IPad 2 Not recognizing WiFi

My wife is having problems with her iPad 2. We are traveling the US and many places we eat or stay does not work with her iPad 2. By this I mean her iPad 2 does not see the hotspot that her iPhone 4S, my iPhone 5, my iPad 3, my MBP retina and her HP laptop will see and connect with perfectly.
I have tried:
Turn Off her iPad.
Rebooting / resetting her iPad.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network. <== Network cannot be seen
Her iPad 2 however will still not see the WiFi.
No luck with any of these:

You may want to check with your cellular carrier for the Hotspot. I know that some providers/plans/devices will only support 5 devices connected simultaniously. you have listed a totall of 6 devices including the ipad 2 in question.

  • WiFi 3G IPad 2 not recognizing WiFi and only recognizing 3G.  Have only had the device 4 days and was working until today.  Now will not recognize WiFi and will only run on 3G.

Received new IPad 2 4 days a ago.  Set-up WiFi on home network and 3G on At&T service all has been working until today.  I turned 3G off Thursday so that WiFi was the primary source.  Yesterday went to a friends house and IPad recognized WiFi and was able to use.  Today not able to use WiFi at home only 3G.  WiFi is working on my laptop so that is not the issue.  Is there something that I am missing?

WiFi is on, but system is not recognizing it.  I am not fimiliar with Ask feature, what is this?  I have noticed from other posts that my WiFi indicator in the top left is grayed out.  I have tried restore settings that some people have recommended.  Sounds like alot of people are having problems with the newest launch of the IPad 2.  I had put that I have the iOS 4.3.2 but it is iOS 4.3.3.  Is there any problems with this operating system?

  • IPad not recognized in Windows 7 Ultimate

    Good Morning,
Last week, I received an iPad 32GB WiFi as a gift. At this time I was running Vista Ultimate 64 on my home system. When I unboxed the iPad I read the instructions and installed iTunes 64-bit 9.2.1 on my Vista system. I connected the iPad and it was detected and iTunes launched. I registered the device and then it downloaded the OS update and successfully updated it to 3.2.2
I also received Windows 7 Ultimate and wiped my system and installed it. All the drivers are loaded from my hardware vendors (chipset, video, sound, etc). I know USB functions as I am able to plug in digital cameras, my passport drives, etc. and they are all detected and work fine.
I installed iTunes 64-bit 9.2.1 again. I logged into iTunes with my user account and that works fine. However, now when I connect my iPad to my system, I get Windows pop up messages telling me the device is not recognized and the driver could not be installed.
I opened device manager and after several unplug/replugs of the iPad, half the time I see "Unknown Device" and once I saw "Apple Mobile Device" with a yellow !.
    I found Apple's KB article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
I followed the instructions by uninstalling the "Unknown Device" and scanning for new hardware. It detects Unknown Device again. I then right clicked on Unknown Device and chose to update driver and navigated to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Drivers and trying to update the driver to use the Apple Mobile Device Driver but I get warnings and errors during this process. The warning tells me it isn't a compatible driver with the device and asks if I want to install it anyway. I chose yes. It installs but then it gives me an error telling me the device cannot start.
I don't know what is wrong. Anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks for the help.

WOW with the help from Apple's Web Site I figured it out.

    I disabled 'Online Armour' then
and this one even more so...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
I found out that there is a whole raft of Apple software packages that are interrelated, they needed to be uninstalled in a certain order with the broswer closed.
In some rare instances, it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    1. iTunes
    2. QuickTime
    3. Apple Software Update
    4. Apple Mobile Device Support
    5. Bonjour
    6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
After they were all uninstalled I restarted windows to make sure the registery was updated properly.
Then all you have to do is reinstall iTunes which will add all of the above back all over again in the proper order.
Then I had to go into Win 7 SERVICES and STOP the new Apple Mobile Service and then restart it again so it would take effect.
Started iTunes, plugged in the iPad and every thing began working as expected.
    Thanks Apple.

