have multiple service account for each service application. This increases security and dependencyof 1 account on multiple Service applications. Like below
    SQL Server service
    Local System account (default)
    Setup user
Member of the Administrators group on the local computer
    Server farm
    Network Service (default)
    No manual configuration is necessary.
    SharePoint Server Search Service
By default, this account runs as the Local System account.
If you want to crawl remote content by changing the default content access account or by using crawl rules, change this to a domain user account. If you do not change this account to a domain user account, you cannot change the default content access account
to a domain user account or add crawl rules to crawl this content. This restriction is designed to prevent elevation of privilege for any other process running as the Local System account.
    Default Content Access
No manual configuration is necessary if this account is only crawling local farm content. If you want to crawl remote content by using crawl rules, change this to a domain user account, and apply the requirements listed for a server farm.
    Content Access
Same requirement as the default content access account.
    Profile import Default Access
    Same requirements as server farm.
    Excel Services Unattended Service
Must be a domain user account.

Inder: Each service account has a application pool and you can plan to use same application pool for multiple
service accounts if required. These application pool are then consumed by proxy connection
of each service application. On service application pool, you can see all the service applications and its proxy connection.

  • Exporting a List to Excel to use for Excel Services WebPart (not working)

Hey everyone, here's the scenario. I'm trying to export a list to excel and save it to a library. All the connections are saved. Now. I want that excel file to render as a web part. When I make a change on the list and try to refresh the data connection
I get the error below. Please help
AJ MCTS: SP 2010 Configuration MCSA: Windows 7 If you find this post useful kindly please mark it as an answer :) TY

    Hi,
I did a test as the followings:
Create a list, and add some items into it.
Export the list into a Excel file, then upload the excel file to a library.
When I opened the file via Excel service, I saw the a yellow warning about unsupported features.
Then I created a wiki page, and add Excel Web Access web part and connect the web part to the excel file.
When I refresh all data conections, nothing happened.
    From the article:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms496823.aspx (they are similar with SharePoint 2013)
SharePoint lists are not supported for Excel service. So, it may cause this issue.
I suggest you click "Open in Excel" to open the file in Excel application, then refresh the data connection, and save back to SharePoint. Then after you refresh the page, the data of the Excel Web Access web part will refresh.
    Thanks,
    Wendy

Is the database on the server with the Niagara chipset ? If so, there are known performance issues for this combination. See MOS Doc 781763.1 (Migration from fast single threaded CPU machine to CMT UltraSPARC T1 and T2 results in increased CPU reporting) for details.
Bottom line, the Niagara chipset is not recommended for database servers - they are fine for application or web servers.

  • Uses for Invocation Service

Is the Invocation Service meant to be used for general purpose concurrency? If members of an Invocation write how would I commit or rollback?

    Hi Gary,
I'm not sure what you are asking.
The invocation service is used for doing clustered invocations, for example, invoking an agent on one or more servers in the cluster.
The cache services are the ones that are transactional.
Now, you can do things with the cache from the agents executing in the invocation service (that is quite common).
Does that help explain it? Please clarify the question if it doesn't.

  • Suddenly prompted to activate iPad Air in use for over a year, never been used for betas or jailbroken

Last night I turned on my iPad Air to a message that read I needed to activate my iPad.  I went through the steps (selected a wifi network and entered my Apple ID password).  IT spun for several minutes before saying it was unable to activate, try again later.  I checked online, and Apple's servers were all up.  I tried maybe 10 times.
So I put my iPad into recovery mode and plugged it into my computer.  iTunes recognized that there was something wrong with the iPad and recommended I update to iOS 8.2.  Funny thing is, I updated to 8.2 sometime ago, perhaps one or two weeks ago.  So, I proceeded with downloading the update on my computer.  This morning, I attempted to activate using the same methods in the first paragraph and received a message saying unable to activate.  So I put it back into recovery mode and now that the download was completed, I proceeded to update.  It appeared to work and I was able to log into my iPad but almost as soon as I saw my screen of icons, it threw me back to the "Activation required" message.
So I again put it into recovery mode and opted this time to restore the iPad.  After restoring, I've lost everything and it still won't activate.
I read on the Apple Discussion boards someone once encountered the same issue and was able to get past it by hitting "next, next next" without selecting a Wifi network and assuringly forcing the iPad to use the cellular.  My iPad IS cellular so I attempted that but it won't let me go past without selecting a network.  I even shut off my home's wifi to see if that would work.  It didn't.  It does not look like it is connecting to cellular at all actually, it keeps indicating "searching".  I've removed and reinserted the sIM without avail.
I just tried DFU mode now for the heck of it, and I'm still stuck being unable to inactivate my iPad I've had since November of 2013.

