IPad 2 sound problems

I no longer get sounds ( alerts, keyboard, FaceTime rings,etc.). I have voice, so the overall sound works. Any ideas?

I assume that they are still switched on in Settings > General > Sounds. Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • My Ipad Sound problem

I am also experiencing sound problem since the last iOS update.  Mine is the iPad 2 and I had good sounds up until the last update ~ now I get mixed terrible sound with strong radio parasite type of sound. The side mute button not working at all. Sounds on all app, music YouTube alerts etc very  mixed and terrible.  I tried all resetting ways  and it didn't help either.  VERY frustrating!  As a lifetime Apple user I think this needs to be addressed.

thank you philly for your answer

they dont gurantee or warrent any I device that is not purchased from them although it have an international warrenty and  i still have warrenty on my IPad, i only bought it 2 months ago

  • Ipad sound problem (super low volume)

Hi guys can you please help me with my problem. Earlier last year i posted that i have a speaker problem.. At first i thought the sounds had totally disappear, but there came a time that it came back for a while but whenever i press the volume up button it disappears again.. After that i thought it disappeared again for good. Until this day i saw a video in youtube that says that it didn't disappear it just went down (meaning the volume of the speaker just went down to almost silent). I hear tiny sounds in my speaker but i cant get it to volume up even though my volume bar is max. Can someone help me.

  • Ipad sound problem

the unit is not producing any sounds other than those from the iPod application.
no alerts no notifications at all.
I used the earphone jack and the bluetooth connection, teh same result, only iPod sounds.
A hard reset had been performed, restored to unit from iTunes and still no sounds.
    Any ideas please?
    Cheers,
    Ahmad

If you are on iOS 4.2 then is the notification mute switch (the old rotation lock on the right hand side) 'on' ? Rotation lock is a software function on the taskbar in 4.2 and the switch mutes notifications e.g. so that you can watch videos or listen to music without hearing email notifications etc. Rotation lock : double-click the home button, sllide from the left, and its the button far left; press home again to exit the taskbar; repeat to switch off rotation lock.
If you are on iOS 4.3 then the switch can be configured in Settings > General to either be rotation lock or notification mute.

  • Sound Problems on iPad: how to fix, easy [video]

    Hi dear iPad user,
Most people will, eventually, have sound problems: the cause can be complex as a 'miss-behaved' app that messes the sound engine or as simple as the iPad being forgotten on Mute/Volume Down.
I used to help family and friends to fix their iPads' sound problems by sending them 'text' instruction steps... lots of times they ended up calling me on the phone...
    So I made a video (short: 1m40s):
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjBP-Ncj_fE
    It shows:
how to unmute the sound (even if the side-switch locks the rotation of the screen)
    how to put volume up
how to close all the apps (in the case there is an App messing with the sound system)
how to reboot the iPad (ultimatelly fixes hard cases of messed sound system)
What it won't fix: if you have a hardware problem...
If you do all the steps and you get NO SOUND AT ALL, please, try also checking if you car listen sounds using a HEADPHONE (you know are working conditions). If you can listen to sounds in the headphone but no sound at all in the iPad's built in speaker, well, there might be a hardware problem and you should look for help on an Apple Retail Store or other official technical support available at your location.
    Hope this helps!
    Everson.

UPDATE: fixing iPad Sound after iOS 7
    http://youtu.be/SDf1LDcE95Q
    (1min 36sec)
    It covers the basics:
    checking side-switch / mute / "Control Center"
    volume all up
    ...and also the worst cases:
closing all apps (for rare cases when a single app might render the sound system instable)
    rebooting the iPad
So, don't get desparete: try the things in the video.
There are people who reported having forgotten an audio-bluetooth connection activated with a turned-off sound-system or speakers... or forgot Air-Play turned on... so be sure you disengage bluetooth and/or airplay.
On the 'hardware side', dirty dock connector (30 pin) can make the iPad 'think' it is connected to external audio - if so, cleaning it with a dry toothbrush can fix. Also, moisture in the headphones connector can make the iPad switch to 'headphones' even without headphones connected, making it silent: check if you can hear things with headphones plugged in - if so, try gently inserting and removing headphones a few times and check if you get sound back to iPad's speakers alone.
Good luck to everybody! Audio problems are quite common - fontunately they are easy to fix.

  • Sound problem in ipad

I have IPAD 2. When  I play sound, it halts like stuttering. If I put an earphone there is a ticking sound. I rebooted but to no avail. I sent the right key to look screen. Nothing changes. any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Abdi

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.
     Cheers, Tom

What sound problem - no sound on anything, no sound on some apps ?
Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. And for future info typing in all capitals is considered to be SHOUTING

  • IPad Sound Not Working, Volume High, Ringer On?

Well, this has been going on for a while now but my iPad sound just doesn't work! On YouTube the sound does work however, the ringer doesn't work anymore and out of nowhere even the application sound effects, etc. have stopped working! I'm trying to detect whether this is a hardware or software problem and by the looks of it it's hardware. Is there any other way I can tell?

    1. Double-click the Home button and swipe Task Bar to the right
    2. Check the volume and mute settings

  • HOW DO I FIX SOUND PROBLEMS ON MY IPOD  TOUCH?

How do i fix sound problems on my ipod touch?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • IPad sound is gone, when not using earphones

    Hello,
I know there are similar posts as this one, but none have worked for me and there is a little piece that is a bit different here. I have an iPad 1
When earphones are in there is no issue, all works fine.
    There is no sound
The button on the slider for the volume is gone
If an app is running when the iPad is sleeping, the moment I turn it on I can hear the music or backtround sounds for about one second and then there is nothing.
    Thank you

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.
