IPad 2 iOS 6.1.3 Random Reboot/Respring

Hi, my iPad 2 running 6.1.3 has been respringing randomly since i updated it from iOS 6.1. It is a respring in the sense that the Apple logo only appears for more or less 5 seconds before I am pushed back to my lockscreen. It has been happening since April 8. I've tried everything-- a restore then set up as new iPad, a restore from back up, and even a restore in Recovery *AND* DFU mode. Nothing. Random resprings still happening. The resprings happen unexpectedly, whether I'm using the Facebook app or just watching videos. Is there anything else I can do? Could this be a hardware issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Note that I bought this iPad refurbished, around April 2012

I am running into the same situation with my refurb iPad2. A couple of days ago it was not as frequent but this morning the reboot/respring happened 5 times before breakfast. No other issues one our other iDevices running the same version of iOS. For a while I thought it was the Nook app since I seemed to be reading in it when the respring occurred however it happened several times this morning without any apps open. Let me know what your results were from any experiments.

  • IPad 2 iOS 6.0.1 keeps rebooting

My Ipad 2 iOS 6.0.1 keeps rebooting by itself every 5-10 minutes. I did try restoring it but even then the problem isn't fixed. Please advise.

    Setup as new
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings.
Do not restore from backup until you have tested it thoroughly.

  • IPad 2 16GB iOS 5.1.1 Randomly reboots???

I just got an ipad 2 16GB, brand new I installed the IOS 5.1.1 right when I opened it up. But ever since I turned it on it is now randomly rebooting itself. For no reason, just crashes and then shows the apple sign? What should I do?

First thing I would try is to do a restart of your own, Hold the home button down and at the same time hold down the power button.  Wait for the screen to go black and the Apple logo to appear and in a few minutes it should restart.
If you have already done this I would do a reload of the OS from iTunes.
If that doesn't work I would take it to Apple and have them do a refresh of the OS or replace it if there is a hardware problem.
    Good luck.

  • IOS 7 Random reboots/respring

I've been seeing an issue recently on both by iPhone 5 and iPad (4) where the device randomly reboots or resprings while I am in the middle of doing something on the device. The screen will go blank and I will see the apple logo and then be able to use the device again. Both devices are running iOS 7. Is anyon else seeing this behavior or have any suggestions?

Happens to me as well, iPhone 5S, set up as new iPhone (no restore from backbup). The device will respring multiple times a day. Although this lasts only few seconds, it's enough to disrupt whatever background task is active (ie recording audio in a meeting). I replaced the iPhone and the problem still persists. My wife's iPhone 5S (manufactured in Oct 2013) and son's iPhone 4S on iOS7 do not apparently have the problem, which makes me think of hardware issues. The usual fix of restoring didn't help. Will take the phone back for diagnostic this weekend and let you know what they find.

  • IOS 7 iPhone 5 random reboot?

My Virgin Mobile iOS 7 iPhone 5 started random reboots a couple days ago. When the screen froze, it would shlow mutiple lines verical and then goes to the apple logo. Sometime it shows the apple logo over and over again. What is the issue?

It could be a hardware issue. Start by backing up the Phone to iTunes or iCloud and then restore the device. After the restore see if you have the same issue. If it is gone then good, if not then see if you are still in warranty and see about getting the faulty device replaced.

