Ipad 2, bottom "dock" area of apps is gone?

Hello, my daughter was playing with the ipad, and when I got it back this is what it looks like... see the bottom row where "Mail", "Safari", "Ipod", etc... usually are? I can't figure out how to bring htem back for the life of me. Is there something simple I'm missing? Thanks for any help!

Either your daughter has moved the apps out of the dock (they can be dragged in/out of of it) and onto a different screen, or they are hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions. None of the apps that are in the dock are fixed to the dock, you can move other apps in instead, so you can have your most commonly used apps there so that they are accessible whichever homescreen you're on.

Hi,
As of this weekend my iPad (1st edition) no longer charges / syncs to iTunes / recognizes the memory card reader accessory.
This however, only happens while it is turned on.
If it powers down, and I connect the power cord to it, it'll wake from the dead.
If it powers down with the power cord attached, it'll still charge.
First I tried hard booting it, then resetted the settings only, and now both settings and content.
Tried a wall socket, my MBP, several of my power cables, and the iPad Card Reader.
Because "stuff happens" while it is turned off, I figured it could be a software problem preventing it from functioning properly when turned on.
But having done all of the above, I guess it's more complex than that.
With the exception of the card reader, I connected my iPhone to the same cables, wall sockets and MBP and it worked as expected.
Can you guys help me?
Is my only option taking it to an Apple Store and have it serviced?

I have had all sorts of charging problems, the best thing to do is to take it back to apple. Mine is still not charging as of today.

IOS 8.1 installed yesterday has spoilt my iPad 2! There are no keyboard, message or app sounds, performance is now sluggish, juddery and strange, battery is draining fast and it no longer security locks when put to sleep.

I am not the only iPad owner that has this set of problems so why didn't you warn us Apple! What are you going to do to help us? I do not want to be forced into buying a newer version of iPad because you broke this one!

In spite of the fact that you said you checked the settings, I still believe that you have system sounds muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.

AS for your other issues, have you done any other troubleshooting like resetting your iPad, resetting all settings or doing a complete factory reset?

I mean, why shouldn't those apps show up when I look for them, since they are from 3rd parties and if they must be there, how about an idea of who they are and whate they do. I would expect as the owner to have some sort of explanation of who the 3rd party is, why there apps are apprearing on your ipad without permission, and maybe the ramifications of taking off or at least turning them off. Its not rocket science, people. It really about our rights as pople, right???

I'm new to iPad. I've installed some apps. The apps are "open" even when I go to something else or close that page. I just did some updates on other apps and see those apps are still "open". How do I close them? I'm sure it's draining my battery. Help!

If you are referring to the fact that, in the App Store app, after you have installed or updated an App, that the Install button changes to now read "Open" then this does not mean that the App is Open and running. It means, rather, that, if you touch the button now marked "Open", the App will be started and "Open". It's just a quick way to get to the App you have just installed or updated.

Hi The next thing to do is to Restore back to Factory Settings this will get rid of any bugs . After Restore use same Apple ID /Password then you should get all your Apps & data back If you still have this problem make an Appointment at Apple Store . Cheers Brian

I have the same problem. I updated my mac to 10.5, which then had me update apps like itunes, etc. then it wanted me to sync my purchased music to my ipad before i updated the ipad...which worked ok. then when i was syncing the photos i got the same message when i hit "apply" asking are you sure you want to delete the 12 apps from the ipad - clicked "no" and brought me back to the original screen. Got the same message when trying to move them from the hard drive to the ipad. WHat is going on and how do I correct this? Thanks

Are there Apps to use the iPad in a lab

I work in a research medical lab. Usually I write experiments and data in a lab notebook where I can describe experiments and draw figures by hand and record data. My Question: Are there APPS available for the iPad that would allow me to do this with my data/experiment written documentation????

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Authorize the computer in iTunes -- Store>Authorizie this computer. Transfer the purchases from the iPad into iTunes and then you can sync with iTunes. Read this for instructions on transferring purchases from the iPad into iTunes.

I have updated my apps on my desktop and then I am syncing my Ipad. I just transferred everything to a new desktop and now my update to my games, etc. Are not coming across to my Ipad like they used to. I am not receiving an error message. I can transfer my new purchases to my desktop, but it isn't going the other way.

If you want both iPad to be identical .....
Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
Now connect your iPad to your Mac and start iTunes.
When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases.
After it finishes transferring all your apps to the Mac, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
Sync the iPad and eject it when it is complete.
Quit iTunes
Connect the second iPad.
Launch iTunes
Right click on the iPad name on the left side and select - Restore from Backup
Select the backup of the first iPad and let it restore from that backup.
When it finishes restoring - sync with iTunes to transfer all of the apps and any other content that you want onto that iPad
Eject the iPad when you are done.
Check the second iPad and if all of the content did not sync as you wanted - or you want to remove some of the content - connect it again and then choose the content that you want - uncheck what you do not want - and click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.

Quick update, the duplicate of the comic-con episode downloaded succesfully, and so has the first episode of Supernatural season 8. Blue dots appear to their left in the library.
All the Vampire Diaries episodes (except the bonus comic-con double) have vanished, but I paid for them !
They're not anywhere on my harddrive either.
Which is new by the way, this is a new MacbookPro, literally set it up today.
So it would seem this is a case of purchased and pseudo-downloaded episodes that ended up beinge gobbled up by some iTunes black hole, leaving me with no money, and no episodes.
Need help, confirmed.
