IPad 2 to hp laserjet p1102w via airprint.

I wish to print to my hp laserjet p1102w, but my ipad says no airprint printers are available. I am on wifi and everything else works. The hp is working fine.

There are two issues to make this work. One, as you have discussed, you need to upgrade the firmware so the printer is truely ready to handle AirPrint. But there's a second issue that I'm stuck on. How do you get the printer on the wireless network? If you have a wireless router that supports WPS, it's apparently easy, but Apple's routers don't support WPS because it is not considered to be a secure network protocol, despite claims to the contrary.
Apple supports WPA2, which rocks in terms of wireless security, but each device that connects needs to provide the WPA2 password in order to join the network, and guess what? Printers don't have an interface through which you can send a password. My Nintendo Wii does. My iPad does. My iPod Touch Does. All my Macs do, but my wireless printer doesn't.
So, my wireless printer is connected via Ethernet to my Apple Time Capsule and it prints fine from all my Macs, but no go for AirPrint from my iOS5 devices.
<sad face>
And buying a newer printer wouldn't help because none of them connect to WPA2 networks.
<sad face>
So, if you CAN print at home via AirPrint, you might as well prepare yourself to have your wireless network hacked by your teenaged neighbor. It's only a matter of time.

  • HP Laserjet p1102w and airprint

i have a HP Laserjet p1102w (which supports airprint), it's on the same wifi network as my ipad2 ( os 5.0.1), however whenever i try to print from my ipad, it says no printer found, any suggestions?

Seems long to me, but itmwould, depend on the size ofmthe update, network speed, yada yada.  I am tryingnto remember the steps, when i did mine, and i just cant.  At some point you probably have to turn the printer off, so it can reboot.  When it looks like it is done, it should, say so on the panel.
Worst case, when you are tired of waiting, reboot the printer, and see if it now shows up on your padmwhen you try to print.  If not, simply trymthe firmware update again.

  • LaserJet P1102w: HTML Config page errors out

I was using my LaserJet P1102w via wireless fine, until my wireless router died. When I replaced it, I tried to set up the printer on the new network but I get an error when I try to open the "HTML Config ..." utility. The page itself won't load.
I've printed the config page on the printer, and it says it has an IP address, but it still thinks it's connected to the old network. Is there a way to reset the printer itself?

    Hi,
Be sure to restore the Wireless Radio firs by turning the printer on while holding both the Wireless and Cancel buttons.. keep the buttons pressed till the lights between them start blinking.
Next try usin HTML Config again and check for any difference.
If the same persists, try clearing the browser history by clicking on Safari > Reset Safari.
Be sure to remove any existing caches and cookies.
Quit Safari to ensure it takes effect, then try alunching HTML Config once again.
    Hope that helps,

  • I am trying to configure an iPad to print via Airprint to a HP Laserjet Pro CP1225mw printer and are having problems

Currently I am able to print to the printer via Airprint but because the iPad has a priority of Wi-Fi over 3G, when I want to browse the Internet at the same time via the iPad's 3G connection it will not which makes it hard to print pages from websites. I have the option of adding the printer to the internal wireless network for the organization but I am trying to avoid it as iOS-based devices get constantly prompted for username and password when trying to authenticate HTTPS connections and this may prove an irritation for the user that is going to get this printer. Also I want to restrict who can access this printer as it is mean for use for one specific person in the organization.

Some printers support adhoc networks.  This would keep it off your corporate net.  Of course, I haven't tried this.
    For example HP D110.

  • AirPrint with Laserjet p1102w doesn't work

Ok, just bought the laserjet p1102w and got it to work wirelessly with my MacBook Pro. The printer USB is connected to my AirPort Extreme. I installed the latest driver so that AirPrint would work (based on another previous post), but my iPad 3 and iPhone 4S are unable to find any AirPrint printers!
Not sure what to do now. I thought it would be easier than this. Help!

To work with iOS your printer needs to be on the network and not connected to the base station via USB.
    There's more information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Many of the p1102's also need a firmware update.

  • Airprint unable to find HP Laserjet 1536dnf via Zyxel P-660HN-F1z

Airprint is very disappointed. I recently baught *HP Laserjet 1536dnf* *which Apple and HP says it is Airprint enabled* only to find that it doesn't work. And I think both Apple and HP may blame it on Zyxel but the one who is frustrating is a customer like me. If anyone can help me ... please.
    _Here's my configurarition._
Device: Macbook pro, HP Pavilion, iPhone 3GS (iOS4.3), iPad 1 (iOS4.3)
Printer: HP LaserJet 1536dnf (latest firmware 20101125)
    Router: ZyXel P-660HN-F1z (latest firmware Version: 3.70(BJI.4) | 03/22/2010)
Network Setting: All are in the same network 192.168.1.x
    _Here's my problems._
Printer works fine with notebooks (wired) but not iPhone and iPad (wireless). I have tried many settings and after rebooting my router and printer I will occasionally be able to print from either iPhone or iPad but never from both. Most of the time, iPhone and iPad show "unable to find printer"
    _My tests were._
    - Update all device to latest firmware
    - Reseting router and printer
    - Deactivate my firewall
    - Setting my printer to a fixed IP
    - Setting log in my router (and I don't understand it!)
    - etc
    None of them works.
I guess I may have to do something like openning port for Banjour or some apple services on my router but I really don't know what to do or how to do it.
I'd appreciate if anyone can help or *share the router setting* that works for your airprint.