  • IPHONE 4 (IOS 7.1) KEEPS RANDOMLY REBOOTING AND CRASHING

OKAY SO I AM COMPLETELY LOST FOR OPTIONS AND I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
I HAVE AN IPHONE 4 THAT RESTARTS ALL THE TIME WHEN IM USING IT, ATLEAST 6-7 TIMES A DAY WITHOUT FAILURE.
I HAVE BEEN TROUBLESHOOTING THIS PROBLEM FOR A WHILE AND HAVE TRIED MANY THINGS BUT STILL HAVE NO LUCK
I HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERY (NOTHING CHANGED)
RESTORED, FACTORY RESET, DOWNGRADED FIRMEWARE (NONE OF THAT SOLVED ANYTHING)
I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NOT A HARDWARE PROBLEM AND THERE MIGHT BE A BUG ON THE IOS 7.1 UPDATE WHICH MAKES THE PHONE CRASH AND REBOOT AS IT PLEASES.
DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THESE PROBLEMS AND IF SO HAVE YOU FOUND ANY WORKING SOLUTIONS? PLEASE HELP
I ALSO CHECKED MY DIAGNOSTICS LOG AND NOTICED THESE TWO ERRORS WERE QUITE FREQUENT IN IT. I HOPE THIS SHEDS SOME LIGHT ON WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE.

Yes...I have the same problem too after upgrading to ios 7.1..I end up buying an android phone yesterday..I am seriously frustated as i cant use my phone for the past couple of week. Everytime I open my camera it crashes...answered call and crashed....open email and crashed...trying to call someone and it crashed...and plenty of other occasion!!...*** iphone????
Things that I have done as below :-
1 - Delete email accounts - someone says that it solved the issue. - FAILED
    2 - Restore the phone - FAILED
3 - Restore and use as new phone - FAILED
    4 - Bought an android - SOLVED !!!!

  • Ipad Air random reboot on ios 8.0.2

I purchased a brand new Ipad Air, and upgraded it to ios 8.0.2. Since then, I am facing random reboots, after seeing a blue screen for a split second. I took it to the service centre, where they clearly said that it is an OS issue. When is the patch for this coming up. Is it really an OS issue?

I Have faced the same issue today. Checked the diagnostic report and found the following error

  • 8.2 update ipad randomly reboots

Since updating my iPad to the latest 8.2 update it randomly reboots.
i Thought it might have been a game, or iMessage since iMessage was very slow to respond but that doesn't seem to be it.
i Stopped playing the games that the iPad would reboot while playing and turned off iMessage.
the iPad stayed on for almost 30 minutes after that and I thought I had it solved, at least until the next update, then it started to randomly reboot again, cycling a reboot 5 or 6 times in a row until I got a kernel panic screen during a reboot sequence.
This really really scared me but after a hard reboot the iPad came back to life.
is anyone else experiencing these random reboots since updating to 8.2?
if you are, or were, have you figured out a solution?

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • Ipad 3 randomly reboots after last update

Last night I updated the IOS to 6.1
    now the Ipad randomly reboots
    Even when it sits idle

Same issue with my iPad 3.  Happened with 6.1.3 and still happens after upgrade to 7.
It's nearly full, perhaps that's contributing to the problem.  Apple doesn't seem to know how to do memory management properly, nor QA, for that matter.
Also, they conveniently forego the troubleshooting tools present on other platforms.  So the only way to get some insight is to bring it to the "Genius".  Problems with that approach are: most often, the "Genius" isn't that bright a bulb and won't find (or won't be willing to spend time to search for) the root cause.  Also, they now require an appointment, and that's a major PITA.  I just don't have the time to deal with them and their ways to disguise shortage of qualified support resources under fancy terms..  My next portable device will be a slate!

  • I just updated my IPad to IOS 501 and now my apps are not opening. I tried the reboot suggestion and that did nothing. So now what can Ido?

I just updated my IPad to IOS 50.1 and now I can not open my apps. When I try to open them the screen flickers and goes back to my regular screen. I tried a reboot and that did not help. Can someone please give me some advice on what will work. Thank you

No - but thanks! I read about the fix here on the discussion site. I'm glad it got your apps working again.
From the Apple kb article about troubleshooting app store issues ....
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Here is the link to the article.

Nope, never jail broke it.  Just randomly started the other day.
Recovery Mode is your last resort per the instructions here.  Also, read this.
If still no joy, make an appointment with the resident "Genius" at the closest Apple Store.