  • IPad not recognized by iTunes, recognized by Windows as a camera

I first started using my iPad yesterday. Yesterday I was up until 2:30 in the morning trying to find a solution, to no avail. I had apple support call me today, but I missed their calls and now I have to wait again until they call me. But in the mean time, here's what's going on. My iPad is recognized by windows (XP Pro SP2) as a camera when I plug it in, but it will not show up in iTunes. I ran the diagnostic connectivity test in iTunes, and all lights are green except the one indicating that an iPod/phone/pad is plugged in. I've restarted the iPad, I've restarted my laptop, both numerous times, I have no firewall/antivirus running (as per older posts I've seen here) and still nothing. Today I plugged it into my mother's laptop, and iTunes recognized it without a problem, so I'm assuming it's something to do with my laptop. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Folks,
I had this problem with my PC (windows 7, 64-bit) and my iPad. After messing with it for a long time, I finally found the answer (bad USB driver). The following two step process should help resolve these kinds of problems more quickly.
The first step is to verify that the iPad (or iPhone) is really connected to your computer. This can be (really) checked using a program called USBDeview. You can get this (very small) program from http://download.cnet.com/USBDeview/3000-2094_4-10614190.html or http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html. Don't worry, it's not Spyware or Malware.
Just run the program and sort on the 'Connected' column. If your iPad or iPhone doesn't show up as Yes (under 'Connected') then your iDevice is not properly connected to your computer. Could be a cable problem. Could be an iDevice problem. Could be a USB hub problem. Note that your iDevice might be listed as what it is (iPad or iPhone) or it might be listed as 'Apple Mobile Device USB Driver' in the 'Description' column.
Apple has a number of ideas to resolve this sort of basic connectivity issue, including switching USB ports, resetting your iDevice, rebooting your iDevice, rebooting your computer, etc. You will need to try them until your iDevice shows up in USBDeview as 'Yes' under Connected.
If you iDevice shows up as 'Yes' under connected, it should also be visible in the Device Manager (found in the Windows 7 Control Panel under Hardware and Sound). You might find it under Portable Devices or it might be under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
The iDevice may or may not show up in the Windows Explorer. On some machines it does, on others it does not. Why is not clear.
If the Idevice is properly known to Windows and iTunes can't see it, then any number of other things could be wrong. Apple has a list. See the very useful page over at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. Testing shows that the Apple Mobile Device service must be running. Check this using Task Manager (started by right clicking the taskbar). Note that the iPod service and the iphlpsvc service must also be running. These services have different names under the Processes table versus the Services tab of Task Manager.
    AppleMobileDeviceService.exe - Apple Mobile Device
    iPodService.exe                      - iPod Service
    ItunesHelper.exe                     - iphlpsvc
Step 4 of http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 checks if the Apple Mobile Device USB is installed. This is essential and a common source of problems. In at least some cases, Windows will install the 'MTP USB' driver. Indeed, Windows will reinstall this driver if you uninstall it. The MTP USB driver is essentially a Windows bug (possibly caused by Microsoft). You must replace the MTP USB driver with the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. Step 4 explains how to do this. Note that you must use the 'Have Disk' approach. Otherwise, Windows will just reinstall the invalid MTP driver.
The Apple doc indicates that you can find the correct driver at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. Perhaps this is correct on some systems. You may find the correct driver in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
iTunes could make this a lot easier by checking if the iDevice is known to Windows (what USBDevier does) and if the Apple Mobile Device USB driver is properly installed for the iDevice. Sadly it doesn't perform either check. Note that iTunes does if some of the related services (see above) are actually running.

  • IPad not recognized by iTunes

    I have the following problem:
My new iPad is not connecting to iTunes. When I insert the USB cable I hear the USB-connect sound of windows, but in iTunes nothing happens.
However my previous iPad and iPhone are connecting without any problems. I followed all the steps in the guide on the Apple Support page, including completely deleting and reinstalling iTunes. Nothing helped.
    My stuff:
    OS: Windows 7
    Itunes: latest version
iPad with retina display, iOS 6.1 - the new one that will not connect
iPad 2, iOS 6.1 - connecting without problems
IPhone 4, iOS 6.1 - connecting without problems
Can anyone help me and solve this problem of my new iPad not connecting to iTunes?

I found a solution. It seems that Windows had a setting selected that drivers are not automatically installed if not available on the computer. So I changed this setting and my iPad was immediately recognized.
For people with the same problem: I went to: Control Panel > Devices and printers. Under Unknown I saw my iPad, so I right clicked and selected: Solve problems. Then it said something about missing drivers so I chose to install them. In addition the problem solve wizard pointed me to the setting in windows that drivers are not automatically installed.

  • IPad not recognized by itunes in Win7

    Hallo,
after setting up my computer new and changing to windows 7 (starting with a new SSD) my iphone is not recognized by itunes. In windows i get in
start -> system configuration -> hardware and sound -> printers and devices
8 devices in section 'printers and fax'
    5 devices in 'devices'
and in the bottom section 'not specified' the ipad device
The first question is if this is the right place to show for the ipad in win7. I see nothing in 'computer' in the windows explorer
If i plug and unplug the ipad from (several) USB ports (which are all 2.0) i get the typical windows sound for that
The problem is that the device does not show up in itunes. If i choose [Questionmark] / Start diagnosis in the itunes menu bar, all is green except for the one red light saying 'no ipad found'
I already worked through the official help
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/itunes/#section_0
with no result (itunes version 10.4.1.10, USB 2.0, itunes re-installed)
    Can anybody help, any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

I just worked again throught the link provided by Carolyn Samit
    I stumbled in the section
    3. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
There i read after gettin into the device manager
'Locate the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver in this list.'
I got a whole bunch of USB things in the device manager but none of them has the word 'apple' in it. Does that really mean i have to search for some apple word in the device manager?
Maybe someone out there with a working win7/ipad/itunes system can just confirm that
    a) he has some apple thing in the device manager
    b) his ipad does not show up in the windows explorer
    c) his ipad shows up in the section 'unspecified' in the start -> system configuration -> hardware and sound -> printers and devices
    Thank you

  • IPad not recognized by iTunes, recovery keeps failing.

