This is a question best asked at your local apple store or to Apple themselves. We're just fellow users and we can't know for sure what they'll do or not do. Sorry.

  • My iPad has red bleeding through the screen.

My iPad has red bleeding through the screen. The background is solid red behind everything on the page. What causes this?
Is there a fix for this?

On a different thread, someone suggested dropping the iPad on its back onto a carpeted floor. I did this from about two feet high with no effect. Then tried from about 3.5 feet high, and VOILA the red disappeared! Many others reported same miraculous fix. Hope it works for you!

  • IPad 4 Backlight Bleed

I recently got my iPad 4 replaced for a stuck pixel, but when i got the replacement, while i was watching a movie in my room with the lights turned off i see some light bleeding it's not really noticeable in a well lit room but when i'm in a dark environment it is very evident. Do you think Apple will replace my device?
Here is how my screen looks like

Your logic is all off.  There are bunch of idiots (Apple extremists included) out there that are willing to spend thousands on iPads despite screen flaws exist on these devices.  Your second sentence makes no sense however as they cancel each other out. We know the issue exists obviously.

You made a reference to hundreds of complaints and I compared that to total sale numbers. Any mass-produced product is going to have a certain "yield rate" of products that meed quality assurance expectations. Apple's quality expectations are the highest in the industry and have been for decades. There will always be some failures. Any consumer product from Rice Krispies to Mercedes have manufacturing flaws and recalls. It simply isn't possible to have 100.000% perfection. The only thing significant about Apple in this respect is that Apple gets closer to 100% than most other companies.
I am surprised you still haven't understood what I meant. Read my previous reply. I am not the one comparing "hundreds of complaints" to the total number of iPad sales. You did. Which is not a valid comparison as the number of complaints reported on forum is nowhere accurate. The complaints made in forums may be only accounted less than 1% of the total number of iPads people experiencing with screen flaws. This was already said in my previous post but you obviously didn't understand...  maybe reading several times you will eventually get it.
Let's see if I can translate that into codger for all of my lawn-defending grandparent friends...
It's true (obvious) that Apple only supports very specific sets of video file types. Every other types widely used in today's world are not supported. You have to put up with a third party app to barely play them, even then you will run into compatibility issues or bugs and ipad crashes.
    iPad doesn't support Blu-Ray.
OK. So? I don't even own a TV. What do I care about Windows HTPC? Let me introduce you to another old man, Yogi Berra,  who was obviously describing Apple Stores when he said "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."
Hey I'm not the one said iPad doesn't support Blu-Ray. That's a different subject and not related to "screen flaws" I am talking about. Keep on topic.  You don't own a TV?  That's not very bright. How will you watch movies with your friends or family or guests??  Are you going to hand them out iPads and have them watch over AirX?  You've got to be joking...
Your advice to the original poster was incorrect. Anyone who is unsatisfied with the quality of an Apple product should take it back to the store. If the people at the Apple store say the display is within specifications, then there is logically no point in continuing to exchange it. Apple will only exchange it for another previously-returned iPad that falls withing quality assurance specifications. If that isn't good enough then they can, indeed, return the iPad and get a Windows HTPC if they so desire.
My advice was good.  Keep replacing with another one over and over only to find out there is more flaws to the screen is a waste of time and money for the buyer himself as well as for the distributor / manufacturer.  Keep returning for several times (some people return 15 times+) is a bad practice and it is a abuse for the economy.  Just stick with a flaw screen or return it for a refund.  Don't go playing exchange game like that.  It's stupid.

  • IPad 2 'backlight bleed'?

We have three iPad's in the family, two iPad 2's and one iPad.  My iPad 2, which I have had since last August, has a fairly bright and noticeable light shining in from the left hand edge of the display.  This is what I would call 'backlight bleed'.
Is this a known issue and, if so, given the amount of money I paid for it, I don't want it repaired so I entitled to have it replaced under warranty?

