IPad 2 is acting crazy!

Bought it in July 2012 and over the last month, the screen sensitivity has gradually gotten worse with these problems:
1.  When I type something on the touchscreen keyboard, it will either type too many letters (like 10 of them) after touching it only once & very lightly or won't type a letter I touch at all. On some letters, I can turn it on its side to rotate the keyboard and it will work mostly.
2.  It opens apps when the screen is on but not touching it anywhere...even when I hold it in the palm of my hands. Will also do it if my hand is hovering over the screen.
3. It won't respond to me touching a link, but sometimes when I rotate the screen, it will work (like with typing some letters).
4.  Starts zooming in & out on its own or flipping between pages or apps.
When I turn the screen off and turn it on a minute later, it works better for a couple of minutes then starts doing it again.
I know others have experienced this craziness because I have seen MANY complaints about it when I googled the problem, but I need to know what to do about it.  Is there a fix?  I'm sure it went out of warranty after a year (please correct me if I'm wrong), so now what?  Buy another one because it will probably cost more to fix it than buy a brand new one at this point.  Please help!!!

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY
Hope it helps

  • Ipad 3 acting crazy, doing things on it's own without touchng it.

My friend's ipad 3 with retina display 32GB  is acting crazy. It switches between apps, closes/ opens apps, types, scrols, goes to home/ search and ...... by itself without even touching it. You can't think of using the ipad like this. It happens when you are using the ipad. It lasts from 10 secs to about 1-2 minutes or whatever. If you leave it for a while, it becomes normal ( you can use it) but after a while it starts acting weird again. We already restored it to latest frimware but no luck. Seems like a hardware problem to me. He said it used to become hot in the back while using it and playing heavey games(size of around 1GB). It is out of warranty now.
    Any one having same issues?
Here's a short video clip i caught it acting crazy.

Take it to an Apple Store and ask them to diagnose it, there is nothing else that you can do if you already restored the iOS software, unless you didn't restore as a new device. If you didn't do that, give it a try, if that fails, make an appointment an an Apple Store Genius Bar,

Well it all started with Aperture 3 trying to import some photos from my iphone. It took ages to import those photos and like I was in a hurry to finish my work in Illustrator so I tryied to force quit on A3 and it didn´t, so I shut down the computer and started over.it was all ok but I uninstalled the A3 and the I realized the icons were back to original form and a few fonts changed.so I Installed the trial version of A3.I did a restart of the system and then there was.aperture lauching but no dock and a 80% of the icons disappeared, but the names of the files and folder remained.and I cand acces the apps from the apple sign on the left corner.I tried also restarting a few time but it´s always the same.I am a recent user of a mac , and please excuse my bad english. If this is in any way useful please help me!

  • Macbook pro 2010...cursor is acting crazy jumping everywhere and responding very slow...thought it was the track pad but I plugged in a mouse and it still does the same thing...is this a virus?..and can someone please help?...

My Macbook pro is acting Crazy....the Cursor just keeps on jumping everywhere and not responding when I use the trackpad....Even when it does respond it is very slow...I thought it was the trackpad acting up but realized it wasnt when i plugged in a mouse and it still did the same thing...this happened one other time and shortly after my computer froze...I had to restart for it to work but restarting dosent help this time...can someone please help?...Is this a Virus?

It is not a virus.  See my Mac Virus Guide*.
As to what it might be, that's hard to say.  You should try some basic troubleshooting...  Repair the hard drive with disk utility.  Boot in safe mode and see if it happens then, log in to a different user account and see if it happens there, reboot from another system and see if it happens.
Apparently some people have had this kind of problem caused by swelling batteries that push on the underside of the trackpad and cause all kinds of strange problems.  Is your machine's underside deformed at all?

  • [SOLVED]Mouse and keyboard acting crazy. I have to restart gdm via ssh

Here's the output from dmesg after boot.
    http://pastebay.com/14045
Basically, I'm getting errors from my USB mouse and keyboard.  If I wait long enough udev will find them and they'll start working.  GDM starts too fast so Xorg is stuck without keyboard and mouse.  I had to ssh and restart GDM then mouse and keyboard worked.  For the meantime I've disabled gdm in rc.conf.
I usually see these messages from devices that are drawing too much power from the USB power bus.
These devices work fine in the Win32 and OSX installs on the same hardware.
    thanks ya'll

