IPAD 2 attachment problem (mime) -exchange 2003

I 'm using exchange 2003 server with activesync support. The majority of the attachments sent to ipad
are not showing pdf, xls etc (I get only the mime icon). I tried using different mail format as suggested by apple html, rtf, plain still not working
Could you please advise if possible?

Before I realized it was working fine through 3G I completely re-setup my exchange email just in case. No luck there. Everything else (including laptops) are connecting to exchange via WiFi with no problem so I'm pretty confident the network itself is not the issue and am also confident that the iPad/iPhone exchange setup is correct. Obviously since it works 3G it must be right.

Cannot Uninstall Exchange 2003 from former SBS2003 server

Hi,
I have this problem uninstalling Exchange 2003 from a prior SBS2003 installation.
Started with SBS2003 with Exchange2003 on server1
Then added server2, with Exchange2003 Standard
Then transitioned succesfully Server1 from SBS2003 to Server2003 Standard with Exchange2003 standard.
Now I have added 3 Exchange2010 servers and migrated completely to Exchange2010.
Uninstallation of Exchange2003 Standard from Server2 went succesfully.
I cannot find a way to uninstall the last Exchange2003 Standard from Server1
In Control Panel add remove programs there's no option to enter SBS setup anymore.
When starting setup.exe from SBS CD2 (i386 directory) I'm asked for a Product Key but I have no valid key to enter. Tried SBS key, Transition key, nothing works.
When downloading an Exchange2003 SP2 installation exe I only have the option to upgrade the existing installation. No option to uninstall.
What is the way forward? I'm stuck right now.

If you don't uninstall exchange 2003 in Control Panel add/remove programs, you may need to uninstall it by ADSIEDIT. Do not remove this Administrative Group unless you’re absolutely sure there’s
no object in Active Directory referencing this Administrative Group in the ExchangeLegacyDN attribute.

Maximum message size is determined by the mail server (Exchange in your case), not by the Mail app on your iPad. There are two settings in Exchange 2003 related to message size: One for incoming messages, one for outgoing. Both can be set to Unlimited, or to some number of kilobytes Exchange 2003 is a long time ago for me, but if I remember correctly the default size limit is 10240 KB (10 MB). Once those are set, the admin can also create policies to modify those limits for specific situations. You really need to ask your Exchange administrator how he/she has the max size configured.

IPhone 4S IOS5 problems sync Calendar with Exchange 2003

One of my users is having problems sync Calendar with a brand new iPhone 4S running IOS5 and our Exchange 2003 Server. If an item is updated in Outlook it will not reflect it in the iPhone or viceversa. New items show up in both, only the updates in notes or changing some text in the subject or other elements in one side is not updated in the other side. Any help will be greatly appreciate.

Hi man, I got the same problem with my iPhone, but it has been solved..
First, You need the Outlook 2003 or 2007 only, if you have a earlier version of this it isn't work.
Second, You sould need to create a new PST file whit the Outlook Version 2003 or 2007, the file format must be on Unicode Format, no Outlook (97-2000) format, with this file format the import of calendar doesn't gonna be work.
Third, You now have a PST whit Outlook 2003 or 2007 Version, you need to manually put your events on the calendar, Why? Cause if you just move it on the new calendar it gonna create and old instance of the event not a new instance, That's why iTunes doesn´t sync the calendar.
I done all these and actually I can sync the calendar with my iphone.

Get Some Problems when Installing Exchange 2003 Portlet

I am trying to setup exchange 2003 portlet, all the prerequisitions are done. I follow the installation guide (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/point/exchange2003/installation.html) and all works well till to step 6(Test the ASP page access to the sample Exchange 2003 mailbox). I am sure all the parameters passing in the url are correct, but still get and http not found error.
I have referenced the thread here(Re: Installing Microsoft Exchange 2000 Portlets which said that the cdo lib should be registered first. But i still have this problem after i have register the exchange server 2003's cdo lib which version should be 1.21. So i am wondering whether the cdo version is restricted, if it does, which cdo version should i use in Exhcange 2003 environment? the 2000 one?
i will appreciate anyone who gives me suggestions or hints to solve this problem.

