Ipad 2 Back camera does not open

Just bought an ipad 2. the back camera does not open! can't take pictures! any suggestions?

The only other thing I could suggest is restoring the ipad. Here is a link. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 I have heard of cases where the camera was malfunctioning and they have had to replace the ipad

My back camera does not focus on my iphone 5s, it worked fine yesterday, today it does not work. The camera lens is clean. The front camera works fine. The camera will not focus in the Instagram app either. I tried restarting the phone and resetting it but that has not fixed the issue. Ipod touch camera does not open

have ipod touch, model PC547ZP version 5
upgraded to OS 5 had all worked till other day now the camera will not open.
tried powering on and off with no change
know can restore but conserned might lose data etc
anyone know of anything I can do to resovle this other than resetting it

Maybe this can resolve it (you should normally not lose data following this method):
1) Sync your iPod touch with iTunes (iTunes will also create a backup automatically).
2) Reset your iPod touch: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430

Try closing the Camera app via the taskbar and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Camera app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I had an update on ios and my camera works like it did. I was fooling around and found the camera icon at the bottom of my ipod next to the "slide to unlock" bar. If
I slid the camera up, my camera window would open.

If the camera shows a closed lens or black image, you may want to force close the app. You can force close an app by following these steps from article http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
Tap and hold on the app.
When it starts to jiggle, tap the red circle with the - to close it.
Double-click the Home button and try opening the app again

No, the camera connection kit only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app, it doesn't support copying content off the iPad. For your second camera instead of the SD reader part of the kit, does the iPad to camera cable not work with it for direct transfer to the iPad ?
For Lightroom and Nikon software again no - you can only install apps that are available in the iTunes app store on your computer and the App Store app on the iPad, 'normal' PC and Mac (OS X) software are not compatible with the iPad (iOS). There are some apps that perform fairly basic editing functions that are available in the store, but nothing as sophisticated as, for example, Lightroom.

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Then restart your iPad.
See if that makes a difference.

While written for the iPhone, the troubleshooting below can help resolve issues with your iPad's camera, as well.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

Take the iPhone to an Apple store genius bar for testing, and if it is defective and under warranty they will replace. Since you say iPhone 4, was this a used or refurbished iPhone?
