IPad 2 HDMI A/V adapter; what can it do?

To everyone who is using the adapter "successfully" - I have the iPad 1 - just bought the TV adapter and an HDMI cable - my question - Everything works fine - youtube videos, all my music, even video off the internet. BUT - in Photos. I can only see my slideshows NOT individual photos. What am I NOT doing :-)

The users guide only discusses using TV out on the iPad for sideshows, not individual photos.

You can only sync an ipad to one computer at a time.
You can look to something like dropbox, upload your photos there, then do the sync and since your photos are backed up it won't hurt if they are deleted.

I really don't know what else to try except for restoring the iPad - or letting the battery totally drain, recharge the iPad and then see if it will work.
The problem with letting the battery drain is I would be afraid that you would not be able to turn the iPad on. However, usually when you recharge the iPad, it turns on again by itself.
Anyway, in the meantime, until you can get this resolved - you don't have to turn the iPad off for my reason other than to restart for troubleshooting purposes. If the iPad will recharge and if it goes to sleep OK, there is no reason to have to turn it off.
When exactly happens when you try to reboot? Does the red slider at appear at all?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. I have the same problem. I upgraded to iOS7, entered my usual passcode when prompted in setup, and when I tried to access my iPad after installation was finished it denied my passcode. I can't connect to any internet to erase it or anything because the new iOS hasn't yet been configured to a wifi network, so I can't backup from anything either.
When I connect the iPad to iTunes, it tells me that Find My iPad must be disabled on my iPad before backup or restore can continue - and I can't access anything beyond the lock screen of my iPad at all because it refuses to accept my passcode, so I can't get to Find My iPad.

It sounds like you're not able to use iMessage on your iPad. You've tried some good troubleshooting steps, and I'd recommend these additional steps:
Turn off iMessage and FaceTime and restart
Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
Restart your device.
Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.
Still not activated after an hour?
It might take a few minutes to activate iMessage and FaceTime. If you've waited more than an hour, try these steps:
Make sure that your device has the latest version of iOS.
If you're using an iPhone, contact your carrier to make sure that you can receive SMS messages.
