IPad 2 losing 3G connection?

Was working fine on Friday, but Saturday, 3G connection hasn't been working.  Keeps cycling between searching, no service, searching finding the network, but when I try to use it it stalls, and says no data connection or couldn't activate data network. Using three micro sim, tried rebooting and resetting network settings. Have iOS 4.3.3

These things do not resolve the problem, the only way I get a signal now is to reset the network settings, I get a signal for a short while and then when I don't use it for a while (ie if iPad is off) the 3G connection is gone again.  This is a problem that has only occurred since I made the mistake of installing ios8 (now 8.0.2).  If I could go back to 7 I would!  It is pathetic that Apple has not addressed this issue, I would have been buying an iPhone this week to replace an aging blackberry but have put that off now and considering something else because it is hard to have confidence in a product that just isn't fixed.

  • IPad losing wifi connection

Just adding my 2 cents here. My iPad Retina AND my wife's iPad mini lose connection to wifi constantly. I've researched and implemented all fixes but to no avail. This didn't start happening UNTIL WE UPGRADED TO 6.1.
One more post on this hopefully will get Apple to send us a fix. We still love ya guys...please send us a status report. We're getting killed out here. :(

If two different models have the same issue, then I would suspect the router. Router developers see to it that their products work well with Windows devices, but not so much with Apple products.

  • Ipad losing network connection--why?

Ipad I has started losing connection to home network (ATT Uverse) in past few weeks after several years of no such problems. Have not recently upgraded anything. Have not noted same problem with IMac, which also is on same WiFi connection. Has happened in several applications: email (gmail), newspaper periodicals, etc. Today, while having problems, opened iMac and then both worked fine (coincidental?). Do note that of the 8 networks in our area that show on iMac, only 1 other shows on Ipad, and sometimes a screen comes up when drop offline asking do I want to signon to that network (all are locked), other times to my network, and today, for first time, got indication several times that could not sign on to my network. Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, will try that next, if needed. It, as usual, spontaneously began to work properly again. I did go ahead and reboot the Ipad--will watch over a period of days to see if that prevents recurrance, which has been sporatic, but increasing.

  • My iMac keeps on losing internet connection. Webpages get stuck after a minute or so. If I check the internet connection via diagnostics it seems to work just fine. Others, like the iPad use the same wifi connection and never fail. What can I do?

Running 10.6.8 on Intel dual core iMac, it keeps on losing internet connection. Webpages get stuck after a minute or so. If I check the internet connection via diagnostics it seems to work just fine. Others, like the iPad use the same wifi connection and never fail. What can I do?

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • IPad and iPhone keeps losing wifi connection.

    Hi all,
So I'm having wifi connectivity issues that's rather annoying. On a daily basis, both my iPad 1st gen and my iPhone 4S disconnect from wifi and are then unable to connect until i restart my modem. Normally i would think its my modem acting up but no other device on the network has this problem. (All other devices are wifi also) Both my ipad and iphone are current on iOS updates, 5.1.1 and 6.0 respectively. I've tried restarting both devices as well but it doesn't help. Every morning I wake up and every night I get home they both refuse to connect. The iPad stays at my house while the phone remains with me. Any help/input would be great appreciated. Thanks

Although there might be a deeper rooted issue with the iDevices, I did manage to solve the problem another way, I just forgot to give an update in the discussion.
I read in another forum or discussion that the problem might be my wifi signal. I didnt think so at first because it only happened with my iDevices. So, just to be safe, i purchased a high end router designed for extreme gaming and sure enough.. I havent had a single issue with with my iDevices losing connection. From the very moment i plugged it in...no issues. That was about 3 1/2 months ago. All my devices (Laptop, Xbox, Ps3, wii U, Iphone, and iPad) have Excellent connection at all times except when my modem (not the router i purchased)  needs to restarted but thats normal and does not happen very often.
So if youre having any sort of connectivity issues with your WiFi i strongly suggest investing in an good router. I wont ever go without one ever again
Upon request, i will link the one i got, if anyones interested.

  • IPad Keeps Losing Wifi Connection??

    Hi,
About 2 days ago, my iPad 2 began losing wifi connection. I would have to tap "Forget this network" and then wait a bit and then tap on the network again and type in the password. After that, the iPad would gain wifi again until about 5-20 minutes later, it loses wifi connection AGAIN. Sometimes when I did that it still didn't even work! And it also bothers me because it still has the wifi sign in the top left corner of my ipad screen, even if the wifi connection is not working. This has happened continuously throughout the past 2 days. Sometimes, the wifi would work for a good amount of time before it was gone again, and sometimes it loses connection after like 3 minutes. But all the other electronics in my house are perfectly fine, it's just my iPad 2 that's been doing this.
I tried to tap "forget all network settings" and then restart my ipad, but that didn't help. I'm not sure if it's the iPad's problem (since all the other electronics work) or if it's the wifi.
Please help! This is very annoying.
(And i have a new update which is 7.1.2, but that's been there for a pretty long time bc I always forget to update it. But I don't think that's the problem.)

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Ipad losing connection

I keep having a problem with Ipad and WiFi.
THere are times when trying to load a page I get the following:
Safari can't connect to page because Ipad is not connected to WiFi.
I Am connected.   If I reload the page - it reloads.  Why is this happening?