I have not yet seen a real suggestion as to troubleshooting steps for this issue on these discussions.
The iPad is not recognized by any MB Pro except in recovery mode. I have tried different cables and different ports on different laptops. iPods are recognized. iPad works normally otherwise. Recovery keeps failing. After sitting in recovery mode for a few minutes, the iPad either shuts off or goes back to normal operating mode.
    iPad recognized sometimes by iPhoto.
I've tried all the stupid suggestions support had; erase and reinstall, remove iTunes and all files,
reinstall. (Dumb because the issue occurs on all MB Pros)
No one has had any answers on this issue on any posts on discussions.
iPad phone support keeps transferring me to MB Pro support (who's only TS answer to any problem is erase and install) who transfer me back to iPad who only know recovery and "I've never seen this problem before" or "it should work"
So, what is next? Wait and see if Microsoft comes up with a working product?

    On my iMac-22" , I encountered the same problem with a 3G iPad/ 64 GB .
Tried iPad-reboot , and resetting prefs. etc., other cables ,and iPhone & iPods were recognize but iPad was not.
Tried re-installing iTunes , but after connecting - no Pad.
Did a reset and the connection-symbol didn't show on th IPad screen... instead
it went straight to black , or operarting /Home screen .
I had the Pad a week, and only sync-ed it once before ( though I did
break off an automatic upload of my entire iTunes Library , changing it to manual picking ,but transferred fine on to the Pad ).
Good to read similar (or same?) problem ; indeed :
not many Forum-subjects on this yet.
I'll update and answer on here after resolving.
    thanks

  • IPad not recognized

I have an iMac dual core and bought a new iMac Core i3. When I set up the new iMac, I restored my files from a Time Machine backup. Mistake, I now had two machines with the same iTunes files and my iPad and iPhone were no longer recognized by either. I deleted the iTunes files on one computer. I reloaded iTunes on both. I reset the iPhone and the iPad. I was able to synch both with the new computer. I restarted both computers and I could still synch with the new computer. I shutdown and 24 hours later the new computer (and the old computer) would not recognize the iPad or the iPhone. I reinstalled iTunes and everything worked again. I shutdown and restarted, everything worked. Now, 24 hours later, the new computer will not recognized the iPad or the iPhone once again. Any ideas or experience?

De-authorizing failed on both computers. Being authorized or not doesn't seem to explain why neither computer would recognize the presence of the iPad or the iPhone after 24 hours but would do so immediately after iTunes was reinstalled. I think there is a difference between not syncing and not recognizing that the devise is attached.
That said, what seems to have worked:
I deleted everything associated with iTunes on the older computer and reinstalled it with no data files. I reinstalled iTunes on the new computer which allowed me to attach the iPad and load the OS update. Following that I loaded the OS .4 update on the new computer. Following that, I reinstalled iTunes on the new computer and shared its files with the old computer. Both are still authorized as 2 of my five allowed computers. So far, that seems to be working.

  • Ipad not recognized by Windows

When I connect iPad through my USB cable, Windows gives me an error that the USB device is not recognized - I have connected this way many times before with no problems?

Try a reset and see if it's recognised properly after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
And/or, if you haven't already done so, has your computer got another USB port that you could try ?

ipod touch & ipad are not recognized by itunes. i already removed & restarted  & reinstalled  the amds & itunes hoping it would work, but nothing!  maybe 3rd party software is interfering?? i think i temporarily disabled some software from that 3rd party list, like norton & mcafee i actually removed the mcafee program. and still itunes is not recognizing either item.  pls help. should i entirely remove the  all the security/firewall programs?

Thanks for the response but this didn't work for me. I went thru the whole comprehensive set of steps and still iTunes doesn't recognize either device. I'm not sure what else to do. I just can't synch them.

    HELP!  Please.

did you try all those steps:
Disconnect the device from the computer.
Save a screenshot by pressing the Home button and the Wake/Sleep button at the same time (the screen should flash briefly). Note: Taking screenshots and saving images on iPod touch requires iOS version 2.0 or later.
Reconnect the device to the computer.
Open the Device Manager in Windows as follows:
Windows XP: Click Start > Run. In the resulting dialog type devmgmt.msc and press Return on the keyboard.
Windows Vista or Windows 7: Click Start. In the dialog, type devmgmt.msc and press Return on the keyboard. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click "Continue".
Expand all the sections labeled below (not all sections may be listed):
    Imaging Devices

    Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Look for the entry that recognizes the device as a camera. This entry should be called Apple iPhone,Apple iPad, or Apple iPod.
