IPad 2 mic no longer working

My iPad 2 mic doesn't seem to be working.  It has worked the first few times I used it, but now can't record audio for garage band, nor can my FaceTime send any audio.  Help

Have you tried any of the following?
1) Close all open applications on iPad. Fully shutdown. Restart.
2) Use iTunes to do a system restore. Be sure to do a full backup beforehand.
If that does not help, consider making a Genius Bar appointment.

Did you try deleting then reinstalling the app?  Sometimes developers will need to update their apps for compatibility.  If it still doesn't work after reinstalling, wait a few days to see if an app update becomes available.

My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • The home button on my iPad is no longer working.  To get to a new app I have to turn off the iPad and restart it.

The home button on my iPad is no longer working.  To get to a new screen or App I have to turn the iPad off and then restart it.

Try calibrating the home button and see if that works. If it doesn't, you could also try restoring with iTunes. Try this first.
    Calibrate the home button
    1. Open a stock iOS app, such as Contacts
    2. Press & hold the sleep/wake button at the top of your device until the red slider control appears.
    3. Immediately release the sleep/wake button and press & hold the home button. Hold until the red slider disappears.

  • After downloading iOS 8.1.1 the apple apps on my iPad 2 no longer work.  Anyone else having this issue

after downloading ios 8.1.1, my apple apps no longer work.  Anyone else seeing this?

It might fix corrupted apps, but now you have the Settings app freezing on you. At this point, I would close every app in the multitaski g display and then reset the iPad again in the manner in which Ralph described above.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it. Close every app this way. If you have never done this before, it can take a few minutes to close them all if you have a bunch apps in the display.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • USB Mic no longer works with Skype after 7.1 updat...

Using a USB headset with skype, worked with previous versions, works with other programs. I can hear people talk but they can't hear me! Skype detects the mic just fine but when I talk nobody can hear me.
I have tried updating drivers, re-installing skype, I have tried deleting my profile/preferences from the skype folder on my PC and starting from scratch, tried restarting my computer, re-installing my headset drivers, and tried restarting or re-plugging in my mic. Nothing works. Skype simply doesn't use my mic properly in the new version, previous versions did not have this problem, as I said mic works fine in all other programs.

Hi pa.elimination, Can you please reproduce the issue and provide logs as described in this link https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12321/how-do-i-create-log-files under Skype for Windows Desktop and attach it to your post?
This will help us investigate and solve the problem you are experiencing.
Can you also try with the 7.0 version to see if that version solves your issue?

  • IMac mid 2010 w OSX 10.9.5: headphone with mic -- mic no longer working

I've been using the same headset plus mic with my iMac for a couple of years. Has worked fine until yesterday. Now the mic does not work. Headset / mic still work fine with my phone and other computers so nothing wrong with the headset. Checked system preferences -> sound -> input and the headset shows up but the blue bars don't move when I talk into the mic. I rebooted the machine and still have the same problem.
    Any ideas? Thanks.
    Jim

I tried resetting the SMC and PRAM. No luck unfortunately.
I've tried two headsets and neither are working (both worked fine two days ago). I've used both headsets on other devices and they are working fine there.
I can hear through the headset but cannot be heard when I talk.
    Thanks.
    Jim

  • IPad alarm no longer working properly

I have an iPad and have been having problems with alarms for severall months now.  I have a few different alarms set for different reasons and the first one to go off in the morning is sometimes 4 minutes late and sometimes as long as 30 minutes late.
I tried also using different apps, reinstalling, restoring from backup and deleting all alarms and resetting new ones.
Nothing works.  Once the ipad is in use, though, during the day, the alarms work ok.  It is when in sleep mode in the night that it fails.  It used to work for the last year or two during the night, so I am not sure what has happened.
Has anyone had this problem on the ipad or know of a solution?
    Thank you.

Googled and googled, but didn't find anything about it
Hope someone else can help you
    Good luck!

  • Wireless USB mice no longer work

First, I'm left-handed and use my mouse on the left side of my laptop, so let's dispose of that suggestion right off the bat.
When I got my MBP, I bought a nice Microsoft cordless mice, the kind that has a USB dongle that snaps in to the base. It worked great for a long time. At some point, one of my co-workers bent the dongle, damaging it slightly. Time passed, I didn't need the mouse very much, and it stopped working (yes, batteries were replaced). Didn't matter if I plugged it in to the left or right USB port.
I found an unopened Logitech USB cordless mouse and decided to give it a try. It also doesn't work.
I tend to doubt that both mice failed, I'm more inclined to think that my laptop is, for whatever reason, not seeing them. I know the USB ports are good as I plug in my iPod, Time Machine drive, and printer in to either of them.
Any suggestions for diagnosing this? Yes, my laptop has been rebooted. I'm running OS 10.6.6, but this problem probably goes back at least one or two versions down.
I just wish I could find a good BlueTooth mouse. I've tried the Apple mice and the Microsoft BT mouse that was "Mac Compatible" (it didn't work), and I just haven't found one that I like. I really like the feel of the MS USB wireless mice.
Oh, well! And thanks for any suggestions.

The Microsoft Mouse did not require a driver, OS-X recognized it right off the bat.
It's kind of moot, I bought a Magic Trackpad last week so I no longer need a mouse.  Thanks anyway.

  • My mail account on ipad 2 no longer works..seems frozen and the settings button is also not working

My I pad 2 was working great until tonight when I went to get mail...nothing..it was like it wasn't even searching, frozen..so I went to settings and that too was not working when I checked on mail, contacts..nothing would hightlight or work..all the rest of the settings were responsive.

Try resetting the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears and then let go of the buttons. Ignore the red slider bar.
You can try this as well if the reset doesn't work. Close all apps. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Mic no longer works in Vi

I have an MSI mobo that has a built in x-fi sound chip. It has worked fine the past 6 months until maybe two weeks ago when i updated the creative driver via Vista. Ever since then I can not get the mic to work at all. It doesnt matter if I plug into the front panel or the rear. I uninstalled the new driver and reloaded using the driver that came from MSI. No dice. I still have no mic. I next went and formatted my pc, reloaded vista, and installed the MSI x-fi drivers and still no luck.
After reading the forums here I decided to give up on Creative and went to buy a new sound card. Not wanting to wait for shipping I went to Best Buy but all they had there were Creative X-Fi cards. I asked about their return policy and was told that I could install the card and if it did not work i could bring it back. So I have now installed an Xtreme Gamer card. I disabled my onboard sound and still no luck at all with getting the mic to work. I followed the instructions in the "getting recording in vista to work" sticky and that didnt help at all.
In recording devices now I have Microphone, Line-in,? What U Hear, and Auxiliary. I have disabled all but one at a time and cant get any of them to work. Monday I will be taking the card back to Best Buy and ordering a different brand if I cant get this to work before then. Anyone have any suggestions?

I had a similar problem with this new driver version. After reinstalling drivers several times I realized that if I set the speakers to anything except 2. audio the microphone wouldn't work. Maybe this would work for you, I hope this is fixed soon in another driver release.