Though I cannot really understand your language, I guess it'd be the same that I just found out today. Anyway, thanks to DaniSan77.
    In summary,
    1) I reset my Zyxel router to make sure that I didn't make any unnecessary changes. (you may try below first before reseting yours).
    2) Under Zyxel menu Network > LAN > Advance Setup, I change the Multicast to IGMP-V3. This time I leave other fields untouched, so  RIP direction is set to None and RIP version is N/A.
    3) Under menu Wireless LAN > Advance Setup, I uncheck the IGMP Snooping.
    4) Turn on my HP printer and reboot both iPhone and iPad
Now I can print normally from mac and pc and also print from iphone and ipad via AirPrint.

  • I can't get my HP laserjet p1102w to work with airprint

    Hi!
So it seem's that I can't get my HP laserjet p1102w to work with airprint. I got it to send out it's own Wi-Fi signal, and i get in touch with that signal on my iPad 3. But when I wan't to print something out from Pages, then it says that it can't find any airprinters.
I tried to update the firmware several times, but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions to what I can do?

    Hey T-racer,
As a work-around you can also use the HP eprint method which is available with your printer. The application (HP Home & Biz) is available for free in the apple catalogue.
You can find more info on it here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03128518&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en &product=4110396&tmp_track_link=ot_search
It shares many of the same capabilities of airprint but is a different program/feature.
If you have any questions, just ask!

  • I'm trying to connect my iPad to my HP Laserjet P1102w so I can print. How do I do it?

How do I connect my iPad to print from my HP Laserjet P1102w?

The Printer Manual offers an airPrint section, but does not say whether every model of the 1100 series supports AirPrint or not
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01695231
Assuming it does, you need to connect your printer to the same wireless network your iPad is connected to.
Once that is done, you will need to find the action icon ()in any App you want to print from, and then tap on the Print option.  Then you can tap on "Select Printer", and wait for the iPad to find the Printer. Once it does you can select it, and print to it.

  • How to use an iPad 2 for web search (via 3G only) while using AirPrint via Airoprt express wifi (NOT connected to the internet)

Heres the setup: I have an IOS 7 iPad 2 that I want to use 3G only for web searches/ emails while using an Airport Express generated wifi bubble (without any connected internett) to print web seraches via airprint to a wifi printer.
The problem: the ipad deafults to searching via the AE's wifi and vainly waits for the non existent interent to connect. It ignores the available 3G internet.
The workaround: a) turn off the AE's wifi, search the web via 3G b) once I have something to print, turn the wifi back on and print via airprint and the AE's wifi to the printer.
The question: Is there a way to turn off the AE's internet access. Using Airport utility, I have tried setting Bridge mode and static IPs to no avail. There is no turn-the-internet-off tick box.
In the ideal setup I would like the ipad 2 to search the web via 3G only (straight away versus waiting vainly for the AE to find it!!) and then print the results via the AE's wifi and airprint without having to toggle wifi on and off all the time.....
    Thanks in advance,

  • Print via Airprint with iPad 3 and Canon MG5350

    Hi,
I have a very common problem but none of the so far provided answers were suitable to help me. I use a new Canon MG5350 printer with WLAN and Airprint. The firmware has been updated to version 2 and nevertheless I cannot print via Airprint from my iPad 3 WiFi. My iPhone 4 finds the Canon printer without problems but the iPad keeps saying "No Airprint printers found".
Who can help? As I said, I have updated the printer's firmware.
    Cheers
    Frank

Hi Frank, I too have an MG5350 and ipad3 over wireless LAN. Printer is ace when used from my PC and laptop but got the same as you did trying to print from ipad. Tried Canon UK support but useless would be a compliment. Apple support in Cork suggested going to ipad settings, switch to airplane mode which stops wifi and then switch back again, wifi reconnnects and when I try and print, it finds the MG5350 and prints! Only one problem, leave it and come back after half hour and its back to "no airprint printers found" Doing the wifi on /off trick works everytime but have no answer as to why it is dropping it but still searching.
    Hope this helps a bit.

  • HP LaserJet P1102w Not Working with Mac when connected via USB

I'm using an old HP LaserJet P1102w - I installed the drivers and the software, and when I connect to my computer, nothing happens. It recognizes the printer, and it says that it's using "Generic PCL Printer" as the driver. The Print Queue has a good time pretending it printed things, and nothing comes out.
Someone tell me how to fix this POS before I throw it out a window.

