IPad 1 (yes the first iPad!) unable to startup

Hi there, I have an old iPad 1 Wifi + Celluar which I have been trying to boot up but to no avail.
Only when it is plugged in will the Apple logo appears for a few seconds. It then shuts itself off again.
Without external power, the iPad 1 will not even start. Did tried DFU mode. But the moment I removed the external power, it shuts off immediately.
Any idea what is going on? Battery issue?

Has the iPad been left off for some time? If the battery is completely drained it may take over an hour on the charger befor the iPad will respond. Plug the iPad into the charger and plug that into a good wall outlet. Leave it plugged in for at least an hour then reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously, ignoring the Red Slide to Power Off should that appear, until the Apple logo appears. Then release the buttons and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot. If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is fully charged. If the iPad does not restart, Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have a technician examine your device. Or contact Apple Support.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Yes iPad 1 still seems good for me too, but the 3rd gen is noticeably smoother in use.
Absolute specs are really irrelevant - Apple have not allowed the iPad 1 to mirror and that's that - pretty much like older Macs pre 2011 not being able to do so due to lack of a CPU feature.

On my iPad 3, how do I make calendar items lasting more than one day appear as such on the monthly view of my calendar? Right now only the first day of the item appears.

On iPad 3, all of my calendar items lasting more than one day do not appear correctly when looking at the monthly view of the calendar; only the first day of the appointment appears. For example, if I am taking a vacation for 4 days, only the first day of the vacation is marked on the calendar, instead of being listed on all 4 days. When I look at the weekly view, however, it is correct and is listed on all 4 days. The problem here of course is that at a glance, there is no way to look at my monthly schedule. On my iPhone, everything is correct, regardless of month or week view, so clearly this is an iPad problem I guess? Please advise on how this can be corrected. Thank you!

Unfortunately you can't do what you want. Many people have complained to Apple about this. I suggest you provide Apple feedback directly at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html. They will not provide a direct response but hopefully if enough people provide feedback Apple will fix this.

I use this for my mobile, on-site auto repair business and not being able to call up repair and diagnostic info and reference for some cars is troublesome for sure. It works fine on the computer and I have installed a remote desktop app as a workaround but it is unreliable because the desktop is not business dedicated and may be off or in use at the time. So is there a known fix for this?
Let me paint a more descriptive picture, visualize 4 drop down selection menus, first one is for year, next one is for make, 3rd one is model and the last one is for engine size/type. If I wanted to choose a 2012 vehicle it wont work because it is the top selection on the list. This can be forced by selecting any other year and then coming back to 2012. Ok fine, but then let's say I wanted to choose Acura as the make, well it won't take it because again it's the top selection. Again you work around it be selecting any other make and coming back to Acura. Ok now select the model, same trend follows. But now since most Acura vehicles come with dedicated engines and no optional engines I have only 1 selection in that final drop down menu and it will not take my selection and therefore never let me proceed to the info I need.
This is also true when ordering parts from my wholesaler's website, they use drop downs and I can only get to that last drop down and then I'm stuck. This is blindingly frustrating, what options do I have. I'm not opposed to any avenue at this point.

Did you ever figure this out? I bought my iPad last week to use in my business as well. I assume you are trying to use alldata? That is where I noticed this same issue. I had problems with identifix working with safari but downloaded a different browser and that works fine. Alldata does not work with either browser. The main difference is that on identifix if there is only one engine selection, it automatically selects the only option and continues to the home page. With alldata you have to make the selection manually even if there is only one option. Honestly if I can't get this to work I am going to return the iPad as it looses a significant amount of usefulness to men

I have the first iPad, and it keeps crashing no matter what program(safari) app (iTunes) or game I use. I check the updates regularly and I'm up to date. Why does it keep crashing and how can I fix it?

I have the first iPad (which is considered ancient). I'll open safari and no matter what I'm searching after a few minutes it crashes (it will close safari and bring me back to the main app screen). The last few days I've been searching song on iTunes, and I have the same issue. It closes my iTunes and brings me to the main app screen.
I have checked my updates and everything is current for this iPad. It's a 64gb iPad with 54gb of available space so I know it's not a storage issue.