I took it to the Apple Store and they actually made it worse.  It is stuck in an endless cycle of switching to the settings screen then to the home screen saying it needs activation.    Luckily I took it to ATT and they are replacing with an iPad Air 2 since I've never used my mobile insurance protection, woo hoo

  • What is the best ipad app to use for documents/notes

    Hi
I really want to use my new ipad at work for note taking at meetings, creating to do lists, actions etc, but most of my colleagues use laptops with MS Office (word mostly).
Does anyone have any recommendations as to whether I could do this, and if I can which app is best? Of course I want to email my colleagues with my notes so they can read them without losing any formatting I do on the ipad....?
    Help would be appreciated...

If you're about to email them, take notes right there in the 'compose email' function.  That way you can't lose any formatting !  Otherwise the Notes app isn't bad.
But if you want proper formatting flexibility then you're possibly best off getting a copy of Pages for iOS.  This has lots of formatting flexibililty and exports to Word format.

  • Which service type to use for Proxy Service

I have a question regarding a Proxy service.
I have a need for a local (transport local) Proxy service which is called by another proxy service.
It is a synchronous service which has an XML incoming message and an XML outgoing message.
    I have the following questions:
    - Does it make a difference in performance when I choose a WSDL webservice or a Messaging service?
    - Which one would you choose and why?
    Thanx

Does it make a difference in performance when I choose a WSDL webservice or a Messaging service?Hardly there would be any difference.
Which one would you choose and why?I would choose XML type messaging type proxy because input and output are XML messages. I won't choose WSDL web-service because it should be used in case of SOAP packagaing only (in web-service context, to enable SOAP and WS support) to mock a web-service which has a WSDL (and a XSD) associated with it.

  • Why won't Apple make 3G iPads into mobile use for calls and text?

All your iPhone, iPad mini and all other idevices are great, but if you want to win the competition with Apple vs Samsung, you better include what all mobile devices do not have, which is to simply NOT ABLE TO TURN OFF WHEN THE PHONE IS STOLEN. You can put passwords, install Find My IPhone, but wont do **** when the thief can just simply turn off the device from lock screen. With the new iOS 7 and new features of Find My iPhone, I suggest that you also include to ask for the apple ID and password when wanting to turn off the idevice and when the password is correct, the current location will be emailed to their account so they know when and where they have turned off their phone, if it was however a kidnapping or stolen, it will help police locate the device or person more faster, would you not agree this is a great feature to have. Anyone who buys an iPhone now already includes data plan for Internet anyways.
Hope this comes available for the releasing of the iOS 7 new update this coming summer.
    Thank you,
    DeCA

This is an iPad user to user forum, so you are not addressing Apple. We have no way to know what and when Apple will do something. You'll have to wait for an announcement by Apple.

  • How many PVDM4 can be used in 44xx for IP services?

    The PVDM4 Q&A says:
    Q. Where are the PVDM4 DSPs installed?
    A. Unlike previous generations of PVDM2 and PVDM3 DSP modules, the PVDM4 modules are installed directly on the T1/E1 NIM. Depending on the number of channels required, the appropriate DSP module is installed on the NIM.
For IP services such as transcoding and conferencing, the PVDM4 DSP module can be installed on the motherboard of the 4451-X ISR platform.
What it does not tell: when I am in need for more than one PVDM4 DSP module (more than 256) for IP services, can I install the additional one on dummy NIM modules and use the PVDM4 module on the NIM modules also for IP services?

Yes, resources not used in the NIM can be used for IP services

  • Look for: components used for Service Brokerage (CSB) for mobile networks

I am looking for developers/company offering components used for Central Service Brokerage (CSB) for mobile networks. It aims to store consumer profiles and directs service requests (shopping, travel & meeting services, hospitality and insurance) from mobile consumers to connected retailers and appointed service providers.
I would be higly interested in almost ready to use components/architecture which can be used in new service/start-up situation.

    Hey Anthony,
Yes, a lot to read, thanks for reading though!
For the External Web Services, since I have it set to fe-pool.domain.local right now, I figure this is as simple as flipping it to fe-pool.domain.com within Topology Builder | Enterprise Edition Front End Pools | Edit properties | Web services?
After which, I assume I will need to create a new host A record for fe-pool.domain.com, pointing to the Pub IP 1.2.3.4 I have set up to forward directly onto my FE Server of 18.20? I am a bit of confused as to how this external web service is contacted,
does the mobile app use lyncdiscover.domain.com to find this information? In other words, does the lyncdiscover allow the mobile app to get inside the topology, the topology reports to the mobile app that "Hey, fe-pool.domain.com is going to be your External
web service as defined in the topology" ? If its just that easy this should be a quick change.
As for your next question, on the F5 level I'm pretty certain it is just set to take any packets coming in from pub IP 1.2.3.4 : 80 or 8080, or 443, or 4443, to allow it to go to that FE server IP on any of those ports. I don't believe it is actually taking
a 443 packet, and converting it into a 4443 destination. Also note, I am forcing lyncdiscover to use port 80, instead of 443 because I am unable to get a new pub cert with the lyncdiscover SAN.
As for the domain user, it is simply just my single user and I am flipping the SIP domain in the control panel within the user properties. domain.com and domain.local are both configured SIP domains in my topology, however i have domain.com as the default.
