IPad 2 asks for wrong apple ID when updating apps.

My Dad let a friend borrow my iPad for a couple days. A few days later I tried to update my apps, but it was asking for my dad's friend's email password. I don't know what he did but every single app that needs to update is now under his apple ID. (even the ones downloaded under my account) When I check what account the apps were downloaded from they say my email, but when I try to update it, I'm asked for his password. It's really fusturating, and I've seen a few discussions with this problem but It doesn't help.
I've already tried to sign out of iTunes and back in but it didn't work
Restarting the iPad did nothing either.
I'm using an iPad 2 with iOS 5.1.1
If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

You're right... I don't understand and it is Weird... Because...
Any App or Download Obtained with a Particular Apple ID is Tied to that Apple ID.
Try this...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of the Account... > Settings  >  Store  >  Apple ID  =  Sign Out.
Perform a Reset and try again.
Reset... No Data or Settings will be lost...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • Wrong Apple ID when Updating App in App Store

When I try to update some apps on my iPhone through the App Store, it's requesting the password for the wrong apple ID. The apple ID it is requesting the password for belongs to a family remember.
I tried the following suggested solution:
    1) Logout of App Store & iTunes
    2) Delete the app that is requesting credential for the wrong apple id when updating
    3) Go to App Store and reinstall the app using the correct apple ID
This solution only works temporarily. When in the future if the app has an update again, it's requesting the wrong apple id again.
I think one possible issue could be that I am syncing the iPhone to the same computer that of my family member.
*Please note, do NOT ask me to sync to another computer. This is not possible .All iOS devices in my family are manged, backed up, and sync on one computer.
*My iPhone is iPhone 4S running iOS 7
*Other iOS devices are iOS 8

You'e got a mess on your hands. Let's see if this helps.
First, that app, and possibly others that you might not have noticed, were downloaded with a different Apple ID that the rest of your apps. Of course, apps and other content are forever tied to the apple ID used to purchase or download them. You didn't say where you are deleting the app, but it sounds like you're doing so on the device, but not on the computer. If that's the case, when you sync with the computer, you may be replacing the app on the device with the other from a different Apple ID.
I would suggest deleting the app completely from ALL devices, including the computer. Be sure you are logged in with the Apple ID used to download all the other apps and get it again from the App store through iTunes on your computer. Then sync it back to all devices that use it.
In general, this can now mostly be avoided if all your devices run iOS 8. Read about Family Sharing: http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/

  • Wrong apple ID when updating apps on iphone 4s

I just got a replacement iphone 4s which I then updated to the new ios 7. Now I have several apps that need to be updated but it keeps asking for my password to an old apple id. I have no way of accessing the old id through email and my new id is signed in on both my computer as well as my iphone under the itunes store and icloud. I have tried signing in and out with no sucess and I have rebooted my phone. Not sure what to do next.

All apps are forever tied to the ID used to obtain them & can only be updated using that ID. If you can no longer use that ID to update them, then you'll have to delete them, then purchase them again using your new ID.
You could also contact iTunes support, explain the situation & request they add these apps to the download queue of your new ID.

  • Wrong Apple ID when updating apps.

I have a MacBook Pro that was purchased back in 2009. I recently had some issues with it, but had it taken in and the problems resolved. I noticed, though, that when I wanted to update some apps from the App Store, that the wrong Apple ID was automatically signed in, prompting me to fill in the password. I have only ever used my Apple ID, but the one that keeps popping up with App Store is one I never even heard of, one I have never used before. Is there anyway to change the Apple ID? I have feeling the email belongs to someone from the Apple Store where I got it fixed. (The email that pops up on the prompt is light colored gray and whenever I try to click on the Apple ID to delete it, it won't let me.) Below is a screenshot of the prompt I am referring to.

Delete those applications and then download them from your Apple ID.

  • I changed my email associated with my apple id.  The app store asks for my old email when updating apps.

When I download a new app, the app store recognizes the new, correct email, however, when I try to update existing apps, I'm prompted with the old email.  Is this a bug?  How can I fix this?

It sounds like you created a new Apple ID rather than changing the old one. Which means that purchases made on the old Apple ID can only be updated using that ID.

Change it to an email address.

  • Every time I open my iPad it asks for my Apple ID?

Every time I open my iPad it asks for my Apple ID and password. The Apple ID is already loaded in the box is wrong; it isn't my own Apple ID.

So, to whom does the Apple ID belong?
If this is a used iPad, the previous owner needs to remove it from their cloud account so you can put it in your name.
Apps purchased by an Apple ID are forever linked to that ID, not the iPad.

  • How can I get my iPhone to stop promting me to enter my wife's Apple ID when updating apps? I've checked settings for iTunes

How can I get my iPhone 6 to stop prompting me to enter my wife's Apple ID when updating apps? I have verified in settings that my acct is listed in itunes & App Store, as well as icloud. i can download new apps fine. Have shut down phone and re-powered, have tried plugging into my iMac while signed into my iTunes acct. Can't figure out what to do next?

