  • HT4356 Printing through a network on an iPad how do I download from hp , I have an older hp printer and just bought a Cisco n900 router I want to have my iPad print to the router USB

I am trying to print from my iPad through a network using a Cisco n900 router, any Ideas on how to do this I have hp printers older version c4480

    FrankieG-
You have three potential problems.  First, your printer is not on Apple's list of AirPrint printers <iOS: AirPrint 101>.  Second, AirPrint does not work through a USB connection.  An AirPrint printer must be connected to the network either by WiFi or by Ethernet.  Third, some WiFi routers do not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint.
To make your setup work, you can use an iPad printing App such as PrintCentral or Print n Share.  Either may work for you if their built-in text, browser, mail and photo programs meet your needs.  However, they can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.  You might also try the free HP App, ePrint Home & Biz.
Another approach is to run a program on your computer, that shares its printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  Printopia and FingerPrint can do that, and are reported to work well.  Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print.  <Printopia for Macintosh>  <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

  • HT4356 My Ipad prints to my airprinter that works OK but how do I set picture size/position etc

My Ipad prints to my airprinter that works OK but how do I set picture size/position etc. At the moment from the photos app it prints an A6 photo in top left corner. How do I change that to something different.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
If you put photo paper in the printer it will print correctly on the paper. Also, some photo printers will adjust the size photo printed when you put different size photo paper in the tray.

  • IPad printing help, please.

I have a Cannon MP620 and it is connected to my AirPort Extreme. I am having no trouble printing from my MacBook, but am having trouble printing from our iPad.
When I go to print on the iPad, it looks for printers, but is unable to find it. The iPad has all the updated software as well. Any thoughts? Thank you.

    CoMisch-
You may have two strikes against you. As Drsailer states, your printer is not on the AirPrint-compatible printer list.
Second, the printer must be connected either by WiFi or by Ethernet to a compatible WiFi router such as the AirPort Extreme. Connecting the printer to the router's USB port does not work with AirPrint.
There are several apps available that will allow you to print either directly to the printer or via a program that shares your computer's printers. Either case is a compromise.
Using an iPad "printing app" such as PrintCentral substitutes an alternate text, browser, mail and photo app for printing. In other words, the iPad native apps still won't print!
Using a program like Printopia, requires your computer to be available to share its printer.

  • Ipad printing through airport express base

Hello, I'm a new ipad user and I have been trying to print from my iPad to a USB Epson printer connected to an Airport express base. The printer is well connected to the home network since I can print from any computers on the home network. The two iPads we have don't see the printer. When we try to print, the iPad searches for a few seconds then gives an error message about printer not being seen.
I know that my printer is not in the compatible list of airprint printers but from I have read, a USB printer can be connected to an Airport Express base and it does the same, unless this is not usable on an iPad. Will I have to buy a new airprint printer or a solution exists?
    Thanks for the help.

This link - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356. provides a list of "air print compatible" printers.
Want to print from your iPad, but don't have an air print compatible printer?  Check out the applications available from the iTunes store.  Simply launch iTunes on the computer and select iTunes Store, or launch the iTunes Store from your iOS device.  Search out the key words "iPad Printing".

  • My iPad print-outs only come out on 1/4 of page. Any solutions?

MY iPad print outs on appear on 1/4 of page. Any solutions?

For a printer that lacks sensors the Photo app will print 4x6" photos. Maybe that is what you are seeing.
Higher end printers that have sensors will print the photo on the paper size that is loaded.
You can either load 4x6" paper in to your Deskjet 3070A or you can print from another app that offers more control over the output size. I sometimes place a photo in to Pages and resize it there. You can also try the HP eprint Home & Biz app.

  • IPad printing to net gear print server

Is there a app available for printing to a net gear WGPS606 print server?

    Rogers-4-
I doubt the iPad's AirPrint system will work through a print server, even if it is serving an AirPrint printer.  There could be a problem communicating Bonjour data between the printer and the iPad.  Contact the server manufacturer for their opinion/advice.
The iPad prints over WiFi.  If there is a WiFi path to the print server, one of the printing Apps like Print n Share may work for you.  You can contact EuroSmartz and ask if their Apps would work, but the only way to be sure may be to try it.
Search the iTunes App Store to see if your printer's manufacturer has a free printing App.  If so, you can give it a try.

  • I want to buy an hp m1536 laserjet for my ipad printing, I believe the printer is not wireless but has sprint. Is the print job going through my wireless router and does that router need to support AirPrint.

I want to buy an hp m1536 laserjet for my ipad printing, I believe the printer is not wireless but has sprint. Is the print job going through my wireless router and does that router need to support AirPrint.

The following model is airprint compatible, is this the one you have?
    HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf MFP
If not the "dnf MFP" model, then no.
The router needs to support the Bonjour protocol.  If not, the airprint won't work.

  • IPad Printing Preferences?

I can't find a way to set the print preferences for iPad printing on my B210a. It seams to default to normal or high quality which I don't need. From a pc you can select draft in preferences, but I can't find a similar function for the iPad. The printer menu doesn't have a method to change the default. Any ideas?

I have a canon pixma mg5400 and I want to be able to print in black and white...and maybe only print one of the pages...is there an app or a way to do it without logging onto the computer?

  • Can my iPad print to a dell 964?

Can I only print to an apple printer?  Help

Can my iPad print to a dell 964?
    No.
Can I only print to an apple printer?
    Apple does not manufacture printers.
iOS devices can only print directly to AirPrint printers.
To print directly from an iPad / iPhone you will need an AirPrint compatible printer or another device to act as a print server. That can be a Mac computer running Printopia ($19.95 with free trial) or AirPrintActivator (donation - supported). The Mac must be "on" but may be asleep for them to work. Equivalent PC options exist but you're on your own finding them.
You can also buy this standalone print server:
    http://www.lantronix.com/it-management/xprintserver/xprintserver.html
These options enable you to use any printer available to your Mac, even older ones that may predate AirPrint by decades.
Otherwise you will need to buy an AirPrint printer or multifunction device.

  • TS3274 why won't my ipad print?

Why won't my ipad print ?

    Hello Karwen,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
    AirPrint Basics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Has power and is turned on. If it has power, turn the printer off and then on again to see if that resolves the issue.
Is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iOS device.
Has the latest firmware version installed.
Has paper with enough ink or toner installed.
Is free of any errors displayed on the printer's control panel.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • If Apple is so full of geniuses, why can't they come up with a usb cable to connect the iPad to a printer? This would seem like the most intelligent first choice for those of us who are absolutely frustrated with iPad printing functionality.

My sister has an iPad and an HP printer. She cant' print from her iPad even though a genius at the Apple Store sold the combination to her with the idea that it would be easy to do. Instead, I have to go to her place with my MacBook, she sends me an email, and I hook up my laptop to her printer to print what she needs. Why can't the Apple geniuses come up with a USB cable and an OS update to make it easy and NOT SO FRUSTRATING to print from the iPad?
I've been a Mac user for fifteen years but I could not, in good conscience, recommend an iPad to anyone until Apple considers that ease of use does not include regularly getting frustrated with the easiest of tasks.

all printers speak a diffrent "computer language" for a device to understand this language
    a driver is required
some devices such a computers come with drivers for a long line of printers and other devices
apple decided that it was better not to include that huge list of drivers as users would then not have
much storage left for media and apps
then apple let printer makers make apps for printing in app store and make printers support airprint
