IPad 2 crash/freeze

Was watching a movie (fully charged battery) then screen goes black. Apple logo shows up and just sits there.
Difficult to restart. Any one with similar problem?
Using 4.3.3 but it also happened with 4.3.2

I did all...
the real problem is that the new ios5 insabile is and should be updated soon
crashes even when I want to see open applications ..
although for the moment the problem is rarely..
but for its price too much should not have these defects ..
however, if it continues so I bring in assistance..
if ipad 2 still stuck with 62 gb available when it is much less data load .. I hope I'm wrong ...:-/

  • IPad connects/syncs to iTunes for a few minutes then iPad crashes

Sync-ing my iPad has been a problem for awhile and has reached a critical point where my iPad has lots of music/video/apps and it takes longer and longer for it to backup and sync it to iTunes.
My iPad only stays connected for 5-6 minutes before I get a series of beeps from it, the spinning gear spins for about a minute, then freezes.
At which point it no longer wants to sync with iTunes. I have to unplug the USB cable and restart the iPad. It's a 16 GB model and have about 7 GBs left of storage.
Sometimes it will stay sync'd/connected up to iTunes longer before the iPad freezes, I can usually get stuff onto my iPad quickly enough to avoid the crash, but inevitably, my iPad will freeze.
I suspect a corrupt iPhone OS and/or App on my iPad.
Is there a way to install a fresh version of iPhone OS without losing any of my paid music, videos, books and apps?
In other words re-install a fresh version of the iPhone OS and not restore from any of my backups.
My iPod Touch exhibits the same problem/issues, also.
I am on a G4 MDD running OS X 10.5.8 with latest version of iTunes.
Any ideas on how I can fix this issue are welcome.
    Thanks to everyone in advance.

    Hiya,
I'm having the same problem and it's now doing the same with my iphone as well!
i set both up as new but i still have the same issue.
I'm on a laptop (Dell) running vista. I have re-installed itunes and update vista but still no progress
Did you manage to get your issue resolved?

  • HT4061 ipad crashes when sync with itunes

hi there my ipad crashes everytime i sync to itunes.

I am also having the same problems. My Itunes never really freezes, it just continually shows that it is syncing with my 160Gb Classic, but only loads about 10 songs (out of my 10,000 song library) each time. I have reset, restored, reinstalled numerous times and have tried every fix in every blog that I can find. I haven't yet tried the outlook fix mentioned here. If that doesn't work, I'm out of options. I even tried syncing with Winamp and had problems there as well. GGGrrrrr!!!!

  • New iPad crashing when apps moved around screen?

When I move apps around screens on 3rd gen ipad it crashes and goes back to startup screen with apple in center. Please help

    Hi,
I have the same problem here. My experience is:
    1. iPad 2 (3G 64GB) is turned on
    2. Everything works, Spotify, other apps, etc.
    3. Put my headset (in-ear + mic) into the iPad. The headset is Monster Powerbeats, in-ear.
    4. iPad freezes
    5. If I take out the headset, it stops to freeze.
    6. If I put in e.g. Koss headphones (without mic), the iPad does not freeze. Neither does it with a Sennheizer in-ear headset with mic.
    7. Tried to do a hard reset (holding down power button and home button).
    7.1. iPad restarts
7.2. Apple symbol comes up, wheel spinning endless. Restarts by itself, and 7.2. starts over by it self.
7.3. If I take out the headset (Monster Powerbeats), iPad immediately starts as normal.
    8. The Monster Powerbeats in-ear with mic work on my iPhone 4 without crashing / freezing........!?
To sum up: For me this seems to be headset specific. Even though the Monster Beats work with my iPhone 4, they doesn't work without a hazzle. Several times I find the buttons on the mic to not work, despite sound comming out from the in-ear plugs. I also some times have to take them in and out of the iPhone 4 to get them to work with the iPhone. Volume control seldom works though on my Monster Powerbeats anymore.
Seems like the iPad is extremly sensitive to headsets that are not 100% prestine.
Hope this helps some, but not the least Apple to do their part of the job making this work to the extent it is possible, despite the headset manufacturers not doing theirs making mure rugged headsets. Seemingly the iPhone 4 is accepting bigger "errors" than the iPad 2 at least.

