IPad 2 3G on Telus, internet connection with 3G shows full bars connects, then drops as soon as you start loading a web page.

It seems to be getting worse, at first I could get it to work after a couple tries....last night took half an hour to get working....starting to get more than a little frustrating. Wifi works fine, I'm just getting sick of the 3G issue. Once you get it to stay connected it's fine, never drops again.....until you turn it off and go back to the start. Is this a known issue or is my iPad2 defective?
I should also note that the signal strength itself never changes, when the network drops, just the little 3g icon vanishes and safari comes up with "could not load page because there is no network connection"

    Thank you for your response.
I had rebooted the router (several times, actually), to no avail.
I do not know the answer to whether MAC filtering is enabled on the router.  Have tried to find info about that, but unsuccessfully.  Router is an Arris TG852G, supplied by Comcast.  I would be surprised if MAC filtering were the issue, since in addition to the computer, we have successfully connected several other devices to the wifi, namely an iPad, a Android phone and a Kindle Fire - all able to access internet pages through the wifi, and all without a need to add the device to a MAC address whitelist.  To add to the mystery, the Comcast tech was able to connect his iPhone 4 to my network and access web pages.  He was unable to connect my iPhone, however, after trying for some time.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that an iPhone cannot connect to a wireless "n" router, only "b" or "g".  The Arris router is described as a n/g/b compliant router, and as noted the Comcast tech was able to connect his iPhone, so don't know why that would be the issue here.
By the way, my iPhone does connect wirelessly to my network at home.  This difficulty is at a second home.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Yes if your iPad is a New iPad and you have a "hotspot" plan from your provider.

Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
Restart your IPad. Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

  • Internet Connection Sporadically Drops Out

This problem has been ongoing for several months now.  Usually one or more times a day the internet connection will drop out, usually for a few minutes at a time.  Sometimes I get the yellow triangle in the taskbar, other times I don't.  I've gone back and forth with customer service several times.  Earlier this week they replaced my router to no avail.  They now tell me there are no connection drops or errors in the event logs and have tried to blame my computer/NIC.  I explained to them that it's not the connection between my NIC and the router that is breaking, but rather the connection between the router and the internet, or the connection between the router and the FiOS box.  Either way it's on the other side of the router.  I don't know why it doesn't show up in the event logs, but it is just about a daily occurrence.  So far the haven't even offered to sent a tech out.  I've gone back and forth like four or five times now, and I know the customer service reps are just trying to help, but so far it hasn't done any good.  The issue obviously needs to be escalated, so I figured I'd try here first.  Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be?  Has anyone else ever experienced this problem and been told there's no flags or errors in the event logs?  Thank you for your help.

  • My nook app continues to state "Please be sure you have internet connectivity, then try again."  I am currently connected to wifi and it seems that all my other apps that need to be connect to the internet are properly working.  Help!

My nook app keeps telling me "Please be sure you have internet connectivity, then try again."  I am currently connected to wifi and it seems that all my other apps that need to be connect to the internet are properly working.  I have turn off my phone, signed off my wifi, installed a new app, but nothing is working.  My friend is having similar issues.  My phone is up to date.  I even tried taking off the wifi in hopes that it could just connect to the 3g but nothing.  Not sure if anyone else is experiencieng this issue or knows what I can do.  I think that it may be an app problem that needs fixed, but not sure. Help!

Maybe its a Viber problem. As that is not an Apple product, why don't you try and contact the developer?

  • Why does it take so long to load a web page on my iPad

Why does it take so long to load a web page on my new ipad wifi

This is probably not a problem with the iPad, but with the wi-fi. If your internet connection and/or wi-fi speeds are slow, then loading web pages will be slow. If I was you, I would research different kinds of wireless routers to find the fastest one in your price range, and also research different kinds of modems.

  • Shows full bars and connectvity in wifi but when  hen saysim not connected

I turn on my wifi at a hotspot at d mall and it connects to a network and shows full bars and connectivity but whenev I try to open safari or my email it says im not connnected to d internet... ??? ummm no clue! a lil help plis!!

Some hotspots require additional authentication (you have to open Safari and click an Agree to Terms button, etc.). Others are 'open' networks, but require use proxy server which restricts access. If it works at home but not at the mall, the issue is with that network - you could try asking whoever's network it is.

