Ipad 2 battery dies quick

Hi i had this ipad 2 for 2 months now and the battery dies very quick what can i do to not make it die so fast and another problem is when i have it plugged in my laptop it says not charging on the ipad in the corner what do i do for that i think it says not charging when it is plugged in a wall outlet please help me to resolve these two problems thank you

There are tips for maximising battery life between charges on this page : www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html
In terms of not charging when connected to your computer, a lot of computers (especially older ones) generally do not provide enough power to their USB ports in order to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.
If it says not charging when you are using the iPad wall charger, then have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. Otherwise have you tried a different charger and/or cable ? Do you know anybody else with an iPad so that you can try their charger and cable and they can try yours ?

aslo it shuts down unxpectedly (sometimes shuts down at 30% then i cant restart it until i blog it to the charger)
and sometimes jumps from 40% to 20% or from 20% to 3%
i have done many things people recommanded it for me like :
restore : i've done two restores and it gets better for the first 1-2 weeks then it gets worse than before.
also deleted my music list (19gb) in order to make this better (as recommended) but it still the same
my screen brightness is always ALWAYS low , almost the lowest.
i close the apps when i finish using them ALL OF THEM
i dont use the camera and flash , almost rarely. just to save battery.
i dont use the location service always.
i dont charge my phone until it shuts down and i dont unblog it until it reachs 100%

Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • My ipod shuffle battery dies quickly.  Any suggestions?

My ipod shuffle battery dies quickly and when I plug it in to charge it just blinks orange. . .

    Hello jharris1222,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The blinking orange status light indicates that the device is syncing with iTunes.  Please see the following for more information:
Blinking orange indicates that the unit is syncing with iTunes or that disk use was enabled in iTunes. In this state, iPod shuffle may be charging or fully charged. Check the charge status icon next to the iPod shuffle in iTunes or eject iPod shuffle from iTunes but leave it connected to USB and determine if the status light changes to solid green or solid orange.

What if battery dies quick on new ipod 5 what do i do w out a receipt?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Enter the iPod's SN here. If it says you have warranty coverage no receipt is required.

  • IPad battery draining quickly - tried everything, please help!?

Ive noticed recently that my iPad battery is rapidly draining.  I've even noticed a 20% decrease just overnight while locked, which has NEVER happened.  I've googled and research and tried everything possible.  So does anyone have some options I might be missing?
    Using 7.1.2, iPad 2.

Try this first -  Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Battery Dies Quickly Since 3/08 security Update

I'm not entirely sure they're connected but very near the latest security update, I noticed that my Mac Book Pro 15 inch, drains its battery extraordinarily quickly, like in 15 minutes, or it has also just shut down without warning.
It's not a terrible issue but not something I'd expect from Apple.
    Nothin but Macs since '84,
    David

Since no one answered, may be you should take the computer to apple store and show them about it, it's safe this way. Hope they would help you, they suppose to.

  • Battery dies quick when watching a movie

When I watch a movie on my 30gb ipod, the battery dies super fast. I have never made it through a movie without it dying. What is going on? What should I do?

Video does use up battery power a lot faster than music does. However, you should at least be able to get through a single movie (assuming your movie is about 90-minute-2 hrs or so). How long do you get on the battery for music?

  • TS3274 iPad battery discharges quickly

My iPad battery doesn't stay charged very long.

The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A."  The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC.  Do NOT use an iPhone charger.  Do NOT use an iPod charger.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter..
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • I have a classic 80gb and my battery dies quickly

My battery dies way to fast, and ideas on why it does that?

    Which iPod do I have?
From the age it's probably a 5th gen. classic. 6 years is a good innings for a rechargeable battery. Battery technology is evolving, but generally they don't like to be run really flat - that is so flat that the device shuts down and then the device not used for an extended period so that any residual charge is also consumed. Neither do they like to be used a just little bit and then topped up. The world is full of laptops with batteries that barely run 10 minutes because they've always been used on power. Somewhere between the extremes will give better life.

  • My ipad2 battery dies quickly since I downloaded ios7

My ipad2 could hold a charge for days. Now since downloading ios7 it dies out in a few hours. I've turned off a lot of things and deleted apps but no better.

    http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/19/ios-7-battery-life-fix/
also let it completely die out to where the ipad powers off, then let the ipad charge fully without using it.

  • IPad battery discharging quickly.

Guys, I have an iPad "1", model A1219.
Recently the battery is lasting a short time. I have to charge it for more than 1 day and no more than 60% load. Without making any use in an early morning, the battery ends when the day comes.
    What can I do?

    try clearing the multi-tasking
double click the home button til the bar at the bottom pulls up. your finger down on an app til it starts to jiggle and click on all the red minius sign and see how many you have open

  • Battery dies quickly

I have had this happen a couple of times, and it is confusing. Today I was listening to a podcast before lunch and paused the iPod and turned off the screen before leaving. When I got back about an hour later the iPod was almost dead.
This is odd because I had it charging all night. It was only used for about an hour total today.
This shouldn't be happening at all because it should last 22 hours on music, right? Anybody else have a similar issue?

If Wi-Fi is on this will drain a lot of battery. Make sure that you pause the podcast when you are leaving your iPod for a while. Other than that if it continue to loose battery quickly, bring it to the Apple Store.

  • IPhone 4 battery dies quickly, won't charge properly and is very hot!

Hi, my iPhone 4 won't charge properly and the battery drains really fast plus the handset is very hot. Does it need a new battery?
It just suddenly started happening yesterday before lunch and hasn't been right since! I haven't done any software updates or anything that could cause it. I e tried deleting my mail accounts, turning phone off and re installing them as suggested in one post but that didn't work!
    Thanks