    Hi oprachck,
I see by your post you are having some issues printing from the Mac. I can help you, but I will need some more information.
The driver  "Generic PCL Printer", wouldn't be the correct driver using the Laserjet P1102w.
If you are using 10.8 or 10.9, the drivers are installed by the Apple Updates.
OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac.
If you are using 10.7 or lower the drivers can be downloaded from this link.
HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer Drivers.
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen should show the name.
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.

  • HP LaserJet P1102w prints EXTREMELY slow over Wi-Fi

I've been struggling with this problem for a long time, but today this totally freaked me out. I was ready to throw away this piece of ..printer! Problem is simple. When I'm trying to print wirelessly something with graphics (jpeg pictures or photos) from my iPhone, iPad iOS 8.4 or MacBook OS X 10.10 Yosemite, it takes forever! Word document, PDF, from Preview or other programs - same result! I just couldn't pring 9 page document today, after 20 minutes I gave up. What's happening. Let's say I'm using mac. Print task goes to printer queue, as usual. After that, this task shows in queue as "connecting to printer", green light starts blinking on printer, as usual. This is taking a minute or two, that's what unusual. After that, "starting printing page 1". It can take 1, 2, 3 minutes... forever! Next, either ONE page actually prints (for 5-7 minute mark at this point) and it takes same time to print page two and so on, or (likely) it will spit out unfinished page (only couple of inches printed and the rest of the page is blank) and show an error, orange light blinking. UGH!!! I gave up on iPhone/iPad long time ago, since they can't show print queue and therefore it's unpredictable result. You can wait 10 minutes for your document, then leave, and later on just find the document printed when you no longer need it (or half of the document). I do not have this problem when printing just text, emails, simple confirmation pages from safari and so on. Only when printing document with graphics or heavy pdf. I do not have this problem when connecting printer via USB (discovered this today). Now what really bugs me, it's the fact that I was actually able to print heavy PDF from Windows machine with no problem, wirelessly (I did have problem printing exact same document from my mac). WHAT IS GOING ON?! I've googled this problem and found that I'm not alone. I've updated all software and firmware, I've tried to reset everything - NO DICE! This is really very frustrating. I was thinking this is because of small memory of the printer, but why it works perfectly via USB then? Anyway, this is a cry from the heart. Please help. The printer is good, but unusabe in some situations.

Hello ! Welcome to the HP Community.I hope you have a pleasant experience here! I'd like to help you with the slow printing that you are experiencing when printing images to your HP LaserJet P1102w wirelessly from your Apple devices. Thank you so much for the detailed description. Since the printer is able to print fine wirelessly from the windows machine, we know that the issue is not with the printer or the communication. The fact that none of the Apple devices are able to print images wirelessly without it being really slow, leads me to beleive it may be an Issue with the AirPrint driver or Bonjour protocol that your Apple devices use to communicate the information. Picture files are much larger, and a lot more data needs to be transmitted, so it is normal for them to take longer to print than a regular text document. However, if there is a marked difference in speed between the Windows computer and the Apple devices, then the issue is likely not just that the files are larger. I'd like to get you to make sure the printer is installed with the correct driver on your Mac. (Because there is no full feature HP software available for Mac 10.10 the operating system will often default to the AirPrint driver) Click the Apple icon on your Menu Bar.Select System Preferences.Select Printers and Scanners.Select your printer and then press the (-) button at the bottom of the list to remove it.Select the (+) and click Add Printers and Scanners. (NOTE: Do not select the printer from the list of Nearby printers as this will often automatically use the AirPrint driver)Select your printer (the one that shows Bonjour Multifunction under "Kind").At the bottom of the window under Use: does it say AirPrint? If so, click the drop down and you should see a specific driver for the printer. Click Add.Try printing an image again, and let me know the result. If this works to resolve the issue, then I would suggest downloading the HP ePrint app on your iPhone and iPad to print. It may be an incompatibilty issue between the AirPrint on your Apple devices and your router. I look forward to hearing back from you, and working towards a resolution for this issue.

  • Just upgraded to mountain lion and my HP Laserjet p1102W won't connect

Just upgraded to mountain lion and my HP Laserjet p1102W to print (worked fine via USB with Snow Leopard; I never had set it up wirelessly, though had wanted to do so.)  HP site said if printer worked with Snow Leopard nothing would need to be done; update of drivers would be automatic within Mountain Lion upgrade.  No such luck.  My Macbook Pro and HP Printer are not talking to each other.  HELP, please!
    I have a Macbook pro.
When I tried to print, I was told to get new drivers from HP.  HP site says what I wrote above, that I need do nothing if printer worked with Snow Leapord.  Also read that a new HP Laserjet would need to be connected only via Airprint.  So, I have deleted the printer from the print queue, thinking that might help, but I can't find how to install it via Airprint??  After deleting the printer and having no luck with connecting wirelessly, I tried plugging in USB from printer to MacBook pro, too, thinking maybe that would help, but there is no recognition at all.
    What am I missing???
    Thanks!

That's wrong. AirPrint is not just for iOS devices. Since HP doesn't provide drivers for this printer, they say to use AirPrint:
