IPad 2 cannot sync with Windows 7 machine but can sync with Mac Book Pro

I connected the iPad to my Windows 7 machine straight out of the box and tried to register it for the first time. It showed up in the device list for the first 3 minutes and then disappeared altogether. Thinking this is just some small error, I started troubleshooting using this guide http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/itunes/

after doing that 4-5 times, I still had not found a solution to the problem. I made sure that my computer had the Apple Mobile Device Drivers installed in it. After all my iPod can easily connect to iTunes, but not the iPad. There isn't a problem with the usb cable because I used the same cable on the iPod and it worked like a charm. The iPad gets recognized in the Device Manager as an Apple Product, but does not show up in iTunes at all. This problem has frustrated me quite alot. I also tried to use my friend's Windows 7 machine, but to no avail. It did not connect to his computer either. Finally as a last resort, I tried to connect it to a another friend's Mac Book Pro [iOS Snow Leopard], and like clockwork, it connected and showed up in his iTunes. This is what surprised and outraged me the most. After spending 5-6 hrs troubleshooting the connections on my Windows 7 machine, uninstalling and reinstalling applications, drivers and finally the OS itself, this iPad connects seemlessly to a Mac Book within 1 minute. I could synchronize data, songs and the like on the Mac Book, but I can't even get this iPad to show itself on a Windows 7 machine. I am truly at my wit's end with this problem. Could anyone please help me with it? I would surely be grateful.

Here is my statdard reply, most of which you have already done. You may wish to try the others!
Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.

    First, make sure that all your devices are using the same Apple ID in iMessages including your Mac.  Second, your messages that you've already started on your devices will not show up on your Mac - only ones that you start from now on will show up.  Third, if you're still not syncing accross all devices, make sure you read the directions on the first page of this thread.  It should work after performing those steps.  Good luck!

    Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.

    Actually, you can - but it is special order only - they consider it as a customized unit....You might have to wait a week or two.....
    You can check the Apple Store at the Mall of the Emirates and see if they have it in stock....
    Or, you can go to Apple's website select UAE as the country and configure it with the US keyboard and wait for delivery...

    In my own opinion it didn't work well enough and I don't use it, I have fairly high standards when it comes to stuff like this. But from what I can gather it seems like it's the best of the rest! many here have said they like it.

    Entourage is a third party app so stop down to the Microsoft support forums. In any case I would suspect in its preferences there would be a selection as to when (parameters) incoming mail should be deleted from the server.

    Depends. There were two version of the MBP that shipped in 2006 with different max RAM. The quickest way to see which is yours is to use System Profiler to get your Mac's "Model Identifier."
    Do "About this Mac" from the Apple menu and, in the resulting window, click "More Info..." That launches System Profler for you.
    The answer is in the first screen of Profiler that comes up--"Hardware Overview." Note the second line in this example:
    If the Model Identifier says "MacBookPro1,X" you are limited to 2G RAM. Period.
    If the Model Identifier says "MacBookPro2,X" you can install two, 2G modules for an installed total of 4G RAM, but the logic board can only access 3.2G of it. That becomes your "max RAM.

    This Time Machine software worked satisfactory until Monday Nov, 10 2014 and I have backups until that time. For several years, the software deleted the oldest back up to save the latest one. This is acceptable to me as I have off site storage that is updated every 3 months. How do I get Time machine working again?

    I have spent a couple of days trying to respond to Linc Davis. Finally I figured it out . The following is a copy of data from my console from the initiation of a time machine backup until it gets stuck trying to calculate the time remaining. There is no indication that anything starts saving.  I copied about 3 minutes of data. This is probably way too much data, but I do not know what is relevant.

    I see that the Mac Book Pro is picking up the internet when I check the internet preference section but it will not open Safari.

    You need to power off the modem for 15-30 seconds, then power back up and then connect. The modem is remembering the last connection (your friend).

    Is itunes match turned on? If so, try holding shift key whilst turning off match.
    Now turn match back on, signing in with the apple ID that you used to set up match. You will be asked to add this computer, do so. Once process complete you should see all the music you have in cloud.

    To do what?  It's not clear from the question.
    If you want to play iTunes library content on the unit you need to enable Home Sharing on both, have them on the same network and then look for your iTunes library under the Computer icon - iTunes must be running of course.
    Communications can be blocked by firewalls or security software sometimes.
    To factory restore a black AppleTv2 or 3 you connect it to the computer running itunes with a USB to microUSB lead alone and start itunes.

    Microsoft Security Essentials is free and decent, don't beg you for cash.
    Just keep Windows updated and don't use it online for anything except for updates if you can all help it.
    Use OS X to go online and grab files, clean them using the free ClamXav before passing them onto the Windows side.
    When you first setup Windows and have it updated, use the free WinClone to copy the Bootcamp partition to a external drive for safekeepiing.