  • IOS 7.1 Random Reboots

So, according to all the reports, iOS 7.1 is meant to fix the white/black screen reboots. Well, HUGE fail. Ever since I upgraded from iOS 6 to iOS 7, I''ve had reboots, including during a couple of phone calls.
Now, with iOS 7.1, they continue. It would happen far too frequently and with very few identifiable common traits to each one. Even my iPad 2 has crashed a few times under 7.1.
I could be on the task screen to close an app and it would crash, or it would stall for 30 seconds, then crash, or I'd open an app and it'd crash. Or it'd just crash when I flipped between home screens. Since I upgraded to iOS 7.1, it has done it about 30 or 40 times.
So, some places on the internet suggested a wipe, iOS reinstall then restore. So, I've been doing that. It rebooted 5 times during the iOS install, then started restoring the images, apps, etc. and rebooted every minute for about 30 minutes, installing 1 or 2 apps at a time, then crash, reboot, another couple of apps, crash, reboot, etc. etc.
I'm still restoring and it's been stable for 20 minutes so far, but I'm not holding my breath.
DEAR APPLE...FIX THIS! PROPERLY! You have effectively made my iPhone 4S unusable 'cos I can't trust it not to reboot when I need it... I was going to upgrade to a 5S and give my 4S to my mother (she currently has my old 3GS) but how can I when it's so unreliably trash.
COME ON, PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF SANITY, FIX IT PROPERLY.

So - the old saying "an Apple a day keeps the doctor away" is now defunct
I never had reboot problems with pre IOS 7.1 releases.
Now?  My Ipad Mini (1st Gen) is completely ruined.  Reboots 100 times day
Here is what i attempted before i go to the Genius Bar next week (to be told "sorry you are out of guarantee = hardware problem = bibi") :-
    Restore from new
    Recover from new
Restore from an old backup (1 year old)
Do all the above within Itunes
Do it all outside of itunes and only on the Ipad itself
No success = Reboots occur as follows:-  ANY TIME OF THE DAY OR IN ANY OPERATION YOU CAN THINK OF - AND I MEAN ANY - Safari, Calendar, Moving apps, Deleting apps, looking at a photo, listening to music, adjusting settings.
Reboots occur even straight after a recovery and just into the initial setup phase = "get started" - bang - reboot...
I was even rebooted typing this comment - so now i am on the laptop
Bye Bye Apple - i am selling all your stuff on the web to the first victim i can find.  I am sure he will have fun going to and from your Stores.
Hello Samsung Galaxy Note 2014 edition.
Sick and tired of being taken for a very costly ride...  Shame on them!
I adored my ipad mini.  I blame hurried programmers who are not bullet-proofing their adjustments within a 100,000 strong circle of testers, BEFORE RELEASE.  T'aint rocket science.
I have one suggestion:-  Why on earth are all these apps that we used STAYING IN MEMORY after a power down power up?  What for?  Double click on the home button straight after a power up and you will see what i mean.  When on earth did you ever see a pc do that (except from startup processes that we can control!) ?
weird stuff - i used to like Apple as a company for their everything works straight out of the box ethic. But now?  hmmmmmmm
PS = All the above happened to my iPhone4 which is now bricked after IOS 7.1 - i threw it in the bin.

  • In order to read a book in iBooks and listen to music in iTunes (multitask) I must reboot ( Ipad 2) iOS 5.1

I am using Ipad 2 iOs 5.1.  Using latest version of iBooks and iTunes.  All apps have been updated and iPad has been synced with MacBook Pro (Lion).
When I try to listen to music and read I have to reboot.  It works for a bit then quits again. I have scoured support and communities but found no information.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

ok... So maybe a little oops but heres what I discovered.
I can listen to music via iTunes and read a book via iBooks at the same time.  I can not listen to a movie or music video while reading a book.  I suspect the iPad2 figures I must want to watch that video or read a book but not do both.  It would be interesting to see if this gets some support during developement because there are some cool concert videos that I would love to listento while I read.
    Thanks