  • IPad crashing during Sync

My iPad has been crashing a lot lately while syncing. It's an iPad 3 running 7.1.1 - been crashing since 7.0 I think. Happens everytime I have a large app (over 200MB) or during movies. Nearly every time. It will do a restart and end sync process. If I'm transferring a movie when it happens the movie will show up in videos but won't be able to play. Apps seem to be stalled in update mode where they can't be opened. I'm on a completely updated Mac Mini, current iTunes version and everything. Anybody else having this issue? Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

I'm running into the very same problem on my 16GB 3G iPad. Almost every time I play video in Safari, not only does the app freeze, but it takes down the entire device. A hard shutdown is the only way to get it back up and running.
If your iPad is freezing while playing video (becomes unresponsive and requires a hard reset) then it quite likely has a H/W problem and needs to be replaced. There will be no S/W fix for this. If you check some of the other threads on this topic you will see that several posters have already done this.
Note that a freeze is distinct from simple network or server problems which cause a video to pause. Nor is a freeze the same as a App crash, e.g., Netflix exits to home page. A freeze locks up the iPad and may also be accompanied by artifacts in the video display.

  • IPad crashes regularly

After updating OS, iPad crashes regularly. What can I do?

If your iPhone, iPod or iPad, or even just an app, is freezing or crashing regularly, you may review your crash logs to diagnose any reportable issues. Crash logs contain information about what the iPad and its apps were doing just prior to crashing.
To find a crash log file, sync your iPhone, iPod or iPad first, then locate the appropriate log files using the path for your OS shown below. An app's log file’s name should start with the app’s name, for example.
    Mac OS X
    ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<your iDevice’s name>/
    Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter\<your iDevice’s name>\
    Windows Vista
    C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\<your iDevice’s name>\
Usually, an iDevice user chooses to allow the reporting of crashes to Apple, Inc. automatically, this being a choice when initially setting up your device. Each time a sync is made, the crash logs get reported. So, Apple has a pretty good idea who's chashing when and where, even why, already. If they acknowledged every crash of an iDevice individually, each and every email to you would have to be redundant to what you've just experienced for yourself. Rest assured, Apple learns a lot from the gross collection of crash reports.
I've just taken a look at my orginal iPad's crash log which shows some 1,500 files, with at least 1,000 of the crashes related to the iPad's low memory. I sense that your review of your own iPad crash reports would pretty much mirror mine.
This is a dilemma, for sure. First, the iPad is really just an original proof-of-concept device. It has been designed with many factors in mind, one being product segmentation. Apple doesn't want the iPad to cannibalize the MacBooks too quickly so there must be some limitations built into the iPad to prevent unwanted occurrences. After all, the MacBooks make up 75% of Apple's business these days. Balancing the MacBooks and the iPads amounts to a dangerous business and the consequences of wrong decisions can become catastrophic.
The amount of memory in the iPad is obviously limited, purposely. The Daily Newspaper demonstrated this fact early on. Today, Apple is pushing greater resolutions requiring bigger files for HD stuff and app developers are assuming, probably, that they can eventually force Apple to increase memory sizes in the iPads. We users expect the Pulse app, for example, to function without flaws but, of course, this app interacts directly with the internet where sites have files in sizes the iPad cannot easily handle. It's a programmer's nightmare, balancing memory requirements.
Apple's competitors know all about these common crashes, too. Watch the tablets appear with greater amounts of memory offered, if only to make a manufacturer's products look technically superior to Apple's. However, Apple is famous for saying "NO!" to a lot of technology for sound reasons. But, future iPads are likely to include increased memory which means that our original iPads will quickly become out-of-date since content providers seem to be assuming that the iPad will someday replace the notebook computer.
Apple may not have anticipated the early enterprise adoption of the iPad but that adoption is becoming rampant and the demand to stop all this crashing will grow more loud quickly. Apple knows all about this issue and we might only wait for both software and hardware improvements. Content providers may hold the most immediate solution, though, by showing more discipline with their creations.

