IPAD 2 Mail attachments

When I am away from home/office with just my iPad2 I receive many short MPG files, just short videos of various work items. How do I get the video app to open the e.mail attachement so I can view it. If I open the email and click of the file then I just get a message that mail can't open this file. Cheers guys!

The video must be in an iPad compatible format.

Is there a way so you can watch QT movies in the iPad that come as mail attachments? So far it keeps wanting to open the attachment in a .PDF able app but not on QT

If tapping the AT&T or iPad text instead sends you back up a level to the mailboxes, first tap in the Search box, and then on the AT&T / iPad text.
I can't believe it's taken me, and so many others it seems from the forum posts, so long to find this shortcut.  Clearly not the most intuitive!

Is it possible to add an attachment and or contact in Ipad mail while composing a message

Emailing a NDA (non disclosure agreement) back to people that I will not have anything to do with other than this ONE email - therefore not wanting to place them three of them in the contacts.
I needed to attach the signed agreement (thanks PDFPen) to the reply, but cannot.
Some one smell an App opp?
    Someone hopefully is listening?

Not quite following you. Once the email is displayed, you can address it to whomever you choose. The recipients do not have to be in your contacts list. Just type the email addresses.
As for "someone listening", this is a USER forum. We don't work for Apple.

  • I can no longer share my songs as e-mail attachments. What happened?

I can no longer share my songs as e-mail attachments. The only sharing options I have are for Facebook, YouTube, Soundcloud, iTunes, and as Ringtone. What happened? I'm using the Garageband App 1.4(180.6) This happened once before, and by the time I'd gotten done submitting my question, the problem was fixed.

I powered my iPad off, and started it back up. Works fine now. huh.

  • How to select multiple recipients in iPad mail

I have read that I can't create groups, but how to select multiple recipients in iPad mail?
I was looking for this when setting up for two new people who are going to have the iPad as their only device.. and they do need to email a bunch of people at once..
I was sending out the 'I have a new email address' BCC for them.
    Thanks.

You can select multiple contacts by tapping on the + sign in the upper right corner in the To: field when you are typing a new email. Just keep tapping the + sign and your contacts will pop up in a window. Select the contact that you want to add, repeat the process in order to add as many recipients as you want.
There are other mail apps that let you creat groups and email to those groups.

I am sure there are other, but those are two that I know of.

  • IPad Email Attachments showing up as empty/missing icon question mark

So this is a very odd bug that is happening on both the iPad and iPhone os, albeit it occurs more on the iPad.
When I sent PDF attachments that shows up on my normal apple mail (as a preview PDF inside the email content), it is showing up as a empty icon in the ipad mail even though iPad mail does note it has an attachment with the paperclip mark.
Keep in mind my email acct is synced over imap on the iPad, iPhone, and apple mail. The pdf attachment opens in apple mail without problems.
This problem also occurs on my iPhone but it is less often.
I hope a described the problem well. If anyone like to see the email for themselves contact me at [email protected] and i I'll forward you the email with the PDF attachment.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about my ipad or my mac?
I was talking about your Mac, but you should probably check that setting everywhere. On the Mac it is in Mail Preferences > Accounts for each account. On the iPad it is in the Settings > Mail. There is also a "Load Remote Images" setting that could have an effect.
I honestly think it is a bug. Does anyone know where is the best place to report this to apple?
The Apple Bug Reporter. But before you report a bug, you really have to try to identify a sequence of steps that can reproduce the error on demand. Otherwise, you are wasting your time and Apple's and they will ignore it. I know that when I submit a bug or enhancement report and an Apple engineer responds with something like "hold down command and shift as documented in the online help" I feel like a real schmuck.

In may IPhone4 all attachments are opened! No problem at all!
Thanks for any hint, which may help to solve this problem!

Answer: the Emails with word attachment have only been in the Box "drafts" and not been sent to my email Account.
So the Doc. Was not realy loaded and could not be opened.

  • Where are mail attachments stored?

On my Macbook Pro all attachments are available to be opened when I'm not connected to the internet. I assumed this was true with ipad but could not open attachments on plane yesterday. So, I assume in ipad attachments are stored on server (I use mobile me) and must be opened/downloaded individually then saved in other apps like Goodreader or Pages. If this is true, is there any way to automatically store attachments like a mac does in mail downloads?

Mail attachments are stored on the server. You need to tap on the attachment to down load them to the iPad. The same holds true for a desktop or laptop computer.
If your need to view an attachment where you don't have an Internet connection it is best to open the attachment before hand when you an internet connection.

  • After I updated iOS 5 can´t use the "open with" for mail attachments.

