IPad 2 locks up my iPhoto

My iPad 2 locks up my iPhoto '11. Whenever I connect the iPad to my Mac, iPhoto launches, but, just spins and spins.
The iPad shows up in the iPhoto Device list, but, no photos taken from iPad appear on the screen - Just get the spinning spokes. I've let it sit for an hour, just to make sure it wasn't trying to finish something.
I also have to force quit iPhoto to get it to shut down or even look at my photos.
I do not have any problem with my digital camera or my iPhone 4 - only my iPad locks up iPhoto.
Would love suggestions as to why this is happening, and what I can do to correct.
FYI - I have restored my iPad during trouble shooting and also rebuilt my iPhoto database. But, still have the same problem.
Also - running Snow Leopard on a Mac PRO with 2.93 GHz Intel Xeon and 32 GB RAM.
Thanks...

For my problem, I must have had something corrupted. to fix it - I went to general settings - went through restore and clicked the erase all content - then - sync'd my iPad through iTunes as if it were new (didn't use my backup)
Now --- seems to be working - but of course lost the better part of a day rearranging my Apps the way I like them and putting my content back on the iPad.
But - it seems to be working now.