  • HT1665 There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view or while using Blogsy App. Why? Why my IPad crashes so often?

There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view or while using Blogsy App. Why? Why my IPad crashes so often?

I have always found spell check to be "buggy" in every version of all of the iOS's that I have run on my original model iPad and my new iPad - especially when replying and typing posts in these forums. It works perfectly in every other application on my iPad but it has never worked perfectly in any web browser that I have used on my iPad - no matter what I have done to try to correct it. That is what MY experience has been with spell check on my iPads.
As for the crashes on your iPad try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

My old 17" MBP (2005) often crashes, freezes or shows grey screen at start up. Also track pad often does not work. I have re fomatted the HD and reinstalled system but to no avail. Genius bar says possible faulty HD, but I suspect logic board. All checks out OK on the Apple Diagnostic bench. Can a Logic board go intermittant?? Any Ideas any body??

Ive repaired 1000s of laptops over the years (translate: diagnose and replace parts).
Its not that old, Ive owned 100s of laptops (most were free) ....some I still have are nearly 13 years old and still perfect, ....some extremely expensive ones died in under a year.
other than becoming obsolete at some point, there isnt really any "will spoil on" data like Milk for solid state computer parts, ....alas.
You can have a $5000 laptop die in 4 months, and a junker one keep kicking after 10 years.... Ive seen that firsthand countless times.
Common logic dictates that "very expensive = long life" in computers,..... but all the repair people will tell you just the opposite.
I know you have a gripe, I get that all too well honestly .

  • IPad crashed w/ iTunes logo, Apple store restore it, now I can't get my app

I'm pretty new in Apple world, iPad is pretty much my very first Apple product. I love it but this problem been driving me nuts in the last couple days.
My ipad crashed last week, the one w/ the plugged into itunes logo. I had to bring to Apple store to figure out whats wrong and they offered me to restore it, alright fine...it's restored within 10 minutes. before I left the store, I asked them again will I get all my apps back from iTunes ?? and they said +"yes, as long as you download from itunes, you can re-download it again from itunes+".
So here I am, been trying to re-download all my Apps back since couple days ago, I plugged into iTunes and can't figure out at all !! I read this support : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1391 but I didn't see any "purchased" in my iTunes 10.2.0.34.

thank you nick101 for your reply. seems like that's the only way, yes ? i wish there is a better way to re-download the whole apps by a click, instead of search it one by one, unless I miss something here ? Anyway ive been downloading all the apps one by one, hopefully it will be done soon. thanks again nick101 !!
There's no easier way just using iTunes, which is annoying; you can make it easier by regularly syncing the iPad to your desktop and taking backups of the desktop.

Have you tried to reset it? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds and see if you can get it to reboot.

    Option 1
Try force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 very closely.

Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • My ipad is freezing up because it needs an icloud update. it says that tI need to have teh ipad plugged in, l,, lockerd and connected to wifi but I caocked and connected to wifi. I cannot connect to wifi because the ipad is frozen. How can I un freeze it?

My ipad is freezing up because it needs an icloud update. It says that I need to have it plugged in to wifi. I can't connect to wifi because it's frozen. What should I do?

If you have the 'this iPad hasn't been backed up' message then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Why does iPad crash so often?

In the middle of playing games or checking Facebook, my iPad crashes and goes back to home page.  It does the same thing when I try to share pictures on Facebook.  I went to the Apple store today and they helped me backup everything and then completely reset my iPad.  The crashes are still happening.  Does this mean I need a new iPad??  I don't know what else to do.

Do you have an iPad 1? If you have a newer iPad you need to update to iOS 7.1.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Ipad keeps freezing .... Even after hard reset . . . Reset back to factory . . Etc.    is it dead?

Ipad keep freezing up ?? Even after all the resets . .  Etc.  am I toast ?

"so I did a hard reset, tried to restore it. But not I cannot not even open my iPad"
Just to reiterate what Tedfixit said - I would book an appointment at the Genius Bar as well. If you restored it and it is still acting up, the device should be evaluated.
