IPad 2 case for student use?

Hi!
I'm going to buy an iPad 2 for use in medical school. To protect it I need a case.
I have read alot online, but it seems that there really isn't that many suggestions for students specifically.
Criteria:
1. Protect: protecting the back, sides, corners and screen as much as possible without adding to much bulk.
2. Sleep/wake feature: support the magnetic sleep/wake feature of the iPad 2.
3. Typing: have a nice and stable typing stance. I will not be using an external keyboard, but rather do all of the typing straight on the iPad 2.
I hope someone can help me out.

If compactness is important, and you are comfortable with the on screen keyboard, then you probably want to avoid the cases with built in bluetooth keyboards. They will add size and wieght (to a dgree) and certainly cost.Beyond that, you will have to make some decisions about what you need the case to do.
For example, when I picked up the case I am currently using for my new iPad, I wanted low cost (I'm rough on them so will need to replace at some point), decent padding to protect from bumps and such, and to be able to easily get it out of the case since I like using the ipad without a case when I feel it is safe. The smart cover feature was not a concern since i find that peice of functionality to be a waste of time. I ended up with a Rocket Fish. Simple design, meets my needs and i don't have much invested, so easy enough to replace if I run accross something a lot better. (also, this was early on and there weren't a lot of cases in the stores yet). Obviously, from the information provided, that case wouldn't be to your liking.
If you have the ability to, go and actually look at and hold some cases. very often that tells you more about how well the case would work than reccomendations and reveiws. and make sure you are clear on what you need the case to do.
For out and out protection, however, you probably can't do much better than Otterbox. My company has deployed iPads on construction sites and chose the Otterbox Defender as the REQUIRED case for all iPad orders.

Or are you looking for a particular app ? Some developers allow you to download older compatible versions of their apps : Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X.

HT1495 I work at a school. I have setup up Ipads for student use. I do not want them to have password because in the past, they have added emails to the account. I want them to be able to create an itune account on ipad so they can download free apps

I need student to be able to download free apps on ipad without compromising the account that I have created. In the past students added usernames and emails to the account when they forgot the password. I do not want them to have password so I need them to creat their own accounts to use besides the school account created. Can this be done on ipad?

I recommend you try to adjust to 29 and see if you can't make it work for you before you downgrade to a less secure and soon outdated version of Firefox.

Best iPad case for hospital/ER use?

Hi all,
I'm an ER doc and our department just received new iPads as we move into the electronic medical records age.
I need a strong yet practical (lightweight) iPad case.
We will carry it from patient room to room and use it for documenting histories and charts.
I've read other threads about practical sanitation of iPads but that's not that big of deal since I'd rather just take it out of the case to clean it or just wipe the whole thing in its entirety with our sanitation wipes.
I'm mainly looking for something that can protect against drops, spills/blood/fluids but not weigh like a brick.
Our documentation program is also compatible with a stylus.
Are the hard screen protectors on most cases OK for stylus use in terms of accuracy and details?
Any input and reviews would be greatly appreciated.

My company Alphyn Industries just developed a scrub that holds your iPad for you on your chest with our LEDGE system. It frees both your hands and the iPad is suspended perpendicular to your chest when needed.
To put the iPad away, the pocket flap is simply zipped up. We have not launched is commercially yet, and we are looking for doctors who want to work with us and help us make it mainstream.
We aree also working on a disposable film pack to keep the screen sanitary in the OR.

Macbook air or iPad air for mobile use with iMac at home

Ok i have a 2012 21 imac and i love this machine. I also have a 2013 13 macbook air for mobil use at work and in class. I am considering though selling the Macbook air and strictly getting an iPad air for my mobile computing needs. I already always use iCloud for all my doc and i don't do anything beyond taking notes for class, web browsing, email, iMessage and occasionally remote desktop support support for things at work on my macbook air. I believe an iPad air could fill all those needs and with something like the clam case pro for the iPad air when it comes out would be perfect for my desire to always type on a real keyboard instead of a virtual one. but I'm still a little unsure. Ive had a laptop and a desktop since 2005 so I'm a little apprehensive to ditch the laptop in favor of a tablet.
What are everyones thoughts and advice?

Personally, the iPad is NOT a very good laptop replacement and you are getting a much more limited mobile OS.
If you already have a MacBook Air, it is a more capable mobile device and has the instant on capability as an iPad.
With your MacBook Air, you get the full OS X operating experience, also.
Plus, iPads do not have a bulit-in keyboard and trackpad and doesn't have all of the ports and connections your MacBook Air has.
Plus, your MacBook Air has a bigger screen, more RAM and more hard drive storage than an iPad.
An iPad is a downgrade from your MacBook Air.
Why would you even consider a downgrade to an iPad from a much more capable MacBook Air.
Stick with your MacBook Air. It is head and shoulders much better mobile Apple device than iPad.

What is best iPad case for new iPad?