    Hi
    Thank you for your response.
I'll have a look at the thread you included and see how my iPad 2 compares but, what I would like is a black or reasonably dark wallpaper to check out if there are any other parts of the display which also have this issue.
Any suggestions on where I could find such a wallpaper?
It's too early to say about what I'd like to do but I would certainly not accept any repair and I'm sure Apple Support would be very understanding, especially as the iPad 2 is only just 4 months old?

  • What Apple told me about iPad 2 light bleeding

When I went to the store, the genius told me that the light bleeding will do away over time because of the glue drying. Is this true, did anybody have any luck?

iPad 1's have light leakage. This is not a new issue and is most noticeable when watching a movie in the dark and it's a dark scene. At least I experienced this with my iPad Wifi (which I later returned) and then also my iPad WiFi + 3G (which I ebayed). I can't speak for my iPad 2 because it's still in China probably being assembled. I will say that the light leakage issue was definitely annoying for me and Apple really did not have a solution for the problem. What's really going to be interesting is to see whether the white iPad (which is the model I purchased) has any light leaking through the white border around the screen. We shall see.

  • Is the iPad 2 light bleeding issue fixed yet?

Did Apple finally fix the issue of light bleeding from under the bezel or are defective iPad 2s
    still being sold?
    Anybody knows?
    Regards

    Hey everyone,
Just purchased my iPad 2 yesterday from the Apple Store in Birmingham. It was the last one left in the store so you can imagine how happy I was to get one finally! However I have also noticed mine is suffering from this backlight bleeding problem, in quite a few spots around the screen. I also have either a couple of dead pixels or a large piece of dust stuck under the glass in the middle of the screen, which is equally annoying. Will Apple exchange this for me? Should I ring up the nearest Apple store and see what they'll do? I love this device and just wanna get on and use it, but for the money I'm paying I don't think I should put up with defects. What's everyone's advice?

  • IPad air light bleeding

Hello! I'm aware that many older generation iPads have this problem where light leaks out of the side of the screen when the iPad is being used in a dark environment with a dark image on the screen. However I think it's more rare on the iPad Air which is what I've got and I can see some leakage (please see the photos bellow). Although the leakage isn't that bad at all and I can put up with it I am worried that in a year or so time the problem will get worse. Does anybody think I should take this to the Apple Store before my warranty runs out? Do you know if the problem deteriorates over time?

Oops. The link might not work. It doesn't really matter anyway, just imagine a tiny bit of white botching around the edge of the screen. The main thing I'm worried about is if this will get worse?

  • IPad 2 light bleeding is receding?

I will confirm in the next few days, but, my light leakage is not as severe as yesterday.
Maybe it is connected with the drying of the screen glue.
The next few days will tell, I guess.
    Anybody else?

any sense, technically, with how glue drying would/wouldn't deliver a light bleed?
admittedly am not an expert on LCD technology, but it seems weird to me that less-than-dry glue (meaning more pliable and flexible) would create the light bleed so many have been documenting.
on the two iPad2s that i've had (both returned), the light bleed was localized to a particular spot(s) on the screen edge and reacted differently than the rest of the screen edge when i pressed them directly. in places where there was no light bleed i saw no reaction on the screen when i applied pressure...but when i applied pressure to the areas experiencing light bleed, the bleeding got worse.
again, no LCD expert, but it "looks" like the gasket that surrounds the screen may be pressing on the LCD array in some spots more than it should. if that's the case, then it won't go away with time...and has zero to do with glue drying.

  • My iPad has screen bleeding

Can I return it? And is the next one I get going to have the same problem?

"Can I return it? "  If it is within the return policy period of the store from which you purchased it.
It has a one year warranty.  Apple will replace a defective device.
"And is the next one I get going to have the same problem?"
There is no way for anyone to know this.  I see no reason to believe that it would have to same issue.  Most have no issues.

  • Good 2nd Monitor for FCX.