I have had my ipad in Mexico for 3 weeks. For the first two weeks it worked great. Suddenly I can't access my itunes, my ibooks, facetime, etc. At first I thought the problem was with items I was trying to purchase but it is more than that. Ideas???

It would seem to load, click to a blank screen, and then go back to my icon page. The problem has spread to include anything that I want to browse and purchase, such as apps. Last night I found I could not use facetime either. Also I cannot use my NPR app. It downloads but when I touch an article I would like to read, the screen goes black and then returns to my original icon page.Not knowing what anything has to do with the problem, I have noticed that there are several apps that are in the process of being updated but will NOT update: Pinball Wizard, ibooks, Where's My Water, The Daily, and Pandora Radio. I am in Morelia, Mexico. We have a good internet provider. That does not seem to be the problem. When I purchased my Ipad, I was told that it was usable internationally. Is that the problem? Any suggestions or advice? All will be appreciated. Thanks!

When trying to load multiple language versions of an ibook onto my iPad only the first document loads

We have a sales tool that we have created for one of our clients in iBooks Author. They need the iBook creating in various languages.
We need to be able to supply the multiple versions of the same document (in the different languages) to our client and they need to be able to install the different versions onto their iPads. And they want the options of having multiple language versions on the same iPads.
We have already created two language versions of the document (a US English and an International English version).
The two documents have different file names, (although they are based on the same document). We have just changed the spelling of some words accordingly. (And we will be producing other language variants based on the master file).
We export the two documents via the File > Export > iBooks option. Then we are using Dropbox to upload the two files. The files are then accessed via the Dropbox App on the iPad.
We can download the first document (International English) onto the iPad and view it as normal, but when we try and then download the other document (US English) it downloads in the Dropbox App, but when you click on view in iBooks it opens the first (International English) document into iBooks.
You can only appear to have one version of the document installed at any one time. If you delete the first one you can then load the second one fine, but not both at the same time. If the file names are different it must be getting the identity of the document from somewhere else.
This has only started happening since using iBooks Author 2.
Can anyone offer any suggestions please. I've tried changing the version number in the option on export, but this doesn't seem to affect the result.

Further to my earlier post we have now completed a test by saving our original document as a template, then creating a new document from the template, making necessary changes and saving as a new file. We can now upload the two separate versions to our iPad.
You cannot "duplicate" the file in any way, either by the File > Duplicate method from within iBooks Author or by simply Duplicating the original .iba file in the Finder, as this will cause the problem outlined above. By Duplicating you are obviously also duplicating this "hidden metadata" which is stored somewhere within the file which iBooks on the iPad is using to identify the documents. So unless Apple update the software to allow us to change that metadata we are stuck to using the Templates route. (Didn't have this problem on the last version of iBooks Author).
This works for what we are trying to do, which is create different language variants of the same book.
Working from Templates is probably the correct way to do it anyway, but might not necessarily be right for everyone.
Working in iBooks Author is proving to be a rather testing experience. You certainly need the patience of a Saint. Not sure it's of the standard we expect from Apple, but then I guess, as they are giving it away "free", they think they don't have to offer any support for it.
I think I would prefer to pay a fee for it and have a support route from Apple, rather than rely on a community of equally frustrated users who are all playing guinea pig and simply sharing their workarounds for a half baked product.

You don't transfer Apple ID's from one device to another one. You sign out in the settings, )the App Store and iTunes if necessary) and then sign in with the other ID.
Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID>Sign out. Them sign in with the other ID. You can sign out of the app store and iTunes as well by going to the featured Atab in the App Store and the music tab in iTunes, swipe to the bottom and access the Apple ID in there.
You should have erased the iOad before you gave it to her in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. That way she could set up the iPad as new with her own Apple ID.
Be aware of the fact that if you use each others ID's in order to download past purchased content to your own iPads, you will lock yourself out of your own ID as you will have associated your iPad with the other person's Apple ID.
In other words, if you sign into your wife's ID on your iPad so that you can download an app or an album so that you don't have to pay for it again, you will lock yourself out of your Apple ID for 90 days.