I have a cover that works the on/off but have tried a cygnet cover that doesn't activate the on/off. I need more protection for travel and wanted a case instead.

A case is a very personal choice, and there are many to choose from.

Lifeproof iPad case for iPad air

Not sure about what lifeproof is up to but have you checked MacCase? They have been around forever and do both high and low end cases for the iPad. I have their Premium Leather Folio for the iPad Air and it's probably the best iPad Air case out there. My girlfriend has a super expensive fashon brand case that cost like $1000 and it's not made as well as my MacCase Folio. Worth a look -

Our CEO plans iPads for enterprise use - our critical assumption is: How can we do online support like using teamviewer?
Teamviewer works just the other way round.

If being to RC the devices is a requirement, then you won't currently be able to use iOS devices. On the other hand based on past experience with Windows based devices, I'm not sure the plus of RC capability is worth the possible negatives that have plagued Windows based devices in the past. I'd do some serious suitabilitly testing before I went forward in a major way. The bottom line is general supportability by IT and usability by end users. RC, while nice, in my mind and at our organization isn't a requirement. Your CEO may feel differently.

I have an iPad 4 with invisibleshield (maximum coverage) and I would like to get a LifeProof iPad case for it.

Will I have to remove the invisiblesheild to use the lifeproof case? I have noticed there WAS a different invisibleshield for lifeproof, but it is no longer available.
Has anyone else tried an Ipad 4 covered in invisiblesheild and a lifeproof case?

You cannot reinstall it be issue you cannot delete it, it is on the iPad somewhere. Swipe down from the middle of the home screen to bring up the search feature at the top of the screen. Type in Photos app and see where it shows up.
Swipe from screen to screen to look for it.
Check. Settings>General>Restrictions. There could be something in there restrictions the app.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

IPhone case for outdoor use?

Hi all-
I have an iPhone 3GS and I use it quite a bit for geocaching in all weather, in all conditions. I'm looking for a case that would protect it from the elements like snow and rain, dirt, etc., and preferably be able to be used with gloves on. This last request is not a deal-breaker, just a really-nice-to-have. I don't need it to be absolutely waterproof (I'm not going scuba diving with it, after all), but I'd definitely like to be able to take it out in a rain or snow storm without fear that it's going to be ruined.

The Otterbox Defender is an awesome case - its not completely waterproof but highly water resistant, as well as incredibly shock proof. I'm an avid camper/kayaker/mountain biker, and my iphone stays safe in this case. (Note: it's not waterproof, so I still use a dry bag or pelican box when kayaking.)

For drop protection, you aren't going to get much better than the Otter, but yes it will add some bulk to the iPad (really any high level drop protection case will). That isn't to say other cases will not offer some protection against dropping, but not as effective. The Apple Smart cover offers no back protection at all, and the Smart Case only minimal.
Not sure what you mean by "360 degree viewing angle" or why it would matter. Any case offering a portrait and a landscape orientation should work. (also not so sure how effective at recording lectures the iPad would be). There are literally hundreds of polio type cases available. Most will offer a number of angles in landscape mode, but fewer for portrait mode.
Even some fairly inexpensive folio cases offer the smart cover function.
I would recommend a trip to a full service electronics store such as Best Buy and have a look yourself. Really the only way you will be able to make a decision.

How do I download a 250mb video from Dropbox to iPad? For offline use.

I have uploaded a large video I need to show someone, offline. It's on Dropbox, but I don't see a means to download it, not like I can with the photos.
Also - how do I download multiple photos from dropbox, as when i select lots, there is no option to move/download.

If the video is in Dropbox, simply 'Favorite' the video from within the Dropbox app. Doing so kicks off a download to the iPad in the background. To check the status of the download, click on 'Favorites' and it will show you the downloaded thus far. Once it's complete, yu can play the video from within Dropbox even when offline.
As for photos, not sure there is a way to do that directly from the Dropbox app.

IPad case recommendation for UK

I am looking for an iPad case for a xmas pressie and was looking at a dodo, portenzo style etc, but was wondering if anybody has anything similar in the UK? The shipping costs are so high to get these from the states.

Has anybody got one of these or heard anything about them? I can't find much on the Internet but they seem to sell on Etsy too and have good feedback. Works out quite a bit cheaper when you take shipping into account, but want to make the right decision!

How do I stop my iPhone 5s safari from syncing with my iPad Air which is for company use only

I basically have been given an iPad Air for company use only so therefore cannot have anything from my personal iphone syncing with my ipad. Stupidly I signed in with the one Apple ID account. I've turned on private browsing and turned off my iCloud and I've also turned auto syncing off in iTunes. Will this do the trick? And if I turn it in again will my history be synced? Thanks.

Hi,
The answer is to delete everything off your iPad and set it up again as a new device with a new Apple ID.
If you go to Settings>iCloud and choose Delete Account, this will get rid of your Apple ID on the iPad.
Then you need to go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings.
Once that's done, set up the iPad as a new device, and create a new Apple ID when doing so.