Well, my media card reader, an internally mounted one, decided to act crazy. Unplugging it from the mobo seemed to fix it.  wonder what happened, it's only 3 months old and has no moving parts

  • Ipad 2 screen going crazy

My iPad 2 is acting like it has a virus or some invisible person has taken over it.  Screen jumps all over, touch screen won't work, but acts like someone is controlling it.  I've done a reset, a restore, taken multiple apps off of it but it keeps happening.  How do I get this to stop?  The iPad is completely unusable when this happens.  At most I get about 3 minutes of regular use before the "ghost" takes over and posseses the device.
Why is this happening and how do I make it stop?  Thanks, Peggy

This definitely isn't any kind of malware, unless your iPad has been jailbroken. If it has been jailbroken (ie, to install apps through Cydia or something similar), anything is possible. It's also not caused by any of your apps, as an app on an iPad cannot cause this kind of system-wide behavior.
As to what it might be, it could be a very dirty screen. I've seen dirty screens cause sporadic touches to be detected. If the screen is dirty, try cleaning it. (Do not use Windex or any other chemicals... at most, use a slightly damp cloth. Be sure no water can be squeezed out of it, as water getting inside would be a very bad thing!)
If the screen isn't dirty, try resetting it.  Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, you can try restoring it to factory defaults using iTunes while it is connected to your computer. Then restore it to a backup.
If even that doesn't help, contact Apple for service. There may be a hardware issues with the iPad.

  • My mail application is acting crazy.

When I try to delete messages it tells me they can not be moved to the trash because an item is there already there
    or it quits unexpectedly.
“37900.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists.

    Exactly.
That is why I say it is acting crazy.
When I attempt to delete from any inbox accross all accounts
it gives the same error code.
Wether I highlight drag and drop, right click delete, or move manually one by one to trash.

Good to know that I am not alone!!
In my case, after I have deleted some messages, in a few minutes, the deleted messages came back and shown as NEW MESSAGES!
This is driving me crazy as I have to repeatedly delete messages again and again and again and ....
Yes, this all happens a couple of weeks ago...
I thought that because I have so many messages in my folders so I deleted some messages but that didn't help.
Apple tech: Pls take a look at this problem. It is very annoying to say the least.

my iphone is acting crazy plz help asap my phone is giving reading me everything i lay my hand on and is not letting me scroll down or select anything i must have accidentally switched some voice thing on plz help me close it:(

First off, try triple clicking the home button.
To scroll use three fingers and I think you have to double tap to get into something.
Go to Settings>General>Accessability>Voiceover and then turn that off.
Hope that sorts it for you

  • TouchPad Acting Crazy

My Lenovo Twist ThinkPad touchpad has been acting crazy recently. When I click anything on the touchpad (right or left) it clicks 3-4 times in a row. For instance, if I click to open a new tab in Internet Explorer, 3 tabs open simultaneously or if I click to open an app it will open it in 3 different windows. It is becoming a pain in the butt. I have tried messing around with the advanced settings under synaptics UltraNav settings but have not been able to fix the issue. I also updated the drivers, which did not help either. Do I need to send my computer in for repair? If anyone has been having this problem as well and found a fix, please fill me in! Thanks
    Chris

    hi akbp,
In addition to what SEAlaa have suggested, have you tried adjust the sensitivity and palm tracking settings by going to the Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse:

  • I got 3 friend request all at once. Just facebook acting crazy. My computor froze. Couldn't move anything. Shut it off. New to computor don't know much. Have an iPad

I got 3 friends request all at one time. When I realized I didn't know the people I deleted them. My computer froze on Facebook.
Am new to computers so don't know much. How do I know if everything is ok?
Everything seems to be ok now. But I want to be sure?

Your question seems to be that you want assurance that your computer is OK but you have posted in the iPad forum. Either that or I have no clue what you are actually asking.
In any event, how can you know of everything is OK? You tell us. Is everything working OK? Nobody here can give you any assurance since we can't see how your computer or your iPad is behaving.

  • Ipad acting crazy, deleting email, or have to delete twice

Ipad 2 starting to do strange things.  Deletes email on it's own, or I have to delete it twice or empty the trash twice.  The timer sometimes goes on forever.  I have restarted, no change.

Oh, you have a very old iOS.  I'm not sure this feature was available in iOS 4, but try Settings > General > Usage (if it exists).  If it does exist, it will tell you what's hogging your iPad's space.
Note you need an absolute minimum of 10% of your iPad's total space free at all times so your iOS can run.