Is the comp a synced device to your apple ID and approved as an active device for this synchronization?
Just cloud the sync once, activate the comp to your apple I'd in iTunes, ensure all software is up to date, turn on home sharing between the devices and you can reinstall the apps from the apple id purchase history via download.
You basically cleaned out the canonical data apple uses to validate all that, which was backup data. Like iOS devices have the purchased option on the App Store now, syncing the devices via the home sharing and properly activating them will give your comp the purchased cloud and free up 10gs of space on the precious solid states smaller drives.
    Hope that helps...
If you need to know the menu to find this info, let me know. But the info is easily accessible in the help menu.

  • Iphone keeps asking for wrong apple id password

So my phone kept asking for my apple id a few weeks ago, spamming and spamming it, on my 4gs, and i couldnt figure out the password so i couldnt log in. then just today i got the iphone 5, and created a new apple id, not using my old one for anything... yet it keeps asking me for it when im trying to update/download apps. ive tried to log out and log in again.. doesnt work. i dont know whats wrong?

My son had a similar problem when he got a new macbook. It would not let him update software on his brand new macbook.
Calling Apple support did not get it resolved.
Emailing iTunes (because they don't talk to you directly) didn't help. (somehow it was related to iTunes)
Making a Genius appt at the Apple store helped on the second try.
It should be they just delete the original id but I guess that is not done lightly due to thefts.
If I were you I would still call, email, and then get to the Apple store if you have to.
They had told us it was a rare situation and a complicated fix.  That was last year and maybe it's easier now.  Good luck.

  • When i try to download facebook it ask for my apple password when i give it than it says my apple account is disable. how do i get it enable?

I have just purchased an iphone and I am trying to get facebook on my phone. When I get the app to upload it is asking for my apple password. I put that into the phone and it gives me a message "your apple id has been disabled." Now when I log into apple i have no problem with my apple id or the password. How can I get my phone to read I have a good account with apple?

you need to contact iTunes store support for that, it's possible that they will refer you to an AppleCare Account Security Team
    1. Go to expresslane.apple.com
    2. select 'itunes' and then 'itunes store' on the right
    3. select a topic and a subject
    4. click 'continue' and then 'email'
    5. fill out the form and explain your situation
    6. they will respond within 24 hours usually
    Good luck

  • Iphone app store asks for old apple id when i try to update apps

I recently reset my apple id. However when I try to update apps in my iphone it asks for my old apple id info. When I enter this in it states that the info is incorrect and needs to be reset. However when I download new apps the app store asks for my recently updated apple id info. When I have tried to delete the apps that need to be updated and buy them again, I was charged for the app. As a result I cannot update any apps. How can I fix this?

You changed it wrong. You should have done it this way:

  • TS5223 Iphone asks for old apple id when trying to erase iphone

Hi i need to erase my old phone as i have a new one. When i go to erase it, it asks for an old apple id which i havent used in years! I have been using a different id for years.
I do not know the password to this account any more and when i click 'forgot my
Password' it must send the reset option to an old email address which i do not have anymore. It does not let me choose an email address to send it to and im not recieving anything. Also the security question which asks me my date of birth doesnt work for me either.
    Why!
Why cant it just be simple to erase my old phone. I have never even used this old account with this iphone.
It may have done this since i restored my
Iphone ready for the new phone?
    Please help!

Had apple support help me with this:
On your computer, go to appleid.apple.com, and sign in using your current apple ID.
Once signed in, change the primary email address to the one your phone is asking you for (ie. your old apple ID), enter the password you want to use for iCloud.
Go to your iPhone --> Settings --> iCloud.  Now you can enter the password for the old apple ID.  Delete the account.
Go back to your laptop, change the primary email address back to the current one. Now you'll be able to enter your current apple ID and password on your device -- should be good as new!

  • App store (OSX) asking for wrong Apple ID

    Hi all,
I work as an IT technician for a UK University. I have recently setup a new MacBook Pro for one of our users. As part of the setup I installed all the updates via system menu->software update. To do this I was prompted for my Apple ID which I entered and the updates proceeded to download and install.
However now the machin has been passed to it's user, and when they try and update they are prompted for my Apple ID, and cannot change the ID, we have even tried signing out in the App store and signing in as them, but they are still prompted for my Apple ID.
Is there a way to resolve this even if we have to re-download the updates.
    Cheers.
    Phill.

Well it's actually a MacBook Pro, not an iPad.......
But I was planning to try a re-install of OS, to see if that would fix it. Laptop is back with it's owner currently so she can back her data up first.
Since this was supplied with 10.9 pre-installed is there a way we can get a restore image ? Since 10.9 only seems to be available as an upgrade to 10.8 through the App store, or will 10.8 install on a current MacBook Pro ?
    Cheers.
    Phill.

  • IPad mini Uses wrong Apple ID to update apps

Asks for password for another account. Have updated account settings, logged out and logged back in

It is asking for the password for the account that was originally used to purchase the App. Apps are tied to the purchase account and can't be transferred between accounts.
If you wish to eliminate this then delete the App and repurchase it under your correct Apple ID.

    Incorrect...
Re-Downloading Paid Apps for Free only works if using the SAME Apple ID that made the Original Purchase.
