IPad 1 touchscreen issues?

Hi
Has anyone else noticed a problem with their iPad 1 recognising touch? Sometimes I have to swipe over five times to get it to 'start' the iPad and I'll quite often have to tap an icon a few times for it to open.
I understand that it'll be a little slow (and yes, it..is..slow), but it seems to have only started this a few weeks ago.
Also - bonus question - I get that Apple recommends updating whenever a software update is available (for various reasons, including security), but I wonder...is my iPad less 'secure' considering that I can't update my iOS? I have always seen it as more secure than buying things on my laptop, so now that I've thought of that, I'm a little uncertain about that.
Thanks

Your iPad is not less secure, I have the original iPad and have never had anything remotely bad run on it. IOS is a very good system because only downloads from the app store can install.
If your hands are clean and the screen is relatively clean, touch response problems could be from skin that is too dry. Or just an iPad that needs an occasional reboot - hold both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if it appears. Clears a lot of minor issues.

• IPad Touchscreen Issues

I recently sent my new 16GB wifi iPad to Apple due to some touchscreen issues I was having. Upon receiving the iPad, Apple did testing on it and concluded that they could not reproduce the issue. The problem was that there was a ½" portion of the touchscreen not responding to touch. I got back my original iPad unaltered and immediately set it up as a new iPad on my computer and tested it using the Adobe Ideas app to ensure the touchscreen was working properly. The same issue is occurring as was before sending it in. It was recommended that I make a youtube video of the issue and post it on this board to get help in fixing the problem.
Here's the video -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_U-3kBIJ90

Just take it to the Apple store genius bar. The video / demo you showed should be more than enough to have it addressed on the spot.

• IPad touchscreen issues, please help?

When typing with the onscreen keyboard or wireless keyboard it appears that certain keys are overly sensitive and will type same character 2-3 times even though I only lightly touch it. Annny (there is a perfect example) any suggestions appreciated. This is annoying,, please advise.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

• Touchscreen issue since IOS 5.1

Is anyone else having problems with the touchscreen since installing IOS 5.1? It seems like the calibration is off.
I am also unable to install apps. Ive tried restoring and soft resets but nothing seems to work.
Am I the only one? or does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

Sorry -- no fixes for you but I, too, am experiencing this problem with my iPod Touch 4th gen. I even did a restore and reinstall from iTunes to see if there had been in installation issue (I had an installation issue over wi-fi where the Apple logo appeared with an empty progress bar for most of an hour). After a couple of re-boots it finally kicked in but with the touchscreen issue. The restore didn't resolve anything. Kinda got a gut feel like the updates for the Ipad 3 screen resolution is what is causing the problem on the small screen of the iPhone/iPod. My iPad 1 isn't having any issues. I don't know if my wife's iPod is problematic or not. Both her iPad 1 and iPod 4 were updated last weekend but haven't heard any reports.

iPad touchscreen is not responding even if I did the restart procedure.

Hi AngusZ,
The article below may be able to help you with this issue.
Click on the link below to see more details and screenshots.
I've quoted some helpful highlights for you:
iPhone, iPad or iPod touch: Not responding or does not turn on
Resolution
Follow the appropriate steps for the symptom you're experiencing.
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close
If the device is unresponsive or certain controls aren't working as expected, try restarting
To turn off the device, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Slide your finger across the slider to turn off the device.
To turn on the device, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), try resetting Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds.
If there is no video, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the 10W USB Power Adapter.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Home button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, let the device to continue to charge until it turns on.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode.
I hope this information helps ....
Have a great day!

• Taken Aback- touchscreen issue

I have enjoyed and supported this company's products and services for some time. So, today when I inquired with tech support about my touchscreen issue (non working band of the screen ..the 456 area on the dialpad)...I was taken aback at the very least that I should send my phone in for repair and then PAY for a loaner. hmmm..I just paid 700 for a phone that is now handicapped two months later by what seems to be a common issue, accourding to the forums, and I should fork over some more $$$? Principle alone may make me dust off my Blackberry.

these kind of comments are just besides the point. there is a degree of company loyalty that is ok, but this is a clear shortcoming of Apple's understanding of the mobile market. I am a huge Apple fan (have had Macs for more than 20 years, I had a Newton, and now the iPhone), but I have also had about 30 mobile phones over the last 15 or so years. And I have to say that I have never had a phone before that broke, that needed repair. Or that broke just by falling down (that is what happened to my iphone, one fall out of 1.5 feet and the screen is cracked). What Apple has to understand is that the mobile phone market is not the computer market. Phones have to work and have to survive some everyday punishments, otherwise they are just nice looking but otherwise useless devices. Just take a look at Palms and Blackberrys, the thing about them is that they work, just like Nokias and in the past Ericsson's.