  • Problem with loading / displaying web pages

I have a problem with a new laptop that I bought recently, running 64-bit Windows 8, do not know if it will be a driver problem, but I doubt it, the issue is that normally browsing Firefox 22, after a while you start having problems displaying pages which makes it impossible to surf the internet, I attached a screenshot of what happens to me when the problem starts:
    http://i42.tinypic.com/2rneelk.jpg
I have tried re-installing Firefox, flash player, java, everything but it stays the same, to fix it I have to clear the history and ?cache?, but after a while the same thing happens again. I tried disabling plugins and so I doubt it's hardware problem, the only thing that was initially install ad-block, uninstall it after a while, that may leave me something in Firefox record causes me this problem? Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

  • Help! Airport says I'm connected, but Safari won't load a web page!?

Okay, I'm a newbie, I would really appreciate if someone can tell me what's going on here. I purchased an Airport Express unit, followed the instructions, set up my own network, and on BOTH my G4 Desktop and my G4 17" Powerbook, the "internet connect" recognized the Airport and says that I'm connected to the internet (full strength), but on both computers when I try to open a web page Safari gives me an error code "cannot connect to the internet." What gives? Anybody know? There doesn't seem to be a help topic about this particular problem....

It sounds like it might be a DNS issue.

  • Airport shows full bars but no networks listed, not connected

I recently began having an issue where my MacBook Pro (mid-2012, running 10.9.2) loses the wireless connection. However, the Airport icon in the menu bar still shows full bars (as if I were connected), but no networks are listed in the drop down menu.
Our other computer (a 2008 MacBook) and phones (moto G and Nexus 5) remain connected, at the same time, nor have they any similar issue. So it appears to be an issue specific to my MacBook Pro.
When I try to turn the Wi-Fi off then back on in the menu bar to see if it will reconnect, the Airport icon goes empty when I click off, but it does not come back to show the bars when I click it back on, remaining 'empty'. Yet I in the drop-down menu I regain the option to 'Turn Wi-Fi Off,' though no networks are listed.
Also, I use this machine daily at work on a university network Wi-Fi and have not had any issues (yet).
I've run Disk Utility after running into this problem, and it instructs me to Repair the Disk in Recovery Mode (via restarting the computer with CMD+R). Doing this, and sometimes doing just a normal restart, so far brings the connection back as normal.
This happened for the first time last weekend, happened again a couple days later, then twice this morning. So it's not constant but is enough that I'm seeking help.
I've scoured the system.log but don't really know what I'm looking for, thus not sure what to paste in here that would be helpful.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, I'm living in a spot in Europe that's not really near any Apple stores (and not sure I wholly trust the nearest 'Trusted retailer' to sort this out).
The more I dig through this issue, the more it's seeming to categorize with the numerous discussions already ongoing about wi-fi drops with Mavericks (here, here, and here for example). The jist of these is that there seems to be no true, ultimate "fix." I tried many of the suggested workarounds (deleting Bluetooth plist, keeping the Bluetooth off, dropping the Wi-Fi from the Network preferences pane and re-adding it, creating a new network location, unsyncing iCloud Keychain, resetting the PRAM, rebooting the SMC). None gives permanent fix thus far.
My hardware tests and Disk Utility reports still come back clean, as well.
And I'm again using this computer on a Wi-Fi network at work with zero problems so far.
Further, we still have another computer (older MacBook, running 10.6.8)  and two phones connecting to the home Wi-Fi that haven't had any issues, so it's not likely as simple as a bad router or home connection.
Whether something in the configuration isn't playing nice with Mavericks, however, is an issue I'm going to try to sort out further (e.g., I've read that changing the wireless router channel has helped some people).

  • I am connected to my remote server and "put files" but the web page files do not update, whats going on?

I really can't figure this out:
So I use a different computer at school for web design, I bought Dreamweaver to work on it at home, I get the files fine from the server that I uploaded at school but then I make changes at home computer and connect and "put" them and I check online and the web page doesn't change one bit.
I don't have the exact file extensions from the computer at school but when I connect and get I have a similar folder(s) set up and then it downloads them into Dreamweaver file manager box and makes the folders there I downloaded. The site shows up fine in Dreamweaver after I "get" so great I thinking.
But... not so fast, I change the page in Dreamweaver, preview n a browser and look right on so I "put", connect to server and upload. Then I check online an its still the same I uploaded the CSS and HTML and dependent files by dragging over and also using the up arrow "put" as well but nothing changes on the web page online.
What is happening here I am so confused?
Thanks a bunch, I mean I can still preview as I go but I really curious why my "put" files don't change my web page like at all!

Have you tried refreshing the browser, or deleting the browser cache?
