Ipad 2 and GarageBand

This has happened to me twice in two weeks now. I've been working on a song on GarageBand on my iPad 2, when it suddenly crashes. When I try to re-open the application, GarageBand opens, indicates it is loading my song, and then crashes before anything else happens. I've tried closing and reopening GarageBand as well as restarting the iPad. What can I do to reaccess the music I had saved?

I just started having the same problem today. I was working on a song and all of a sudden it crashed. Now when I try to open the garageband app it shows the loading song text and then crashes and the top bar briefly flashes red.
I have tried repeatedly to reboot the iPad and re-open the app but it will not open. Very frustrating and I am concerned about losing my music!

I have a white USB adaptor that I use to connect my digital camera to my iPad. This morning I connected my guitar hero USB microphone into it and it worked using GarageBand !
I have not heard any distortions.... Is there anybody else out there that can also test this scenario ???
If you already have this mike, why pay more for another one that seems to do the same thing ??

ICloud on iPad and iPhone GarageBand

Hi,
A week ago or so, suddenly my iPad and iPhone Garageband Apps lost conenction with my iCloud and all the Garage Band Projects I had stored there.
The App kept saying: connecting with iCloud but never connected.
I decided to delete and reinstall the App in both devices, but onece done so, it was not fixed.
Even worse: The iPhone App is not working anymore. It starts, stays on a black screen for a while and it closes.
The iPad new instal works, but still does not connect with my iCloud files.
What is wrong with all this? I hope I can recover my work stored on the iCloud.

I recommend this part of the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant found here https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/application/.
If you get to step 3 I recommend closing ALL the apps. Here is step 2 to get you started:
See if there is an updated version of the app on your iPhone.
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All. iPhone will then download and install the app updates.
If prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. iPhone will then download and install the app updates.

I have done all the updates necessary and uploaded my songs from my iPad but GarageBand continues to tell me I need a more updated version to open them on my Mac. Any suggestions?

My iPad has iOS 7 as well.
If you have any advice it would be very appreciated, I have downloaded everything possible and can't seem to find a solution to this.

the latest version of GB for iOS requires the latest version of GB for the Mac which is version 10 (which is free, but also requires OS X 10.9 [though that is also free])

While I agree that it would be nice if it was easier to transfer media from your Apple devices they should never be used as the sole location for any of your media. They are too easily lost, stolen, damaged, or corrupted. The user tip above also includes a link to a suggested library backup strategy so that you can avoid being in the same position in future.

How come although iPads are getting more powerful, the iOS apps from apple are so mediocre and just not that great? We spend all this money for the latest ipad and all we get is these $5 video and music apps from apple. Why create the iOS platform and only offer so so apps like IMovie and GarageBand ? While other developers are offering much better apps like pinnacle studio for video, Cubasis and Auria for music production, apple has not showed much growth in terms of innovation. While there's nothing wrong with making an app like GarageBand where "anyone " can make a song, how about something for real musicians or an app not so basic as it get for video editing? After spending 0ver $700 on an ipad I'd be willing to spend more than $5 for a better video or audio app.

First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Connect Yamaha P-105 keyboard to ipad 2 garageband

I have a Yamaha P-105 piano keyboad. It's said to be an "iPad friendly" keyboard. I have the Camera Connection kit along with a AB USB cable. Everything fits, it's all plugged in correctly. But nothing happens. The sound of garageband still goes through the ipad and my piano still sounds like a piano. haha Do I need to get an Midi-USB cable? I don't see why the normal AB USB cable and the camera connection kit will not work. Thanks guys.

IPad and Camera Kit

I plan on getting the Apple "camera kit" for the iPad, so that I can upload photos and video from a camera while traveling.
Apple says that you will be able to transfer photos AND video.
But I had a question.
I will have a Canon DSLR T2i(rebel) that shoots 1080p HD video as well as 720p as well as 640 x 480 video.
I am also thinking of getting the smaller FLIP camcorders or the Kodak Zi8. They both shoot HD video, but the flip transfers via usb and the kodak has removable SD cards.
Basically, does anybody know if you'll be able to transfer 1080p video clips to the ipad? Or at least 720p HD clips?

Also...not a question, but I hope Apple releases a "lite" version of iLife(imovie/iweb/garageband) for the ipad, like they did with iwork.

I can't comment on 1080p but 720p videos from my Nikon D90 import and play on the iPad without a problem. RAW files and jpgs also import fine.
I also have a flip video ultra HD that will connect to the iPad and I can copy the files to the iPad but I cannot view them on the iPad. So with regards to the Flip video camera, the iPad can only be used as a backup device.
The weird thing is when I connect the flip video to the iPad, in the import screen, iphoto does show thumbnails for the individual clips. Perhaps, the flip video embeds a jpg thumbnail for sorting, preview, etc. or the ipads can view that file format but apple has decided not to include it in the OS.

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.

You can have a different receiving email in the Messages app on each device : Settings > Messages > Receive At . I'm not sure that there is a different way to have the message only go to one device.
