IPad 2 locks up my iPhoto
My iPad 2 locks up my iPhoto '11. Whenever I connect the iPad to my Mac, iPhoto launches, but, just spins and spins.
The iPad shows up in the iPhoto Device list, but, no photos taken from iPad appear on the screen - Just get the spinning spokes. I've let it sit for an hour, just to make sure it wasn't trying to finish something.
I also have to force quit iPhoto to get it to shut down or even look at my photos.
I do not have any problem with my digital camera or my iPhone 4 - only my iPad locks up iPhoto.
Would love suggestions as to why this is happening, and what I can do to correct.
FYI - I have restored my iPad during trouble shooting and also rebuilt my iPhoto database. But, still have the same problem.
Also - running Snow Leopard on a Mac PRO with 2.93 GHz Intel Xeon and 32 GB RAM.
Thanks...
For my problem, I must have had something corrupted. to fix it - I went to general settings - went through restore and clicked the erase all content - then - sync'd my iPad through iTunes as if it were new (didn't use my backup)
Now --- seems to be working - but of course lost the better part of a day rearranging my Apps the way I like them and putting my content back on the iPad.
But - it seems to be working now.

My iPad is locked and says it needs to be backed up
My iPad is locked and says that it needs to be backed up. My home is wi-fi hotspot, so the iPad is constantly connected. I am having problems getting to merely turn-off. Was there a software change recently?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I am lost and not sure what to do now. I locked my ipad which tells me to connect to to itunes. When I connect to either of my laptops it tells me that my ipad is locked and needs to have the code unlocked yet the ipad says to to go itunes as it is disabled. My laptops do not recognise my ipad. What do I do now ?
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode. -

How do I know if my iPad is locked to a carrier. I bought it from apple and bought a three sim. I've taken it out and I'm selling iPad cause I have new ipad2. Does this mean the old one is locked to three network or will any micro sim work .
Thanks for reply. I bought it from apple store and bought sim off them just as pay as you go, not on a pay monthly plan. Haven't used it since it ran out, only use wi fi but because I'm selling the old one somebody has asked if its locked, I just thought somebody might be able to tell me but thanks anyway.

My iPad frequently locks up, even after updating to iOS 7.1. When it locks up it's nonresponsive to the home button and the only remedy is to force a shut down and reboot. Help!
DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED IN ITUNES
If you have connected your device to your computer and it does not appear in the side bar in iTunes then for Windows computers read http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 or if you have a MAC then read http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591 for troubleshooting steps. -
Upgrade my IPAD from 8.1.3 to 8.2 via Itunes (from Windows Computer)
First I backed up the IPAD via Itunes on my Windows laptop.
Then I click upgrade IOS to 8.2 on Itunes.
Later got a upgrade failure pop up window.
Now IPAD is locked with a blank screen showing a cable connector and an arrow pointing to Itunes symbol.
The IPAD does not boot, and the Itunes does not recognize the IPAD.
turning on/off the IPAD does not change the display.
How to restore or reboot the IPAD?I rebooted the computer and tried once again using a different USP port. This did the trick!. I was able to run the IOS update and it stuck and timed out while the Itunes was indicating that it was verifying the IOS installation (on ipad I could see a grayed working bar). After it timed out the IPAD completed the task, and now it is working again.
Thanks! -
I have a pop up message on my IPad that says it has not backed up in two weeks and now my ipad is locked and I cannot use it. I connected it to electricity, it is already on Wifi, and locked it with the button on top. But the message has not gone away. I cannot turn it off or remove the message or or slide to unlock. What can I do?
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My grandsons new Apple refurbed 35g ipad keeps locking up with a black screen amd nothing else. I have reset it many times pressing the home and off buttons together but it keeps locking up. Help, please!
Thank you for trying to help. I followed your instructions, it took 6 hours to download, and then said it could not solve the problem (something to do with error 9?). It will have to go back to Apple - its only 3 days since it came out of the package and its very disappointing for him. Looks like I have to hang around in the Apple store in Plymouth all tomorrow until they can fix it, or will change it. Thanks for your help.

My iPad has locked so the screen doesn't rotate!? How do I un lock it?
when you flipped the switch did the roation icon appear in the middle of the screen for a moment?
one thing you can also try is...
Try doing a hard reboot
1. hold the power and home buttons down
2. you will see the "swipe to turn off" screen come up... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
3. The screen will go black (turn off)... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
4. A white Apple logo will appear on the screen, now you can release the buttons. Let the iDevice boot... should only take a couple minutes. -

My ipad is locked and i have to connect it to itunes
my ipad is locked and i have to connect it to itunes but now itunes wont accept it unless i unlock the ipad but i can't, what do i do?
I have no clue what you're talking about. Perhaps you can rephrase with correct spelling and real sentences that include initial caps and periods and other grammatical niceties.

My iPad is locked and has this message "this iPad hasn't been backed up. Backups happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked, and connected to wi fi". What should I do to continue using it please?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it. -
My Ipad is locked and it tells me to go to Itunes why
I have enter a password by mistake when I was making a change in the settings and then to compound my mistake I entered the password to many time and now my Ipad is locked and at the top of the screen on my ipad it says to connect Itunes. I don't know why therefore I don't know what to do ....can you help to bring my ipad back to life. thank you sonja
The connect to iTunes message it appearing because you've entered the code incorrectly too many times, it's a security feature. You will need to connect the iPad to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
