IPad 2 battery/battery replacement

Hello on september i got an iPad 2 given to me from my friend. im not sure how long she has had it. ive had it now since september. and i always follow battery saving tips. i put my brightness to the lowest and now i recodnise some changes in my battery just after the IOS 7 update. So to test how long my battery lasts i use the stopwatch (clock app) to time how many minuets it takes to drop 1% of the iPads battery. I timed it and it is only 5 minuets so if i times 100x 5 minuets is only 5 hours! it has dropped alot and all of my settings are the same. i know that every 3 years you require a battery replacement. I really enjoy using my iPad and i really need help. Im really upset.

Extrapolating from 1% to 100% is not very accurate. Fully charge your iPad and use it normally until the battery is exhausted to get a much better estimate.

  • Ipad 1 - battery replacement

I have 1st generation ipad 3G + WIFI that no longer powers up. I read about apple's battery replacement program. I'm in Canada so the cost is $119 + taxes. Does anyone know if apple would send me a refurbished device of the same model? If so, I think I may be better off putting that money towards a newer model. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Personally, I would rather put the cost towards a new iPad that is more capable and will run the newer iOS along with giving you the ability to run the newest apps. The iPad 1st gen is pretty much EOL (end of life) but that also depends on how long you are willing to accept it's life as.

  • IPad Air battery replacement.

Realizing that this is an issue for the future.  Do we anticipate that Apple will support the eventual replacement for a fee, when the battery of the iPad Air wears out.  I have read about how difficult it will be to DIY.  This info might have a bearing on whether to get one or not.

No reason to think that Apple will not offer battery replacement service for the iPad Air.

  • Is iPad 1 eligible for the battery replacement program?

Our Pad 1 battery is dead. Apple offers battery replacement for $99. Do they replace with refurbished iPad1 or newer iPad?

All iPad models means all iPad models..... I copied the text below from this website.

Your Apple One Year Limited Warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery, and there is no charge if your iPad is covered under warranty or an AppleCare product. You can check your coverage by entering your iPad serial number.
    Out-of-warranty battery service cost:
    All iPad models: $99
Plus a $6.95 shipping fee. Fees are in USD and exclude local tax.

  • Can my Ipad 3 have a battery replacement outside the country?

My Ipad 3 has a battery weared. It turns off when the battery drops to 80%. I plan go to Apple Store to have a battery replacement. But i purchased my Ipad in US and now I am in France. Is it possible to have this kind of replacement?
P/S: My Ipad is out of warranty 1 month ago

The fact that you bought it in the U.S. should not make any difference at all. I'm not so sure that they can replace your battery in an Apple Store, typically you have to send the device to Apple in order to have the battery replaced. You are supposed to contact them via the link here.

What is iPad Battery Replacement Service?
If your iPad requires service due to the battery's diminished ability to hold an electrical charge and it is not covered by Apple's one year limited warranty, the AppleCare Protection Plan, or statutory consumer rights, Apple will replace your iPad for a service fee. Please see these simple pointers to maximize iPad battery lifespan and battery life.
Note: Your iPad is not eligible for Battery Replacement Service if the product has been damaged, for example, as result of an accident, disassembly, or unauthorized modifications, or if the product is not operating correctly as a result of a component failure. Apple may run a diagnostic test to determine whether your iPad qualifies. Please review Apple's Repair Terms and Conditions for further details.
Apple's Limited Warranty and AppleCare Protection Plan benefits are in addition to rights provided by the EU statutory warranty. For details, click here.

Will the data on my iPad be preserved?
No, during the service process all data on your iPad will be erased. Before obtaining service, it is important to back up your data using iCloud or iTunes. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information while servicing your iPad and does not offer any data transfer service.
Following service your replacement iPad may have a newer operating system (iOS) version and you will need torestore your data using the method used to back it up (iCloud or iTunes). As a result, you may also need to update your App Store applications to ensure compatibility with the newer iOS. If you experience a problem with an application purchased from the App Store, check iTunes to see if an update is available or contact the application vendor directly.

  • Will apple give me a iPad 4 if i give my iPad 3 in for battery replacement???

I've actually got a iPad 4, but i just wanna know if they will give me a newer iPad if I give Apple a old one for battery replacement.

If you have an iPad that has failed due to materials or workmanship, and it's within the warranty period, Apple will provide a refurbished iPad of the exact same type.

