Ipad 2 says invalid format- sony bravia 32"

Help! Just got an ipad 2.  Tried to connect to my Sony Bravia 32" tv with av adapter from apple.  I plug it in, and it says "invalid format".  I have setup the tv for HDMI input, blah blah, I've tried so many things.  I have contacted Apple, Best Buy, Geek Squad, and Sony.  Apparantly there are not any professionals out there that can figure this out.  Who ever can solve this, I will pay!  Please help!  And after you have helped, please send address of where I can send check.
Thank you!!!!!

I just talked to someone at apple...first we made sure my ipad video settings were for widescreen off nd signal NTSC, which were correct.  Checked connections, checked with an alternate cable, no go.  He would have liked to try another TV with HDMI but we have only one.
So the running theory is that it's a faulty AV cable.  He tried to set up an exchange by mail but was unsuccessful, so the plan is to exchange it at an apple store.
I'll try to remember to updtate this with the results!

  • How do I wirelessly connect my iPad 4 to a Sony Bravia TV?

My Sony Bravia KDL-32W653A recognises that my iPad4 is on my LAN. But I just can't get the iPad content ( videos ) to show up on the TV screen.
The iPad Settings shows the " direct -GC-Bravia" other connection, but it wants to revert to my (John Lewis wireless connection.
If I tap on the other, Bravia panel I am asked for a password. I don't have a password for it and never have had. If I try to use my Apple password or that of my Sony support log-in or even my LAN home group , the iPad just messages:-  "Unable to connect to Diect-GC-Bravia"
I seem to go round in circles and get nowhere- Can anyone out there who has an iPad 4 (retina display AND a Sony Bravia TV help me please?
Maybe even a Sony employee? who owns a similar iPad?
    Davidthebass.

You dont.  Apple won't allow widely used standards and Sony is so behind the times in this area it's painful and almost as bad.  Apple forces you to buy an Apple TV whereas Sony forces you to own an android phone to do this natively.  Surprise!
disappointed I started my smartphone tenure with Apple; had no idea how badly it was going to burn me in about 100 different ways over the years.  All they have on android these days is more efficient hardware...: and since they don't take advantage of it... It's a moot point at the price premium.
as for Sony.  I just spent more than I did on my last car for their flagship and id be satisfied if it costed about 75% less and wasn't a "smart" TV.  Since it is - and this is 2015; the cost coupled with the inability to properly stream or mirror from.... Meh.  Not gonna waste another word.  If neither get it by now, they never will.  Talk with your wallet guys, it's the only language they understand.  Unfortunately they are wise enough to know the sheep outnumber dramatically so it's in vain anyhow.

  • When I click on the converted PDF in my downloads, I receive a message saying'invalid format' Could that be because I use 'Pages' and not 'Word" If so, how can I convey PDF's to Pages?

When I click on the converted PDF n my downloads, I receive a message saying 'invalid file format'.
Could that be because I use Pages and not Word?
If so, how can I convert my PDF's to Pages so I can modify the documents?

    Hi Kathy,
I'm not very familiar with Pages, but I did just read on Apple's website that it does import .docx files. What happens when you open Pages, and then choose File > Open to open the .docx files?

  • Why is my ipad saying 'Invalid Sim'?

I've had my iPad 3 since March 17th - two months - and have enjoyed having 4G LTE cellular service.  I've paired my iPad with a black Kensington bluetooth keyboard, but since the past weekend, two major problems have arisen.
First, I can no longer access cellular service - I get an "Invalid Sim" readout on the top left line of my iPad, rather than the customary 4G LTE that should appear, and normally did.  So, something's wrong there.
Second, right about that same time, my Kensington bluetooth keyboard has gotten glitchy big-time. When I attempt to type a note in Gmail or even the Notes app, whatever letter I hit continues to repeat endlessly.  If I hit the backspace key, the cursor will continue endlessly, deleting all my previousing typing.  Even more oddly, whether or not I turn off the keyboard - and I've tried this both ways - the iPad's onscreen typing is no longer popping up!  This iPad needs some serious help.  Apple...?

    Rudydale-
The on-screen keyboard may not appear when your iPad is paired with an external keyboard.
Can you remove the SIM?  Just removing and re-inserting it may clean up its electrical contacts and make it work.
One other thing you can try is a reset (reboot).  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

  • Digital adapter and invalid format with Sony bravia tv

I recently purchased an iPad 2 and the digital adapter so I can play what's on my ipad2 on the tv.  I have a 26' Sony Bravia tv model kdl-26m4000 and when I hook up the iPad with the digital adapter with a hdmi cable the tv says "invalid format".  I somehow got it to work once but I can't get it to work again. I tried the adapter on another Sony Bravia tv that is 52' and it connects without a problem. I also used it on another Sony tv while on vacation without a problem. Does anyone know why I can't get it to work on my tv. The 52' Sony Bravia tv that it works on is older then my tv so I'm not sure what the problem is. I took the digitl adapter cable back to apple to get a new one and it still doesn't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dsaamgel24-
The mention of VGA was to give you something to look for.  It is not likely that an HDMI port would have that problem!
For purposes of troubleshooting, you might try swapping the HDMI ports.  If both ports work the same with both the iPad and the Blu-Ray, then there is probably nothing you can do to make the iPad work with that TV's HDMI.
Does that TV have any other video inputs?  Apple also has adapters for VGA, Composite and Component Video.  They will not have as high a video quality, but may work.

