IPad 2 Safari history problem

Hey everyone, I've been trying to read through tons of threads and attempted all sorts of "fixes" with little success. Basically, when I go on Safari and use the address bar, upon typing a letter, previous pages begin to be suggested or autofill I guess.
I have tried the follow:
Clear history
Delete all bookmarks
Clear history on all iCloud devices
Close the safari app and reopen
Power off the device and reopen it
Turn off Safari from iCloud
Turn off iCloud completely
Reset the device from settings using "Erase All Content and Settings"
I really thought that last one would be the solution to my problems, but somehow the stupid suggestions ARE STILL THERE! This doesn't make any sense to me and it's driving me crazy. Some help on the matter would be really appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Anyone? I even have this problem happening on my iPhone 4S now. I did pretty much all the steps listed above minus the resetting of the whole phone as I have much more important stuff on my phone than iPad.

Yes, that problem has been seen by myself and many others. The work-around is to restart Safari.

  • IPad 2 Safari Redirect Problem

Hi everyone! I have an iPad2 and for the last few days I have noticed when I go to a website in safari I keep getting redirected to random ad sites. One of the most common ones is play.google.com/........... I tried clearing cache, history, cookies and that didn't do anything. I have restarted in every way possible, I have restored the iPad with a backup and also without but this problem won't go away!!!!! Can anyone help me out? I have no ideas left!! Any help would be greatly appreciated! This occurs on most websites with not much pattern. I have noticed though that certain websites anyways redirect to the same other websites... Thanks in advance for the help!!

    Hi Nayr0526,
I can confirm being redirected to [https://]play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.spardeals.android when I enter failblog.org in the address bar.
This behavior is new, I was able to browse that site without problems a couple of days ago.
I didn't find any similar postings in other forums so I have no clue what the cause of that issue might be. It seems like a virus.
    I have an iPad3, running a jailbroken iOS 5.0.1
    Anyone having the same issue?
@Nayr0526: Which other urls cause similar problems?
    Greetings,

  • Ipad 2 Safari "A problem occurred with this webpage so it was reloaded"

I have an Ipad 2, running IOS 8.1.3
Lately when I use Safari, almost every webpage I open keeps having the same problem.  It suddenly blanks out and starts reloading.  A message appears across the top of the browser screen that says "A problem occurred with this webpage so it was reloaded."
This happens CONSTANTLY no matter what the web page is...
    Yahoo.
    Youtube.
    My favorite Message Board...
    etc.
Sometimes it happens 4 to 5 times in a row, making it impossible to even read one sentence or scroll down on the page.  Browsing the web on my Ipad has become EXTREMELY annoying because of this (which is one of the primary reasons I even own an Ipad.)
Is there a setting somewhere to fix this?  How about an update?  Any help would be greatly appreciated, as lately I feel like throwing this thing in the garbage every time I try to surf.

I have seen that message but only rarely. I'm not sure what causes it.

  • Safari history problem

I am running Safari 7.1 on an iMac with OS 10.9.5 and my history is not being cleared as I have set up in Safari preferences. I have set up that it should be cleared after 1 day. It's not doing this, but I can clear out the history manually. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
how do you search history ? Unless I am being stupid I can't see a search option.
Click the Bookmarks icon top left side of the Safari window. Under Collections select History.
There's a search field available top right side of that window.
You can disable Autofill from Safari / Preferences / Autofill.
    Carolyn
Thanks, so obvious when you know. It's amazingly well camouflaged, I looked for a search box and couldn't find it. However, not quite sure what it is actually searching, seems to be searching content rather than actual URL - is that right ? I still couldn't find my rogue ftp entry.
Also, Autofill only seems to apply to web forms, not the address bar.

  • IPad mysteriously clearing Safari history

Is it possible for the iPad to mysteriously clear my Safari history without me manually doing it or changing the settings? This morning I woke up to find that my total Safari history was blank. Safari is not set to clear history automatically or after a certain time period.

No it is off, and always has been, It just does it by itself, it stores it for different times, then somehow it just all disappears by itself, just wondering how common this problem is.

Do you mean that you did a soft-reset ?
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History
If that doesn't fix it then try closing Safari via the iPad's multitaskingbar and see if it works when you re-open it :double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the Safari app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
After trying the above you could also do a soft-reset (even if this is what you've already done it might be worth trying after clearing Safari's cache and closing the app via the taskbar) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Restoring safari history on the ipad

My son is deleting his safari history, and I am wondering how to view the safari history after it has been deleted.

There is no way to stop clearing history in Safari/iPad at present.
    Try Kidsafe browsers.
    Best.

  • Safari History on the iPad

How do I restrict my child from deleting the Safari History, he usually deletes the History and then I never know what exacly he is looking at. I don't want to set too many restrictions, and not be as controlling, but would still like to know what pages he looks at. But he always deletes his History. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Where did you see a "Parental Control Settings pane"?
The only parental control that I am aware of is the Restrictions part.
You can - for example - restrict the use of certain apps, installation/deletion of apps, in-app purchases, etc.
You can also restrict the use of certain websites or define your own restricted websites.
If your child wants to visit a certain website, he would have to ask your permission.
BTW, if you restrict Websites > Specific Websites Only = On, then the history cannot be cleared anymore, except by the person who knows the Restrictions passcode. This feature could be of interest to you, but your child would then literally be limited to visit certain websites of your personal choice only.
Anyway, if you don't want to restrict the Clear History function, then I can't think of another solution right now.
Make sure you don't forget your Restrictions passcode, otherwise you have to restore the iPad.

  • Problem with ipad 2 safari cannot download the file for windows live photo gallery

on ipad 2 safari cannot download the file for windows live photo gallery

What you can download via Safari on the iPad is very limited - you can only download apps from the iTunes app store on your computer to sync to the iPad, or from the App Store app directly on the iPad

It means that those fraud website urls are updated so that it can warn you if you try to visit those website.
Try restore from backup using iTunes.
If no joy, restore as new without the backup.

  • Website login fails on iPad 2 Safari after iOS6 Update

    Upgraded to iOS6 9/19/2012.
I just spent half an hour troubleshooting why a site I developed for a client fails its login. Passwords are salted and hashed in Javascript, POSTed to an AJAX PHP page to compare password against stored salted password in database, then user is redirected to where they need to go. This site has always worked on the iPad, which is one of the site's most favored features.
Logging into the site no longer works. I've tested this issue on my PC with no problem using Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera. I've also tested on my iPad 2 using its Chrome and Mercury browsers with no problem.
The problem only occurs on iPad's Safari browser, and just started happening today. The only difference between today and yesterday is the iOS6 upgrade. Therefore, it stands to reason that iOS6 Safari is the problem.
The PHP running in the background that actually compares the user input to the DB credentials no longer matches the hash of the salt/password hash with the nonce. This command in iOS6 Safari gives completely different results than any other browser:
    $rehash = hash("sha512", hash("sha512", $salt . $password) . $nonce);
I have absolutely NO idea why or how this command is affected by a browser. I'm telling you, this only not works on the iPad 2 iOS6 running Safari. I've tried clearing History, cookies and the like, and I get the same thing every time.
I'd like to downgrade back to a previous version of iOS6. It's fine to have my iPhone in iOS6, but I use my iPad for development, and I need to revert back.
    Ideas? Thoughts?