  • IPad Battery Replacement

I have an iPad 1 since 2010 and was wondering how much it would roughly cost to change the battery when the time comes? All I could find is the Apple Battery page, but all it says under "iPad Owners" is that it would cost $99 under the one year warrenty. Obviously it has been quite a few years already since purchase date and so was thinking that the battery, like any other laptop battery out there, will need to be replaced sooner or later. So... I was wondering if anybody can redirect me to some information or could provide information about this topic? Thanks,

As far as I know, its 99 dollars.
The 'out of warranty' refers to...if your battery acts up during the first year and it's determined that it's a manufacturer's defect then the battery replacement is free.  but after that first year it's the $99
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/repair/battery-power/
although you've probably seen this page. Call Apple and talk to them. If the store near you does these minor fixes then you may not need to send your iPad in to get it fixed

  • Ipad battery replacement options

My Ipad 4th gen no longer powers on. Will apple replace it using the 99 dollar battery replacement option or does it have to turn on and fail the battery test before they can do this?

What happens when you plug it into the charger that was supplied with it? How do you know the battery is bad? What are the symptoms the device is relaying to you (besides not powering on) that makes you believe the battery is indeed bad?
You can make a reservation at your local Apple Store's Genius Bar (you'll need your Apple ID) to have it evaluated for free to verify that the battery is indeed bad.
Try a device reset...the device could merely be locked-up:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • IPad 2 battery drain after iOS 5.0.1 update!!!

iPad 2 battery is draining way too fast after the 5.0.1 update - I've lost over 10% just browsing the apple site over wifi for about 10 minutes - with no other apps running. NOT ACCEPTABLE APPLE!!!
Same issue with my iPhone 4 that went from 62% when I went to bed last night to completely dead this morning - unused!!
Apple - roll 5.0 back out to replace this battery leech. I need to be able to actually USE my products.

    Shirley 123 wrote:
Same issue here! I've been reading on my fully-charged iPad and the battery is down to 78%. Never did this before the latest update. Yesterday, iPad quit before my usual evening reading!  Any solutions!
I have personally seen the problem and corrected it on numerous models now including the 4S, 4, 3GS and iPad 2s.  Corrupt system level settings created by an iOS 5 bug in the original release that caused battery recalibration issues, etc.  Just installing the update does not fix the issue in most cases (sometime it initially can be worse).  You need to clear out those settings and recalibate the battery.  For those still having the "standby battery drain" issue follow the procedure below in order.  It does fix the problem in most cases.
Go through these steps to address the battery after updating to iOS 5.0.1:
    1. Reset all settings (settings app-> general-> reset)
    2. Go through initial setup steps (lang, wifi, siri, enable location, etc) and choose setup as new phone (don't worry your apps, data, contacts, mail will still be there). At this point, Do NOT restore from iCloud or iTunes (It can copy back corrupt settings)
    3. Turn off system location services timezone and iAd
    4. Fully discharge battery  (tilll it shuts off with the spinning wheel)
    5. Fully recharge battery (overnight if possible)
In my experience this improves the Standby battery drain issue significantly in most cases.  It reduces drain from 2-4% or more per hr to 0.5% or less. It has worked for many, many users now. If it does not work after a few try's you may have a real battery or hardware issue and should contact Apple.  Good Luck!

  • Ipad mini battery problems

hello i have a ipad mini and recently i have been having some problems with it for around one week, i normally leave it charging through the night and when i wake up my ipad says that my battery is at 100% when i take it of the charger it says 99%. so i restart it and the ipad says that the battery is back to 100% (this happens every single morrning)
now this morrning i woke up and my battery was 100% so i took it of the charger and said it was on 99% i went to have a shower and when i came back the ipad was displaying that i had 88% so i restarted it and it said that i had 88% not 100% even though it had no use while i was in the shower.
so how can a battery drop that much in 30 mins
    PLEASE HELP ME!!

You probably need to recalibrate the battery. See link below.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

iPAD 3 battery charging issues. Read most of the discussions. My question is: If I take my iPAD to Apple Genius bar - what's the test they do to qualify for a replacement (do they place it on a charge and see the charge for Y% for X minutes or do they have other methods)

So basicaly I have this iPad 3 for 2 years now, and the battery keeps on draining. I'm not sure if it reached it charging times limit. I've tried everything possible, disable unneeded stuff, turn off background refresh, auto brightness etc. I've even booked a Genius Bar appointment and the person checked my iPad's calibration and it was OK, and he said its not needed and the cost (in CAD) would be about the same for a new iPad. Also charging is freaking slow too, even when I don't use the iPad while charging. Solutions will be appreciated if there's none I'll wait until the holidays and buy a iOS 8 iPad

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good. If your computer/iTunes does not recognize the iPad, then the cable is probably bad.