    Hi
Im looking to get a new 2nd monitor for my FCX set up.
Currently I have a Cinema 23" as my main and and old Sony Crt ref monitor vis a PCI Blackmagic card.
I want to get a HD monitor.
Ive just tried a Ezio CS230 £600 monitor but had trouble with blacklight bleed on 2 differant screens.
Not sure if this comes with the price range, but it was horrid when working on dark material.
I havent a huge budget and would like the smallest screen size if poss, around 15- 24" max.
I know you need to spend loads for a "proper" colour grading monitor, but there must be something around the £700-£1000 that will have good blacks with out
    all the back lighting.??
I would like to do some basic colour grading. It mainly for DVD and music videos.etc.
    Any advice much apprieciated.

So am I the only person using a second monitor...???????
Are we all saying that I dont need it and that a MAC monitor ( Imac or 27" is good enough >???)

  • Screen is faulty and fuzzy.

Ive had my 4th gen nano for some time and in that time the screen has gone fuzzy a few times as in diagonal serrated lines across the screen making it difficult to see what Im doing. In the past simple manual resets would fix this, then I had to use in itunes restore and one time when that didnt work I accidently hit it on my bookcase and well... the screen cleared up!
Though this time it has happened again and no matter what I do I can not fix the screen.
When I do resets the apple logo comes up perfectly visable but the main menu is obscured so I dont know if this is a screen fault or not.

Many users, reporting the bleeding, have posted here, saying they took the unit back to an Apple store and had it replaced.  Isn't that the kind of thing you'd do if you had a hardware problem?  (If not the store, then contacting Apple directly for instructions on a repair.)  Of course getting a replacement at some locations was a problem due to the short supplies.  YMMV.
While many have had the bleeding problem, it seems most users have none.  So it's not universal.  My wife's new iPad, ordered within the first hour it was available from the web site, came without any problems.  For others there were problems.  I don't see a recall if most iPads don't bleed.

  • Exchanging an LG IPS226v

I'm looking into possibly exchanging my new LG ips226v computer monitor for another unit of the same make and model due to some flashlight or blacklight bleed along the edges. I have a few questions before I decide to do so, one of which is since I had to order it online on 5/20 and had it shipped to store for pickup, will I have to return my monitor to the store and wait while another ships to for the exchange? Another question I have is will the ship time be deducted from the 14 days of return time since the initial purchase? And can I also have the unit opened and tested in store quick to make sure it works well? I want to know incase I happen to get unlucky and have another unit with issues, although if the blacklight bleed is pretty small I won't care.
Additonal Info: The monitor arrived to the store on 5/25 and was picked up the same day. Other than the blacklight bleed I'm actually very satisfied with the monitor as a whole, but as I'm using for playing games and watching movies on it the bleed is pretty noticeable in the black bars if the screen darkens, it's a light green-blue color and almost looks like you can see the edge lighting LEDs. When a bright image is displayed on screen the bleeding almost becomes invisible, but still tints the area greenish, particularly the right bottom corner near the power light and up the right side, and with a very small amount near the left bottom corner but you really have to look to see it.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It is from the date of pickup. You can go to the store and exchange it in store if they have one. If they don't have it you can return it and reorder it.

  • OMG... Broken LCd

Long story short I dropped my laptop PSU onto laptop (psu on bed I was leaning against while on floor with daughter playing a game). When she moved it pulled plug and power brick dropped onto left bottom corner from top of bed.
Has anyone else had to pony up for user caused damage repair on a gt72 yet? Im not looking forward to cost to replace lcd on this brand new machine ;(
I submitted an tech ticket. So if nothing else Ill keep people updated on prices MSI charges for depot repairs.

    Hey Guys,
Yeah so apparently I had a 1 time accidental damage rider on my warranty so they replaced the panel for free, took about 3 weeks door to door... Unfortunately, not looking a gift horse in the mouth, the replacement panel has at least twice the amount of blacklight bleed and banding the original panel had at full brightness. darn shame since the original was pretty good for a laptop.