After I updated iOS 5 on my iPad 2, I can not use the "open with" for mail attachments. The option is not appearing.
For example, when I try to open an .wmv attachment the iOS 5 doesn´t show "open with". Before update, I was able to open with "AZUL" software.
    Can anyone help me?

You did say that the option does not appear at all in mail no matter which file type you want to open correct? I can only assume that something went corrupt in the update that affected your settings and that's why this option no longer appears. For experimental purposes, you could try emailing a PDF to yourself and see if that will allow you to use the Open in function in the mail app.
If nobody else jumps into this discussion with a different idea, then maybe you should try restoring your iPad. The best way to do so is - first backup the device - and then restore to factory settings and then you can try restoring from a backup at the end of the process.
However, if one of your settings is corrupt, the backup will be corrupt as well. It may be that you will have to restore to factory settings and then start all over again - adding your apps and content back to the device to get the best results. I would certainly use this process as a last resort. Restoring from a backup maybe all that you need to do.

  • E-mail Attachments are only allowing me to open in e-mail as opposed to PDF, PPT, GIF or any app that is relevant to the attachment.

E-mail Attachments are only allowing me to open in e-mail as opposed to PDF, PPT, GIF or any app that is relevant to the attachment.

Meaning if you use the "tap and hold down on the attachment" you are not getting the "Open In" option? Or should we just keep guessing about what might be happening?
If that is what is happening, deom the home screen .... quit the mail app completely in the recent tray by double tapping the home button to bring up the recents tray - and then tap and hold down on the mail app icon in the recent tray until it wiggles, then tap the red minus sign to quit the app. Restart the iPad and then try the "tap and hold down" on an attachment again.

  • Opening adobe mail attachments

Previously I could open mail attachments in adobe reader by clicking on them.
In particular, this was the case with adobe portfolios.
Suddenly this has stopped working, and all I get is an inactive box saying "Get Adobe reader" embedded in the e-mail.
This stops me from using my ipad for one of the main uses for which I bought it.

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
    For .sit files, see:

For .wmv files, Window Media Player has been the standard, but not for later MacIntosh systems and I think especially for your Intel Mac. See:

  • HT4623 Default mail app crashes. I can't open mail attachments. How do I restore the mail app?

I updated my ipad3 to iOS 7 last month. First thing I noticed is I can't continuously open yahoo mail attachments in the form of PDFs like I used to do. Just recently I installed iOS 7.0.6 in the hope that it will resolve this issue. I also deleted the "attachments.me" app thinking this may solve the problem. But my problem worsened as I discovered that I cannot also open ".doc" or word files. I have tried restoring my ipad last night but an error occurred during installation.
I can open the .doc or PDF mail attachments from safari though.
    Any suggestions.

You need to download the Google Notifier and set it as the default email client. To restore the application, try running the applicable combo updater; if that doesn't work, you'll absolutely need the disks or a backup to get it back.

  • I can't open mail attachments on iPhone or iPad2

Since I updated my iPhone 4 and iPad2 to iOS5.0 I cannot open any mail attachments. I get the arrow to download. I click it, the file counts down the kb and then the screen flashes and that is it. I can't hold down the file and get the "open is" option. Nothing appears. I'm not sure that iOS5 is the problem but it happened about the same time. Can anyone help?

Attachments that show as a bold downward pointing arrow in a gray rectangle in a dotted box have not yet been downloaded to your phone (usually because they are large). Tapping such an icon should download the attachment if you are connected to the internet and your mail server is reachable. Once downloaded, they should appear as normal (which would depend on the attachment type).
This is the "Using iPhone" forum, so I said phone, but the same applies on an iPad.

  • E-mail Attachments wont download

    Hi,
I am hoping this has been covered somewhere or someone may have experienced The same issue. I received my Z10 in April this year and generally find it ok, no where near 100 % happy but ok. The main source of my frustration is The inability to open e-mail attachments regardless of size or doc type. The attachment goes to about 2/3rds and then stops and will not download any further. The problem is I cannot send it to another device to open as it has not downloaded in The first place. Of course not an issue if I am in The office but a right pain when I am out in The field and have been sent documents which I cannot download or open.
Any constructive help would be very much appreciated
    Cheryl

  • Where are Mail attachments (IMAP)

can i access mail attachments in "Local Mail" or IMAP based email?
i have a series of 3-ring binders with resumes and portfolios in them and i am trying to move this "database" to a digital database. since i am not sure that i have sorted all the EMAILS from which these resumes and portfolios came, i don't want to have to find every email sent with these printed documents and it would be much easier to scroll through the attachments in coverflow and grab the ones i need digitally while trashing the corresponding paper version...
    ideas?
    thanks.