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect OK?
Did the iOS device connect OK to this network before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • IPad (3rd gen) losing wifi connection during large downloads

    Hi,
I am having a problem with my iPad 3rd generation (wifi only, 64GB) running iOS 6.1.3.
When I download large files (e.g. via the iTunes app, the BBC iPlayer app, The Economist app), my iPad almost always loses wifi connection a minute or two into the download, and often stays disconnected until I go into Settings > Wifi and select my home network again. If I resume the download in relevant application, the same issue will typically recur within a minute or two.
I am not having any other problems with this iPad - general internet browsing / streaming of video has been fine. I originally thought the issue was only with the BBC iPlayer app, but sadly have found it to be more widespread.
I have tried to "forget this network", resetting network settings, restoring my entire iPad (twice), and resetting all settings - none of these have stopped the issue. Interestingly, during the first restore of the iPad I received ugly BIOS-esque messages relating to AppleBCMWLANCore, which disappeared after a hard reboot (power + home buttons together), and did not recur on the 2nd restore.
Anyone else experiencing something similar? Any suggestions to fix this?
    Cheers,
    James

  • Can't re-order my queue on Netflix and keep losing the connection

I'm having so much trouble with Netflix!  I can't re-order my queue, I keep losing the connection, and it's painfully slow. Is Netflix known to be unstable on iPad? Other internet connecitons seem to be fine.

I rarely have problems on it - I do occasionally have drops in video quality, but nothing consistent. It does require a very strong and stable network connection, and I also wonder if they have periodic "crush time" incidents on their end, considering the rapid growth of Netflix streaming.
Updating the queue is a pain on it - you can't do it on the app, and have to go to their website. I generally find it easier to do on a computer.

  • Losing internet connection with youtube in safari

I keep losing Network connection after  i use YouTube in safari. Need to restart iPad to get connection again. Anyone an solution? I Re installed already 2 times but without any luck.

Use the you tube app that came with the pad, and see if the problem happens there are well.
Do you internet on other apps or browsing?  I think you have an internet issue, not a you tube issue.

  • Ipads losing wifi

Lately my 3 iPads are losing wifi connectivity.
    I have 2 iPad 2 and 1 iPad mini.
Randomly, they all lose connectivity to the internet. Turning wifi on and off on the iPad usually fixes this issue.
My iPhone and MacBook however don't show that behvior.
    Any ideas?
I am running a 5th generation Airport Extreme with firmware 7.6.3.
    Thanks.

I did what you suggested. Turned off the whole network, and then tuned it back on, one device at a time.
While at first this seemed to have solved the issue, it did and does re-occur.
When I open my iPad from sleep and continue watching a streaming movie in Safari, after a few minutes the movie pauses by itself. Switching to Chrome to see if I can still browse the web then tells me I lost all wifi connectivity.
Turning off and back on wifi in the settings panel fixes this. I can then resume the movie.
It does seem to be connected to the iPad and not the AirPort Extreme, as I can still connect from my iPhone to the Internet, when my iPad lost connectivity.
What is strange though, is that this only started to happen recently, probably shortly after I purchased the iPad mini. But then, the other two iPads in the house (version 2), also started to show this behavior.
The only other change I remember was the upgrade of the AirPort Extreme to v. 7.6.3. My MacBookPro never loses connection, btw. The Airport's settings are the way Apple recommends them, leaving the channels on auto, using both bands for the same SSID (5.8 and 2.4ghz).
This is now starting to annoy me.
    Anyone has more ideas?
    Thanks!

  • What I do to pass the imported photos to the iPad (via the connection kit) for an HP notebook?

what I do to pass the imported photos to the iPad (via the connection kit) for an HP notebook? I want to move pictures to the notebook because I'm afraid to upgrade to ios 6 and losing my photos

You don't. The CCK doesn't support the export of photos at all. You can upload them to something like Flicker or dropbox adn then download them onto your computer.

  • IPad loses wireless connection.

Why does my iPad one keep losing connection with my TPG wireless broadband. This happens at random unless I am a few feet away from the router. My old Dell laptop stays connected reliably anywhere in the house.
The connection has always been poor but seems to have deteriorated with the recent upgrades in the OS.

I was having this same thing happen, although I have a pretty good high speed Internet connection.  However, my iPad was losing the connection especially when I was skyping or streaming media.  I made an appointment at my local apple store and they had it fixed by having me do a restart.   In other words, first you sync your iPad to your computer so you don't lose anything, and then do a total restart.  You do this while its connected to your computer.  However, DO NOT do a RESTORE BACKUP.  You want the iPad to be like it was when you got it.  You'll have to the sync it to get your apps back.
This worked for me.  I havent lost a connection since!  Hope this works for you!

  • IOS8 ipad2 - Losing 3g connectivity

I have an iPad 2 through AT&T.  I am constantly losing 3G connectivity.  I have to "power it off" and back on to reestablish my cellular data service.  Airplane mode will not work. Has anyone else seen this problem..??  It is random and I have yet to find out if there is any combinations of apps that could cause this problem.
    David

Since upgrading to iOS 8.0.2 (I did not upgrade to 8 or 8.0.1), I have had the same issues with my cellular service dropping that others are reporting.  I also powered off and restarted my iPad 2 to get service back.
But, I remembered a prior problem with iOS and Wi-Fi and tried the workaround for that old issue and it worked.  When the iPad shows no cellular service, go into Settings, Language and Region, and change your language to some other language than your default.  Then after the language change, go back in and switch it  back.  Cellular service restored.  It takes me less time than powering off and rebooting.
I do not know if this will help dropped or hung Wi-Fi sessions but would not be surprised given that this was a workaround for an old Wi-Fi issue.  Since doing this on my iPad 2 I have not dropped cellular coverage but I expect the issue to return.
I have no idea why language settings are tied to or affect cellular or Wi-Fi but they have in the past and apparently they still do.
