Who else has a problem with parental controls enabled not being able to run Firefox on the Mac? (Any solutions?) (BTW. Chrome doesn't work either)

Although FF4 is so nice I'm almost ready to ditch iGoogle!
Please fix what appears to be an RSS/iGoogle issue with FF4...
Gmail is fine, but titles dont show in most RSS feed gadgets and no stories, strangely, apart from this one:
    http://www.google.com.au/ig/directory?hl=en&url=www.google.com/ig/modules/builtin_news_technology.xml
Which if you enter the last part of the url reports that
    "<Content type="html">
This is a builtin module, so the UserPrefs and Content are ignored."
    Any ideas?

  • Can someone post a pic of a new iPad with no light bleeding

If you have an iPad with no light bleeding can you post a pic. I don't believe they exist

I have it but not horribly. I have resigned myself to wait until the mad rush for the iPad2 is over and see how they resolve the issue. Reminds me of the iPhone4 camera problem with white balance. Eventually they solved it. At that point I took mine (iPhone) back (several months later)and they still replaced it without questions. I am suspecting they will do the same with the iPads.

  • Who else has faint horizontal lines in their 17" Display? Look closely!

Description: Every other horizontal pixel row appears brighter than the alternate, creating a scan-line style effect that also contributes to the washing out of the display. In seemingly random "luck of the draw" machines, lines can either be highly visible or not be present at all.
In displays where it is faint, you may not notice, but once you become aware of it is a real problem if you work closely with your computer, and graphics.
This appears to be the same issue that has been widely reported in the past with Macbook Air computers.
The three computers that I have had this issue with:
1 - Glossy, 9C99, lines visible even from three feet away.
2 - Glossy, 9C99, lines about half the visibility
3 - Matte, 9CAC, lines again about half the visibility of #1
I have also had 3 glossies and 1 matte that have not had these lines at all. 3 Unibody 15" MBPs have also not had any such lines. I have also been unable to detect these lines on any non-Apple computers I have observed, nor any of Apple's other models or displays.
I put a 17" Matte without the lines next to one with the lines and attempting to take photos, but could not get them to turn out at all for a variety of annoying reasons (unclear image, moire effects, etc). I was however able to take extremely close macro shots and there is a difference visible in the pixel arrangements, apparently.
Who else has this one their display?
    Thanks
Both pictures taken in upper-right corner of screen with standard Leopard desktop picture.
First image is display with no visible lines, second is display with visible lines.

It exists regardless of graphics chip selection or resolution. The machines either seem to have it or they don't. It seems to be something in how they are made. What I see in the close-up photos seems to suggest a variation in the layout of the pixel diodes in the display. I really want to know how many others have this in their display. Maybe there was a small bad run of them over a few months or maybe they are a multitude with this issue.

  • How to see who else has iMessage?

Ok, so if I go to message, and then go into my contact list, how do I actually find out who else in that list has iMessage?  From the look of things, I can only find out once I click on their name to send them a message.  Surely it makes sense to be able to see within the contact list who else actually has it, or I don't know who I can send one to.
    Or am I missing something?

I found that it automatically switches from text to imessage if the contact has that upgrade

  • Don't know who else has this issue but my ipad air is doing random things.  Almost like someone else is running it.  Any ideas how to fix this?

This is driving me crazy.  What can I do?

You would be much better off with a point-and-shoot camera, especially for an occasion like a wedding. The iPad Air only has a 5MP camera.
Make sure you're taking pictures in a well-lit area. You should be able to tap on a face/area on the screen to get the camera to focus. Either of those may help.

  • Ipad air back Light Bleeding Normal

Hey  so I recently got an iPad Air and so far I love it is amazing and since I am a designer it has allowed to show my work very well.  Recently I got some eye surgery and something I have notice that I am far more sensitive to light and can detect sudden things that before I would have just ignore. I was in my dorm watching a movie on Netflix and I started to notice that there was a “glow” in the  left side of the display; I changed to YouTube and even my own videos and that glow  persisted. After some research I came to the conclusions that it was backlight bleeding, though I believe that  it is not as bad as some of the images as I saw on the internet, it is some thing that many IPS LCD LED suffer from. Is my display in the normal a acceptable range or should I get it changed ???
    Thanks

Try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait until your iPad starts on it's own.

  • IPad with Back light Bleeding

I've had my ipad a week and its irritating the crap out of me that when i watch a movie, I can see the bleed from the back light.

  • Who else has been lied to??