Exchange 2003 - Apple Mail problems

Very strange problem occurred this morning. I've seen numerous posts with similar characteristics, but no resolution. I'll try to be as detailed and concise as possible:
Problem: Can't connect to Exchange server to send or receive mail
Symptoms:
- Mail's Activity viewer show's "Logging in as user 'username'" for long periods
- Mail's Activity viewer show's "Comparing notes with server" for long periods, if it gets this far
- Mail's Activity viewer displays "Synchronizing with server" for long periods, if it gets this far
- Mail's Activity viewer displays extremely slow download of mail headers, if it gets this far
- Entourage v.X and 2004 clients can connect without problem via Exchange protocol, whereas Mail clients (v1.3.11 and 2.0.7) using Exchange or IMAP cannot
- Mozilla Thunderbird clients can connect without problem via IMAP
- PC clients using Outlook 2003 for Exchange have no problem at all
I'd love to get this resolved without having to reinstall clients building-wide. I'm not convinced this isn't related directly to Exchange 2003 and/or Active Directory, but suspecting and proving are two different things. Additionally, Mail seems to be the only client affected.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. As always, if we find a resolution, I'll gladly post it here for everyone's benefit.

This problem is endemic for me, but I find that it's the worst with large mailboxes. One user I have has 7700+ messages in her inbox and simply can't synch with Exchange 2003 using Apple Mail (Tiger). Others see the slowdown initially, but then it goes away and new mail comes in. I don't think it's the Exchange server because I use the same config every day, with 1200+ messages in my inbox and many more in my folders, with barely any slowdowns. I theorize that the large number of messages in the inbox and folders has something to do with it - I had some success with another user by taking lots of msgs out of the inbox and moving folders out of the inbox too.
Entourage v. X works fine, but I don't have Entourage 2004 to compare it with. Outlook 2003 on the Windows side is fine too. It's just Macs running Tiger with Mail 2.0.7 that have delays. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated!!

Problem with IOS7.1 and zip file on Exchange 2003

After the update to IOS 7.1 an mail from Exchange 2003 mail server with a zip file.
the zip file cannot unzipped by any app.

There's a patch available for this problem.

i have set the java classpath in my Classpath Environment Variable.

Ipad and exchange 2003 downloads all email every time and is very slow. We get "no sender" dated 1/1/70 during process.

Ipad has become very slow to sync with exchange 2003. suspect IOS releases have IPad beyond older exchange software but need to understand why sync email is so slow and seems to re-download entire mailbox every time sync runs. i have two iPads running different mail, one is my work gmail, one my personal mail. Upgraded my personal mini iPad to iOS 7.1.2 and started getting emails dated 1/1/1970, no sender no content coming I daily, the disappear after a few seconds.
on my other work iPad I haven't upgraded yet am still on iOS 7 but it stopped syncing my email on Friday. I generated a new google password and entered it and when my mail came in there were many emails dated 1/1/1970 with no sender or content, again they disappeared a few seconds later.
What's going on with the mail?

Remove Exchange 2003 Problem

We are trying to upgrade our 2010 Exchange to 2013 Exchange but install tells us that 2003 Exchange cannot be on our domain. We used to have 3003 Exchange but someone uninstalled it but parts of uninstall failed. How can I remove the recognition
of 2003 Exchange in our 2010 Exchange manager? It shows 1 Exchange 2003 server but we want to remove that server from our domain. Thanks.

Yeah, removing an Exchange server is never an easy job. According to your description, only some partitions of your Exchange 2003 server aren't removed. In this case, I recommend you remove your Exchange 2003 server through ADSIEdit:
Navigate to this path:CN=Configuration,DC=DOMAIN,DC=LOCAL>CN=Services>CN=Microsoft Exchange
>CN=EXCHANGE_ORG>CN=Administrative Groups>CN=First Administrative Group
Right-click and hit delete your Exchange 2003 server in the container CN=server.