  • HT4582 hi I have bought an ipad mini which was advertised as unlocked, ipad has signal but says invalid sim, how to I find out what network it is locked to?

hi I have bought an ipad mini wich was advertised as unlocked to any network, when I put nano sim from giff gaff in the ipad says invalid sim, how can I find out what network it is locked to?

There is nothing on the iPad itself that can tell you. Did you buy it from a reputable retailer? You can try asking them.

  • 32 inch LG "Invalid  Format"

Had a Sony TV for a while 26 inch and everything worked great! Until it died. Well went out and got an LG, looks amazing at start up with the apple logo and loading circle and then when it goes to auto login, the screen goes black and says invalid format.
Just to make sure it wasn't my mac or VGA cable, I hooked it up to an old Dell display. Everything was fine.
My next step was to look through the forums. I found that holding shift on startup puts it in safe mode. Well other then the long startup, it was on the same and still went to the black screen.
I also tried starting the computer, then plugging in the display. Still no luck.
is there anything else I can do?
I know it works, because the startup shows. Looks like its just a setting or something that needs to be changed.
    Thank you for the help

Ok, well thanks to my lack of patience, I went out and got the HDMI cable.
The cable you (anyone in this situation) are looking for is sold at walmart for $26. Its made by philips and so far works great. Hooks directly into the port on the mac mini and changes it into a 6 foot HDMI cable. So no more adapter! cheers

  • Invalid Format message-Please Help!

I hooked up a 26" tv monitor to my mini mac tonight. Everything was running great. I went into account settings to try to change the monitor display and make my fonts a little larger to accommodate the new monitor. The computer stopped suddenly and now all I have is a black screen that says "invalid format". Is there a way to reboot and fix this? Please advise!

jen12569 , welcome to Apple Discussions.
I believe your problem was caused by setting the display resolution too low & the LCD won't respond. If zapping PRAM doesn't fix the problem, trash the preference file com.apple.windowserver.plist
Also look at this link. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=267310

  • Invalid Format after updating iOS

I just updated my ATV 2 to the latest version of iOS an now my Plasma says "invalid format" whenever i start the ATV 2. No video, no audio.
Unplugging didn't work exactly. I can see the apple symbol at start-up but then the "invalid format" sign from the TV shows again.
    Can anybody help?
    Cheers!

So you disconnected everything and resotred through iTunes? Hmm, I updated mine and it's working fine. Maybe it is the TV? Maybe try calling support or taking it in and have them check.

  • Sony Bravia 26" "Invalid Format"

When I first hooked my Mac Mini To the Sony Bravia, using the DVI adapter, it worked OK, but when I increased the resolution I get an Invalid Format message, and I can't change it back. I have tried going back and forth, from the Bravia to my Apple display. No matter what I change the Resolution to on my Apple display, when I go back to the Bravia I get the same message.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I suspect the reason your Bravia continues to remain blank despite you tweaking settings when using your Apple display is that the mini is 'remembering' the Bravia and the settings used with it, so reverting to those each time the system boots with it connected.
You could try several things at this point:
1: With the mini connected to the Bravia, boot into safe mode by holding the shift key down during startup. Safe mode may result in the system reverting to a basic resolution, allowing a display on the Bravia, which you can then reset to something you know worked before with it.
2: Boot with the mini connected to the Apple display, then without powering down, disconnect that and connect the Bravia.
3: Boot with no display connected, and wait until sufficient time has passed that you would normally be seeing the desktop, then connect the Bravia. This sometimes forces the system to boot into ultra-low res mode, which may remain after the Bravia is connected, allowing you to reset to a known-good resolution and refresh rate.
4: Boot with the system connected to the Apple display, and then search for file names containing 'windowserver' (no quotes) using the Finder's Find command in the file menu. Depending on which version of MacOS you're using, you may need to set the 'Kind' to 'system files' and then switch 'don't include' to 'include' instead. Drag all instances of windowserver files which end in '.plist' to the trash and then reboot (there may be 1, 2 3, or even 4 such files). These files contain display settings preferences, so will force the system to forget the Bravia. When booting again, it will create new ones but more importantly, since it will no longer remember the Bravia's settings you used, it should give you a working display.

  • Can I connect 2 sony bravia's, a sony home theatre, 2 macbooks, 2 ipads, 3 iphones and a dell laptop and stream media from my apple devices to my tv?

Can I connect 2 sony bravia's, a sony home theatre, 2 macbooks, 2 ipads, 3 iphones and a dell laptop and stream media from my apple devices to my tv? I have a sony bravia 600 series and 700 series and a home theatre( sony 7100 series)

The only way to stream directly to your TV would be if it is an AirPlay-enabled device.
There are many AirPlay-enabled devices but I am not familiar with Sony's products. If yours do not specifically indicate AirPlay capability, then you need an AirPlay-enabled device such as an AppleTV connected to your Sony TV or Sony AVR.

  • How do I fix this my iPad when it says invalid sim?

What can I do for my iPad when it says invalid sim at the top and I can't connect to internet?

You will need to try to restore your iDevice from the same computer that you most recently synced to.
    Read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If you can't do the restore then you will need to try Recovery Mode.

  • Bravia invalid format

I'm running an atv2 though an aton switch and sending it to five tvs. All work fine except a 40 in Bravia, which breaks up and gives an "invalid format" error. It will display 720p from other sources without a problem and is rated for all hd formats. There are no resolution settings on the tv so nothing to try there. Have done reset and power cycle on the atv with no luck. Have connected the same signal to a different tv and it works fine, so it appears to be the tv. Any thoughts?

Try connecting it directly to the TV to see if it's an incompatibility with the AppleTV, or something the switch is introducing into the equation.
