  • Backing up iPad issue during iOS5 install

I am unable to back up the iPad during the iOS5 installation... takes forever, then never completes.
Can I install iOS5 with out performing the backup?  I have backed up the iPad during regular syncs (where would I find that backup if I had to do a restore?)

Same problem. At second attempt got a message that ipad memory was over capacity.  I had 6GB free on the ipad2 when I started to upgrade and it was now telling me i needed more!  After deleting all my photos (4GB which had been loaded from camera and the only way I could find to do this was one at a time!) the upgrade apparently succeeded but in itunes it said I now had 8GB of "Others" in the memory and only 1 GB free.
Lookign in "Diagnostics & Usage data" I can see 3 scripts coinciding with the upgrade attempts all of which start with "Sysinfocrashreporterkey" 2 with "bug-type 193" a couple of lines down, and one with "bug-type 109"
    Questions:
What are the 8GB of "Others" and how do i get rid of it?
How can I bulk-delete photos transferred from camera?
What do the bug-types refer to and do they indicate a solution?

If you used iTunes on your computer to download the app, suggest you download the app using your iPad. Should then install correctly.

  • When I updated to iOS 8.1 on my iPad 2 it failed when installing it's in recovery mode and when I go to iTunes to restore it downloads the update to about 900 Mbps then gives me error 9006

When I updated to iOS 8.1 on my iPad 2 it failed when installing it's in recovery mode and when I go to iTunes to restore it downloads the update to about 900 Mbps then gives me error 9006

    Hi Willy,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The article below provides information about specific update and restore alerts, including the 9006 alert that you saw when attempting to update your iPad 2 to iOS 8.1. Try using the instructions provided to see if the issue is caused by a conflict with the security software on your computer.
Resolve iOS update and restore errors
    Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.
    I hope this helps,
    -Jason

I repeatedly receive an error when my IPad is trying to restore during the IOS 5 update. The error is (-50).  How do I fix this?

Try restarting everything and then try to sync or reactivate. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, reboot your iPad and then try again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

You can't resolve the issue.  Your phone is bricked.
This is the error message that happens when you try and update a jailbroken phone.
Discussion of jailbroken phones is prohibited by the Terms of Use of this forum.
You need to buy another phone.

  • Disconnected ipad during ios7 install

I disconnected my ipad 3 during ios7 install - I know we're not supposed to do that but I did!
Now, the battery power drained before I could hook it back up to my desktop/Itunes and I can't get it to restart
My ipad won't reboot and when it's plugged in it will only show the battery icon with a little bit of red - and it won't charge beyond that point
Any tips on how to get it going again? I have a back up of my old set-up so am ok if I have to erase everything/reset to factory settings etc
    Thanks!
    Lisa

This has sorted itself out! Phew

  • IOS5 install. phone restore failing. returning error (-10)

running itunes 10.5 on windows7. attempted iOS5 install. phone restore continually failing returning error (-10)

had a similar problem running plain leopard on a mac mini... just about to start beating my head against the wall when i tried:
-backed up the pre-5 iphone using itunes
-made sure the ios5 software was downloaded
-clicked on restore instead of update, since "restore" will use the latest iOS, installed just fine. No data lost.

  • IPad Air apps won't install Shows as intalled

I have downloaded apps from app store they show as being installed while downloading then go away and do not show on iPad after downloads completes. When I check the app store they show as intalled with an open button next to them. Clicking on the open button does nothing app will not open. This is my first iPad so there is not an issue with a former iPad. iTunes also shows missing apps installed.

Yea I tried that one as well all no go. I am thinking I may have used the wrong terms to describe what the app store icon show when open and listing what is on the iPad. The app icon appears with the word "open" next to it when the app store purchased file is open. But clicking on it does nothing.
I have even watched the icon appear during the install the once it completes it disappears. I guess a trip to the genius bar may be in my future I have tried everything short of a complete restore.