Exchange 2003 migrate to Exchange 2010 - single forest multiple domain. Active Sync problem

I have AD single forest and multiple domain. for example, the forest domain is jakarta.co.id, and the other domain is bali.co.id.
Exchange 2003 deployed in jakarta.co.id, User mail enabled in domain jakarta.co.id and bali.co.id.
Then, I upgrade to Exchange 2010 (deploy in jakarta.co.id) and move mailbox from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.
All users in bali.co.id are able to access email from Owa, BlackBerry (BIS), Outlook, but cannot access from Android, Windows Phone. (Active-Sync).
I got error information generated from https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com, as following:
Attempting the FolderSync command on the Exchange ActiveSync session.
The test of the FolderSync command failed.
Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it
Additional Details
Exchange ActiveSync returned an HTTP 500 response (Internal Server Error).
Active-Sync still not work even I check option "Include inheritable permissions from this object" in security tab.
any idea to fix this issue?

Having problems connecting iPhone 5 with our company's Exchange 2003. Is this a known issue and is there a fix?

I'm not the only one in our company experiencing this, so far i haven't heard of anyone with an iPhone 5 who is able to connect. I'm wondering if people in other companies that have Exchange 2003 also have the same issue or is this isolated to ours.
The errors i get are not being able to verify: "Unable to verify account information." This used to happen before but when i chose to save settings, it would usually work after a while. But this time, with the iPhone 5, i kept getting "Cannot Get Mail" "The connection to the server failed".
I did this with a restore from back up, and a wiped phone, same results. My colleague with a fresh out of the box phone with no previous IOS backups, also has the same errors.
So, anyone else still using Exchange 2003 and experiencing the issues?

I got exchange mail working. It seems issue is around "Push". I enabled "push", account verified & all worked well. After that I disabled push (I do not want it & to save mobile data use).
By googling, I found many have got it up & apple may fix it in it next iOS udpate.

HELP! Exchange 2003 Portlet Integration Problems

I am setting up Oracle Portal for my company and would like to use the Exchange 2003 portlets for each users home page. After multiple attempts to get it working, our DBA and Application Server expert has run into the following road block:
User authentication fails when different users try to access the exchage 2003 portlet inside portal. One person, the first one configured, can access his mail, but everyone else is denied.
Since each employee is linked to a specific mail account on our company's Exhange server, do we need to create an external application portlet for each persons home page (300-400 estimated)?
Or, should we be able to pass <inputParameters> from the external application provider through to an employee's home page and use only 1 external application porlet? Is there a way to pass in their mailbox name and password by using SSO and page parameters?
I need to roll this out over the next couple months and would REALLY like to have this feature.

Can't send replies using Exchange 2003 account - smtp works fine if I type an address?

We have new IPad users trying to connect to an Exchange 2003 Mail Server. Everything works well EXCEPT if they try to REPLY TO any message - it brings up a generic "check your mail settings" error every time.
If we compose mail by hand, it sends OK
If we use a contact, send mail to them, it works fine.
We also have IPad users connected to a 2010 Exchange Server, no such problems.
Anyone have similar issues? Any advice on a fix?

I've got 38 iPhones deployed running the 3.1.2 OS against an Exchange 2007 server. Several of my users complain about the same issue, and I've seen it myself. I have found a workaround of sorts - I've found that if I've sent a message with an attachment and I get a failure to send, if I manually browse down to the Sent Items folder, that forces a replication of the Sent Items. The next time I do a manual sync, the e-mail with the attachment will go.
I presume this has something to do with Exchange trying to put a copy of the e-mail in to your Sent Items at the same time the iPhone is trying to send the message.
Potentially, this might be solved by turning off the option to always store your sent e-mails in the Sent Items. I have not yet tested that as a workaround as from a corporate standpoint and an ease-of-use standpoint, we want that e-mail in the Sent Items for reference.
If anyone has any success with this fix, please let me know.