• Very Strange Touchscreen Issue

I recieved and activated my new 8GB iPhone about two days ago and it worked great up until just a few hours ago. I am experiencing the known issue of the bottom 1/2 inch or so of the touchscreen not responding to my touch, which in turn is affecting a lot of main elements of the phone such as SMS, e-mail, iPod, etc. Among that issue, I also encountered a very strange occurrence whilst I was testing the 'dead zone' on my iPhone: Certain sections of the dead zone work if I hover my finger about 2 -3 centimeters from the screen. It is a very strange thing but true, lol. I can even capture video footage of this if it's necessary.
Since I bought my iPhone from an AT&T store, should I return it to them for a new one on the spot or should I do it through Apple? I hope it doesn't come down to the latter since I do not live anywhere near an Apple Store (New Orleans, LA) and I just switched from T-Mobile to AT&T so I'd really hate to purchase a cheap temporary phone while my iPhone is being replaced/fixed.
Edit: Have a Merry Christmas, everyone!
Message was edited by: Fiyerstorm

I just talked to Apple Support and they are going to repair it for me, it's just I need to wait til Friday since I am broke from Christmas! Once I get paid, then I can dish out the 30 dollars to get a rental iPhone to hold me over. The restore temporarily fixed the touchscreen issue since it happened again hours later.
Also, nobody I know who would have a spare AT&T phone doesn't come to mind so I can't just borrow a phone and start the repair process now, but the wait isn't too bad. At least they do not limit the iPhone rental to just physical Apple Store customers!
Thanks for the help, folks. :V

Hello
Would someone be kind enough to post here the best ressources for the "ANDROID vs IPAD VIDEOS issues" ?
I got lots of troubles to have some videos working on Samsung Galaxytab ...
thanx !

mm well
Sorry but what is the definition of "inline" videos, I wanna be really sure (i'm not english / in my language my videos are "inline" videos: videos put inside the document).)
On some apps I made, some videos work, some don't. And
one of the main issues are
- they launch full screen when they're not supposed to (i want them to launch in a definite area)
- they dont launch full screen when they're supposed to (when they're suppposed to play in full screen, they just do not appear: black screen)
mmm ?

• IMessage not working on 5S and iPad Air issues

iMessage not working on 5S. Had 3 online chats with apple support but still not fixed. iPad air issues also; safari shuts down a lot on mine and my husbands iMessage not working. iMessage works on his 5S. Never had so many issues with Apple before. I receive SMS messages on 5S but no iMessage. It was suggested to me that I get a new sim or try another wifi, both seem odd given everything else works.
My husband and I got our phones the same day, his works right, mine doesn't.
iPad airs were purchased a month apart, mine works ok apart from safari shutdowns and his iMessage not working.
Also the slider to answer calls on both phones not always working. Had to reboot one of them and it forced us to set it up again from scratch.
Any ideas?

restore from backup or restore as new.

• Z10 Touchscreen Issues - Possible Solution?

A few months back my Z10 touchscreen became unresponsive. I could not find a solution, so I purchased a new Z10. Recenty I dropped the new Z10 in water...so, still in posession of the old unresponsive Z10, I decided to give it another try. I put my sim card in, and the new battery that came with the new phone. VOILA! Works like a charm. Try replacing your battery. i wish I had known this months ago, could have saved myself spending $200 on a new phone upgrade.

I'm happy for your positive outcome but I would argue that the battery was not the culprit. Sure, it appears that it was but exchanging batteries to correct a touchscreen issue is not something we would have suggested; I'm sure this is just coincidence.
Whatever the situation, you now have a Z10 in perfect working order. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I recently bought a Z1 and i found an annoying touchscreen issue that might be a software bug.
If i put my Phone on a flat surface the touchscreen does not respond wel. It detects taps that are not there. Unlocking Phone with strong pattern lock is almost impossible.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

• IPad connectivety issues

I have an iPad 2 using 6.1.3 and the Wifi connection within my house outside the room with router is really weak.

• AIR + iPad retina issue

Will the air to iPad retina issue be fix in the flas pro cs6?

Hi guys,
1) I'm currently running a trial copy of CS6, Air 3.2, and I get 'App descriptor cannot parse file' error whenever I try to modify the xml file.
I'm just trying to remove the icon shine, which worked fine in Flash 5.5.
<key>UIPrerenderedIcon</key><true/>]]>
Also, I tried inserting the 144x144 icon, which published ok, but didn't seem to work. And that line of code later disappeared from
the xml.
2) My mac is Snow Leopard, so I take it I have to upgrade to Lion (do I have to buy it, or is it free to developers?!)
If I then get the latest XCode, and target ios 5.1 with Retina display, will my apps still be compatible on devices with iOS 4?
Thanks,
