Ipad 2 not charging using wall charger or mac

Ipad 2 wasnt charging properly and/or not charging at all. i have replaced the usb charger with a brand new one and it worked properly for awhile. Now, it doesn't charge using the adapter and using my mac. Sometimes it will charge, sometimes it wont, sometimes it will charge slowly, and sometimes it shows a percentage of battery life, but image says its fully charge. I haven't tried using a different adapter or usb besides the one that came with it, a generic ipad usb, and a apple brand new usb charger. All three wasn't working properly. My ipad is only 5 months all, looks brand new, no scratches no damage at all. And I need to also know if apple can fix this without charge if they don't see any misuse or accidental damage. I was also wondering how long it will take for them to fix it especially I live in Guam. Thank you!

Are you using the wall charger that came with your iPad? (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC359LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY) Charging the iPad through the standard USB Power Adapter (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB352LL/B?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY) is not supported because the iPad needs a higher wattage to charge. If you are using the charger that came with your iPad and continue to receive this error, I would book service at your Apple Store.

Then it's time to make an appointment at your Apple Genius Bar at your Apple Store.  Apple will check it out and if it's defective and still in waranty (you don't say which model you have), it will be replaced.

The best way to charge an iPad is to use the charger that came with it connected to a known good wall outlet. The following might be the problem.
    No power in the outlet.
Bad charger unit. Try a different charger.
Bad cable. Try a know good cable.
Dirt in the connector on the iPad. Check and clean.
A fault in the charging software. Reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
A hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • HT4060 iPad will not charge if hooked by USB to pc or plugged into wall.  How do I know if the problem is with iPad, cable or power adapter.  I have a 12, 10 and 5W adapters no success with any.  Only one lightening cable so can't swap cables.

I'm sorry but this is too funny to pass up.

  • HT4060 Even though the iPad is not charging, will it still use the USB for operating power?

I was wondering if there is enough power for operating (to conserve battery), even though there is not enough power for charging?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. My iPad will not charge, it can sync to iTunes and transfer data/music to it, but when plugged in to a USB or an A/C wall adapter all it says is not charging.

A lot of computers (especially older ones) generally do not provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.
In terms of the wall charger, have you tried a different charger and/or cable, or do you know anybody else with an iPad so that you can try their charger and cable and they can try yours ?
Have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • My iPad will not charge and every time I charge it. It comes up with the iTunes icon and I will not charge, it is not a new I pad and the same charger I use for the I pad I use for my I phone and it will charge. What is wrong?

What exactlyare you seeing on the iPad's screen ? If it's the iTunes icon and a cable then that means that it's gone into recovery mode - you will need to connect it to your computer's iTunes and you should be able to use that to reset it back to factory defaults and you can then restore/resync your content to it.

  • Hi my new ipad will not charge in mains or PC??

hi I have had my brand new ipad for about a month and i can't seem to get it to charge it charges when it wants so to speak, I've tryed it in the mains in about 10 different plug sockets and on 3 PC's one been a laptop and it doen't charge when you want it to. what help can you give me?????

When you plug into a computer, it may say "not Charging", but it will charge but slowly. If this is the case, the cable is good. Therefore, the wall charger must be defective.
Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Ipad will not charge

My ipad 3 went from 5% battery to shutting down. On attempting to charge it up, it gives the icon on the screen of a depleted battery, and after a few minutes the apple logo appears, and after which it turns off. Pressing any of the home buttons or sleep/wake button simply repeats the cycle. I have changed chargers, wall socket, attempted to charge via computer but to no avail. On one occasion, it got as far as briefly showing my home screen before shutting down again. Note that I have kept it plugged in for 12 hours now.
    Suggestions?

After downloading ios 7.0.2, my ipad will not charge completely.  What can I do to fix?

I've the same problem after installed iOS7.0.2, my ipad3 just couldn't charge to 100% when pluging on my desktop, so I have to use wall plug for full charge. I am sick of iOS 7 and wish I didn't upgrade it.

  • HT4060 iPad 2 not charging after iOS 7 update

    Hello all,
After updating to the new iOS my ipad is not charging at all... I did atatch it to a phillips dock and noticed that it did not charge for some reason, then I tried it's own cable and no luck.
Now I tried to charge it though my MacBook usb cable and all I am getting is the red line on the battery sign but does not seem as it is charging....
Any tips on how to fix this?? I recently read that with the new iOS Apple is blocking fake cables and I am worried that the dock had something to do with it?
I am absolutelly sure it's cos of the new iOS unfortunately I dont have enough batterry to install an upgrade and hope that would fix it, I am always on 1-2%.
Thanks for all your thoughts and comments you might have!

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Then see if the battery will charge.
For charging to a wall outlet, only use the power adapter and cable that can with your iPad.

    Hello,
I have an iPad with retina display, 32gb, AT&T.
A few days ago the iPad was left over night with about a 45% charge. The next morning the iPad battery was dead. I plugged it into the wall charger and left for the day. When I came home it still wasn't showing a charge. It seems to want to reboot, but it's stuck in a loop between thowing the red battery and the apple logo, then my home screen picture flashes and it goes back to the red battery. The iPad has been plugged in tthe entire time.

  • My iPad is not charging properly

    hi,
my iPad is not charging properly
    regards
    saravanan

    saravanan,
There aren't too many things that prevent an iPad from charging. First be sure you are using the charger that came with the iPad and you have that plugged into a good wall outlet.
    1. Bad charger. Test by using a different Apple or name brand charger designed for iPads.
    2. Bad cable. Test by using a different Apple or name brand cable. Don't rely on cheap cables and chargers purchased at your local mini mart.
    3. Dirt, lint or fuzz in the connection port. Inspect and carefully clean if necessary.
    4. Software failure. Reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
    5. Hardware or battery failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Ipad 4 not charging with the ORIGINAL Power adapter that came in the box. Can't charge my iPad. I plugged in on PC all night and has been charged to 7%

Yesterday, as usual was going to charge my iPad, it was at 1%. Well, I took my ipad charger (original Apple official, I want to clarify that as a first step, I'm using the brand products than Apple) and plugged into an outlet ... The ipad began loading the first two minutes , then I got a notification telling me that the iPad could not charge with the charger.
I was quite surprised by the announcement. I disconnected and reconnected it .... again, I received the same notification. Then I disconnected and tried it on another outlet ... anything, yet. then I tried it on another outlet and ipad started charging. but after a while I had the same notice, not paying attention to that. I left it charging and I removed roughly 25% that of fear for something to happen. also remembered that situation (made 2-3 months ago where the iPad was not charging but after waiting a while disconnected, reconnected it and loaded normally).
so I decided to wait to re-connect the iPad to the outlet. This time, I plugged it into the outlet (fully discharged) at night and expected to find it loaded in the morning. But my surprise is that it still is off, it did not load anything.
I Bought the iPad in December 2012. Do you think that my iPad is hurt?
What can I do? Ay recommendation?
    Please, HELP ME!

Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.  You may also want to swap out the cable, just to confirm or rule out that it's bad.
If none of those fixes work, make the appointment at your apple store and have them check it out.