  • Toshiba M305D : blue windows screen during the install of Windows 7 / Vista, no Audio on Windows XP

    Dear Users
Last week I had a clean install of Windows 7 64bit on my M305D-S4830 laptop.
I've used this OS on this machine before, and it worked fine.
After installing Win7, the device manager showed 2 unknown devices. First I've installed the O2 multimedia card reader, and it went ok. Secondly I've installed for the unknown device "hdmi audio" a hdmi audio driver from ATi, since the notebook has AMD 780V chipset and a Radeon HD3100 (it hasn't any hdmi output, but I didn't want to have any unknown devices).
    And my nightmare begun.
While restarting after the driver upgrade, my brand new Win 7 boot hang on blue screen code: 0x00000124, which is common for many hardware and software faults. I ran safe mode to clean the system from the hdmi audio driver, but the catalyst install manager dind't let me to remove it. Since it was a fresh install on a formatted HDD, I took the time for another clean install (20 mins). But during the Win 7 install, the installer hang on blue screen, guess what, code: 0x00000124. I changed to the factory-backup Win Vista disks of my laptop, but Vista had the same problem, I couldn't install this OS either, blue screen during install, too.
I took a Win XP Prof SP3 as a last option, and I could finally install it. But after the install, I had problems with the Radeon HD3100, I couldn't install the driver from the .exe, I had to make it from the device manager via properties/I choose to/graphics adapters/own disk. So I don't have the control centre, but the display works in 1280x800.
The bigger problem is: no sound.
The device manager in Win XP shows only one unknown audio device: the hdmi audio. I can't install the conexant drivers, because it says I don't have the device for that. When I install the ATi hdmi driver for XP, I get the blue screen with the error 0x00000124. Nice.
I have updated bios, and made a proper format with the partititons deleted, but it didn't helped. I think the Vista/7 install crashes at the point, when it tries to install the audio driver during OS install, because the XP was running until I have tried to install it, too. But I can't configure the Vista/7 install not to try loading it.
So my laptop is only comnpatible with XP, the install of Vista or 7 crashes. And in XP, I have got no audio devices, therefore no sound. You can imagine, how glad I am looking at my Harman/Kardon speakers right now...
    Any ideas?

    Any ideas?
Alex, restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. If you didn't burn them, order the discs.
       Order Toshiba Recovery Media
If it doesn't run properly after that, you have a hardware malfunction.

  • Hi, please help me , i get notification about a new update for my iPad when I do the instal for the new version it is asking me for a passcode but which passcode may I have to enter? Because when I enter my gmail passcode it is call me that my pass fail

Hi, please help me , i get notification about a new update for my iPad when I do the instal for the new version it is asking me for a passcode but which passcode may I have to enter? Because when I enter my gmail passcode it is call me that my passcode is failed

The passcode you need to enter is the passcode you set on your device. It is the passcode that you enter when you turn on your iPad or awaken it from sleep after and Auto lock.
If you do not know or remember your password and did not store it somewhere then you will have to restore your device.

  • Errors occurred during installation, install failed.

So recently I got into a bit of trouble when my web browsers got hacked and started installing some adware on my computer... I'm still getting that sorted out, but I think while I was going through my "Common Files" folder and deleting things that looked suspicious, I accidentally deleted some kind of file for Apple's many programs that install with iTunes.  I realized my mistake when, at the next reboot, Windows gave me an error that some program could not start due to a missing .dll file and then gave me the program name, which as it turns out was Apple Application Support.  I uninstalled the support program to attempt to correct the issue, but when I did it only broke things further!  iTunes claimed that it could not work without the support software, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes to get the Application Support program back.  Sadly, this did not work either as iTunes did not uninstall correctly, freezing windows explorer.  Then when I downloaded the install file to try again, it gives me an error almost immediately saying "Errors occurred during installation, your system has not been modified.  Run the installer again."  (I'm paraphrasing)  When I run it again, the same thing happens.
In conclusion, it appears that by deleting one simple file, I have broken iTunes permanently and I can no longer use it on my computer.  Ugh.  Can anyone help me get it back?  I can't believe I'm even asking this... I'm not really an apple fan but I do use it to put videos and stuff on my iPad and I have a bunch of playlists in there that I've spent time organizing, so I still use it as my "main" mp3 player.  This is very inconveinent!

Windows gave me an error that some program could not start due to a missing .dll file and then gave me the program name, which as it turns out was Apple Application Support.  I uninstalled the support program to attempt to correct the issue,
Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
