IPad 2 Dead

I am facing a problem, my batt was low at 4%. I didn't use the iPad for some days and then when i kept it to charge it would just go on and off. It kept showing the apple icon. When it came on while being connected to the charger, it showed 85% charged. The moment I removed the charger the ipad went off, completely. As if the battery never charged at all. It just won't come on. I tried connecting it to the charger again, then it powered up, but the moment i switched off the adapter it went completely off again. when connected to the carger it comes on and then after 4-5 mins restarts again. I have tried the Home and Sleep button method to reset the Ipad, but no use. when i connect to my computer, it just shows the apple logo and then the dead red batt icon and keeps repeating the same thing again and again. Can someone HELP!!! The Ipad is out of warranty. If at all i can only replace it at a cost

Tried this, it comes on, but just keeps restarting after approx 3-4 mins. Also the moment I put the switch off it goes completely off! Is there anyone who has also faced this issue. Is the battery dead or is it a software issue. It's not even been 2 years for the piece so wonder how it could be a battery problem.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

    Battery not charging:
    1. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo
    2. Try another wall socket
    3. Try another cable (make sure it's an original Apple cable)
    4. Try another charger (make sure it's an original Apple charger)
    5. Clean Lightning port with compress air or new paint brush

  • I got a damaged iphone today :( after apple sent me an ipad with dead pixel

    Great,
first apple sent me an ipad with dead pixel and misbehaving display and now they are sending me this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/schipplock/4880028188/sizes/l/in/photostream/
    Would you send it back?
Dear god, give me any reason why I ever should consider buying apple hardware again if quality management is so bad...I mean I spotted it in two or perhaps three seconds after unboxing it.
What makes me angry now is that this microsim card now doesn't fit into my old phone so when Apple wants to send me another iphone it takes ages (again!)...and I'm without a phone...great :!
    Apple oh Apple :/.

I don't know if you can do it at an Apple store. But AT&T will let you order the iPhone 4 and still keep what you have until the new phone arrives.

  • Went to show off iPad today - iPad was dead.

Today, I thought I would take the iPad 2 into my local violin shop to show my friends there how cool the Smule violin app is on the iPad, there is even a video online with a quartet of string players playing the iPad 2 with the Smule violin app to play a Bach concerto. Cool stuff.
When I get to the violin shop and try to start the app the iPad was deader than a doornail. After sitting unused for no more than two weeks on a full charge, the charge was entirely gone. So, no bragging rights and not a good day for the iPad 2.
So what is the story on battery life after a full charge? Shouldn't it hold for a few weeks without going down too much? I had the iPad on, it was not turned completely off, just sleeping. How can I avoid this in the future. I think there will be plenty of times where I won't want to use the iPad for days or even a few weeks. What is the recommended way to keep it fresh and not drained?
    TIA,
    Ken

A few weeks? I don't know that the battery should last that long in sleep mode even with a full charge. I've read on this site that some users claim that the battery should last 30 days on a charge but I can't document it anywhere in Apple's web site. I may be missing it but I've never read that myself. Here is Apple's take on the battery.
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html
If you are going to go a couple of weeks without using it why let the power be on? Shut it off and then restart when you are ready to use it again. A few days is one thing, but a few weeks may be asking too much - IMHO.

  • How can I sync my ipad to a new compuer.  My old computer which was used to sync the ipad is dead

How can I sync my ipad to a new computer.  My old computer which was used to sync the ipad is dead?

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
    That should do it.

  • New ipad is dead

I bought my IPAD in May and it has worked just fine until today.  Now it is dead and won't even come on even when it is plugged in.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

The fact that the iPad is dead ..... Nobody here could verify that for you. If you are asking about the out of warranty replacement cost for the iPad, that information is correct.
Apple offers two service options for iPads that are not eligible for warranty service.
Battery Replacement ServiceIf your iPad requires service only because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, please refer to the Battery Replacement tab on the left.
Out-of-Warranty ServiceIf you own an iPad that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will replace your iPad with an iPad that is new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below.
    iPad model
    Out-of-Warranty Service Fee
    New iPad
    $299
    iPad 2, iPad
    $249
A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if you arrange service online or by calling Apple Technical Support. All fees are in US dollars and are subject to local tax.
Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPad that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service.
Apple reserves the right to determine whether or not your iPad is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service. Replacement iPads have a 90-day limited hardware warranty or assume the remainder of your standard warranty or AppleCare service contract coverage, whichever is longer. Please see the AppleCare+ for iPad and Apple Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.

My original Ipad is dead and won't charge at all. I've tried numerous chargers. How do I know if the iPad is "broke"?

Aside from taking it in to a certified Apple Repair shop, this may be a sign that it is dead.  Or there could some kind of damage to the connectors on the charge port.  I am guessing on that part because I am assuming that the other chargers you have used work for other devices.  It may be time to look into buying a new one if it is dead.

Hi, I was backing up my iPad 2 and it gave me an error message. Since then, my iPad has been dead or should I say, STUCK. The screen shows the iTunes image with an image of a USB cable under it with an arrow pointing towards the iTunes icon. I haven't been able to get it to unfreeze and when I connect it to iTunes, iTunes doesn't give me the option to Sync or Restore. It actually just goes into the iTunes Store section and I can't access the part I need. Please help! Thank You!!!!!

You may need to put the iPad in recovery mode to restore it.

  • Never opened iPad with dead pixels

I got a iPad 3 the day it came out from best buy. I wasn't unboxed for about a month after being purchased and when I turned it on, there were more than 3 dead pixels. Also one of the led backlights are blue when they should be white.  Is this a manufacturing issue?  Can I go to the genius bar and get a free replacement even though I never bought a warranty and purchased it outside of Canada? Please reply. I need help.

Is this a manufacturing issue? Maybe. Can I go to the genius bar
    Yes.
    and get a free replacement
If it is determined to be a warranty issue, yes.

  • My ipad is dead after downloading update

An update request appeared on my ipad so I said to download it. It took quite a while.  Then when I checked later the ipad was completely dead. I checked for battery by plugging it in and nothing. Then I hooked it up to itunes and they said it needed reconfiguration and I did that.  Nothing worked still.

    Hello ,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that you're getting an iTunes update error of 3014 when trying to update your iPad.  If the gs.apple.com line does not exist in your hosts file, then you should continue to the next step of the article, to check your TCP/IP filtering and security software running on the computer.  You should be able to update to iOS 8.2 OTA (Over the Air) however.  To update Over the Air, connect your iPad to a Wi-Fi network and follow the directions below.
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" - Apple Support
    Update your device wirelessly
The easiest way to update your device is wirelessly, also called “over the air.” Here’s how:
Plug in your device to a power source.
Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Tap Download and Install. Updates might download automatically while your device is connected to Wi-Fi and a power source.
Tap Install, or tap Later to install the update later. If you use a passcode, you'll need to enter it before installing the update.
Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
    Take care,
    Alex H.
