IPad 2 rugged cases

I am looking for a rugged case for my ipad 2 that works well with a invisible shield.  I have already bought some cases and tried them out and took them back because of the water mark on the built in screen protector with the invisible shield.
I have already tried
Griffin Survivor- created water mark with the invisible shield
Gumdrop Drop Tech- Hard to open port covers and created watermark on the invisible shield
Trident Kraken 2- created watermark on invisible shield and the snaps at the top broke off
Ones I have looked at but not officially tried
Otterbox Defender-don't like the dock flap and no cover for the speaker
Trident Aegis- open 30 pin dot connector and not too protective
Maybe I am too picky at the cases.  I am looking for one that will work with the invisible shield or find a way to stop the water marking effect with the screens.
Do you have any other cases you would prefer?  Thanks.

I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

What is the best lightweight iPad Air 2 case that features a swivel hand strap?

I use the i-Blason Smart Cover with Hand Strap. It's the most full function case I have found. It has magnets for the smart cover function, a hand strap as well as a slot for business cards and such.

  • Can one ask for engraving for ipad and its case in retail store or it is just an online feature?

I am wondering if I go to an apple retail store, can I ask for engraving for ipad and its case that I bought there? Or they are doing this only for online purchases.

Many users have found that engraving reduces the resale value of iPads.

  • Does iPad Mini Smart Case easily get dirty?

    Hello :)
I'm totally happy with my smart case, but one question is still interesting for me.
Does the red iPad mini smart case (leather) easily get dirty? (For example: lay on a table, put in school bag etc.)
    Thx for your answers :)

Depends how dirty the table or inside of yours school bag is.
Only dirt that it comes into contact with can be transferred to the smart case. Dirt doesn't just occur.

  • Will ipad mini smart case discolor?

I want to purchase ipad mini smart case but I'm worried if it would wore out and discolor like iphone leather case.
Although it has nice looking, I don't want to spend money on a case that will not last long.
Can anyone tell me their experience?

It's a physical product that will endure wear depending on how you use it. No one but you can say how you will use or abuse the cover. In any case, I would rather have my cover wear than leave my iPad screen unprotected. That said, my iPad cover wore fine for over a year. Then normal signs of aging.

  • Durable/Rugged Case for iPad 2

    Hi everyone!
I'm doing tech support for an elementary school, and the principal recently purchased 6 iPad 2's for use in the classrooms. These iPads will be used by both teachers and students, and I'm wondering what case would be suitable for them to protect from possible falls.
I've seen this one here: http://www.goincase.com/products/detail/magazine-jacket-cl57925 , but I'm not sure if it would be quite durable enough if a student would happen to drop it to the floor.
I have a Smart Cover and an Aviiq cover on the back, but I don't think that would be quite enough to protect an iPad 2 if it's in the hands of a youngster.
Any and all suggestions are welcome. Happy Holidays!
    ~Lyssa

I did A TON of reasearch and I've narrowed down this choice to two options that work perfectly for home, travel and professional use.  I rotate between the two.
    (1) Smart Cover Set Up:  II love my smart cover, but I only had to see a friend drop his iPad once to know the back needed protection.  I didn't want to loose the slim esthetics of the device, so this thin, clear back cover has been perfect.  I've had at least 5 friends buy the same one.

    (2) CrownCase Black Leather:  It is really faux leather, but it works for me.  It is the highest rated case on Amazon and it's as good as advertised.  This case fits perfectly, allows access to all controls, and doesn't impete the speaker.  Love it!

  • What is the best ruggedized iPad mini (Retina) case in terms of heavy duty and protection?

Military grade and extreme protection for my iPad mini (Retina). Doesn't matter how thick and rugged it gets, I am looking for an armor case that offers ultimate protection.

Personally, I like the Heavy Duty Supcase. There are a lot of other options out there but this one is less than $20 and had excellent reviews.

  • Will iPad 2 silicone cases fit new iPad (3rd gen)?

I have preordered the new iPad and would like to have a case ready for it when it arrives next week.  I was looking on eBay and they have soft silicone cases for iPad 2 and I was wondering if they would fit the new iPad.  They have some stretch so I don't think it would be a problem, but I would like to hear some opinions.  Thanks.

I'm a case ho. I try them all. We're talking a 0.6 mm difference in depth. I just looked at a ruler to see how small 0.6 mm really is. Not much.
I'm sure some cases will fit without a hitch. Any case with really tight tolerances will probably have problems. Only time will tell. When My iPad 3 arrives, I've got several cases from the iPad 2 to try out.

  • Removing iPad from otterbox case

In response to an earlier post about removing residue from an iPad screen, I was going to try the warm water on a cloth approach but I can't get the iPad out of the case now:). I have the commuter series I think is what it's called, it's the cheaper of the two otterbox iPad cases. I was going to try to clean my screen but I can't get the iPad out of the case to do it:). If anyone has any instruction on how to remove it I would greatly appreciate it

While I don't have that case, I have the Defender case, I also had an issue like this when I first got my case.
My trouble, and maybe yours, was that I had somehow left some adhesive from the screen sticker on the face of the protector. That had bonded to the case front.
If you suspect this is your problem then I would suggest that you very, very gently warm the case with a hairdryer to loosen the glue. YMMV If you ruin your case, iPad, burn down the house, start a riot or instigate a small war then let it be know it is not my fault. You accept all responsibility on yourself.
But think about it you only have so many options:
    Heat
    Liquid
    Mechanical
all could go wrong and anything could happen. Examine what is going on and see if the above suggestion applies.
Oh and you could just ask the vendor as I have found them to be very helpful and willing to ensure you are happy with their product. I know I am.

  • Why does the iPad Air Smart Case not sit flush?

I bought one today and was immediately disappointed.
When the cover is closed the first 1/3 sections (closest to the hinge) is raised above the screen. When it's fully opened in 'reading' mode, the cover lumps up on the back of the iPad. This makes it uncomfortable to hold in the hand and it's strange this design decision was allowed to make it to a final product. Additionally, when in 'standing' mode for watching video, the folding stand has a tendency to fall on itself every now and then.
Why wasn't it designed so it lies flush in both open and closed mode? I've been using a cheaper 3rd party case for the last 6 months that was better designed. The only difference is the quality of materials. However if I'm paying $100 for an Apple case I expect perfect design, function and quality. It fails in the design and function department. The leather feels nice to touch, but it doesn't compensate for its flaws.
Reading through Apple forums and other review sites, it appears I'm not alone. I haven't made up my mind yet but I'm leaning towards a refund.

The stiffness of the leather hinge is probably what is causing this. I'm assuming that it will get better as time goes on and the leather "breaks-in" from use and becomes more flexible. You can possibly help it along by periodically creasing the hinge manually where it bends, like you'd crease a sheet of paper. You are by all means entitled to a refund so that's your choice & option as well.

  • TS2634 Is the iPad 3 smart case okay to use with the iPad 4?

I just got the newest generation iPad (4th generation iPad) and I want to get the smart case so that it covers the whole iPad. I was reading reviews on amazon and also the title of product was "smart case for iPad 2 and iPad 3". Is that one okay to use for the iPad (4th generation)?

I would assume it will work but the only thing to watch for would be that the Lightning connector would be acessible through the case's opening. Width-wise, the opening should be fine. It would depend more on the alignment front to back of the connector and the case's opening. Even if the Lightning connector is somehow blocked from access with the case, you could still use the cover (remove it to charge the iPad) since the physical dimensions of the 4th gen iPad are the same as the 3rd gen.