Does verizon even remotely understand customer service??  I say NO!!
I have had nothing but problems since changing plans to the everything(should be called nothing) plan.  I was told my bill would be a certain amount.. nope.  Due to a verizon store employee who can't do basic math we are being charged 20% more per line.  To be fair they have they did adjust it down from 30%.  Then they created the account all wrong and made 2 separate accounts.  After having to call the NOT customer service number again I was told they were closing out the 2nd account and waiving the charges on the bill due to the numerous mistakes and the 6 times I have had to call to try and straighten this out.  Didn't ask for that but thought ok seems fair.  Get my next bill... they just moved the charges over to the other account instead.  So now I am paying 20% per month than I was told it would be originally and they want the charges that were supposed to be waived from the messed up 2nd account.  Well of course this requires calling the NOT customer service number again and because the person I spoke with the previous time did not document it correctly then it is just my word and the charges are valid and need to be paid.  I ask for a supervisor and one calls me back to let me know they can offer me a $25 credit on the account which is about 1/2 of what they are trying to charge me.  I asked to speak to her supervisor and was told I could speak to another one on her level but to escalate it above her I would have to send in a request to an address that she would provide me.  I said so now I will have to email some one and try to get this straightened out.. she said yes.  Well she texted me the address and it isn't an email address after all, you can send it to a post office box or a fax number.  So the great technology company is hiding behind snail mail and faxes to handle customer service issues.  She said if this had been properly documented then it would not be an issue so I asked and how am I supposed to ensure that it is properly documented.  Her answer... "You can't"  I asked if she thought that was a fair system and she said "Yes, it is"  I said how when you do all the documenting and I can never see it.  They can tell you what ever they want on the phone and if it isn't typed in the system then it did not happen!!!  You can't even get a copy of what they are entering so they just tell you what ever and then hide behind it isn't in the documentation and the only thing you can do about it is not renew with them.

ok so the verizon store employee cant do basic math, when you did the math in the store what did you come up with?  oh wait you probally didnt do the math yourself and didnt take time to make sure what you are signing for is correct.  Everything you signed would of shown you the numbers, would of shown that a sub account was opened, and you could of asked questions.  So maybe the store worker made a mistake and maybe he was bad at basic math, but you as a consumer also made a mistake and were lazy for not looking at what your signing

  • My iPad 2 has light bleeding problem, service center guy told me it's a known cosmetic problem, can't do exchange...

My iPad 2 has light bleeding problem, I called Technical Support Number (Singapore), they told me to go to an Apple authorized service centre in Singapore. So I travel an hour to there, then they told me to contact Apple online since it's a cosmetic problem, they can't send it for repair or exchange...

    Hi Peter,
There are always issues with the screen on devices. In the case of slight bleeding, one QC engineer might pass the product while another might not, due to color and lighting perception differences between engineers.
Different service centre will have different service levels due to the fact that this IS Singapore...
I suggest going down to QCD.

If it's a Starhub or Singtel set, it's more effective to be exchanging with them since it's not been a week since purchase (I assume).
    Cheers!

  • IPad 2 light bleeding is receding?

I will confirm in the next few days, but, my light leakage is not as severe as yesterday.
Maybe it is connected with the drying of the screen glue.
The next few days will tell, I guess.
    Anybody else?

any sense, technically, with how glue drying would/wouldn't deliver a light bleed?
admittedly am not an expert on LCD technology, but it seems weird to me that less-than-dry glue (meaning more pliable and flexible) would create the light bleed so many have been documenting.
on the two iPad2s that i've had (both returned), the light bleed was localized to a particular spot(s) on the screen edge and reacted differently than the rest of the screen edge when i pressed them directly. in places where there was no light bleed i saw no reaction on the screen when i applied pressure...but when i applied pressure to the areas experiencing light bleed, the bleeding got worse.
again, no LCD expert, but it "looks" like the gasket that surrounds the screen may be pressing on the LCD array in some spots more than it should. if that's the case, then it won't go away with time...and has zero to do with glue drying.

  • Does the iPad 2 still have issues with light bleeding/yellowing?

    Hi,
I placed an order for an iPad 2 back in April but cancelled the order when I heard about initial quality control issues such as light bleeding/yellowing.  However, I am keen to buy a iPad 2.  Could anyone who bought an iPad 2 more recently (say, since mid May) advise whether they too have had these issues?  I can't afford to spend £500+ on a device that doesn't work like it's supposed to.
    Thanks!
    Tony

    Hi there Tony!
All iPads should work as expected, to have a fault with one is usually a random, and rare event. Your iPad will probably be perfect, only a few out of a very large number have defects.
However, if your iPad does not meet your standards when you purchase it, I would take it to the local Apple Store. You receive a 1 year limited warranty, and they will be happy to replace it if any defects occur.
Hope that put your mind at rest.

  • What Apple told me about iPad 2 light bleeding

When I went to the store, the genius told me that the light bleeding will do away over time because of the glue drying. Is this true, did anybody have any luck?

iPad 1's have light leakage. This is not a new issue and is most noticeable when watching a movie in the dark and it's a dark scene. At least I experienced this with my iPad Wifi (which I later returned) and then also my iPad WiFi + 3G (which I ebayed). I can't speak for my iPad 2 because it's still in China probably being assembled. I will say that the light leakage issue was definitely annoying for me and Apple really did not have a solution for the problem. What's really going to be interesting is to see whether the white iPad (which is the model I purchased) has any light leaking through the white border around the screen. We shall see.
