IPad 2 to iMac sync hanging up on step 3, corrupted app

I have tried several times to sync my iPad 2 to my iMac OS X, 10.7.5, but in all instances, it hangs up at step 3.  I have totally shut down and restarted both devices.
Based upon similar questions in the community, I suspect (but obviously am not certain) the issue is related to an app I attempted to download last night.  The app, Chimani Yosemite, I believe is quite large, and it did not function once installed on my iPad.  Troubleshooting on the Chimani website revealed the following remedy:  "On poor/weak WiFi or Internet connections, the database for the app can get corrupted during download. To resolve the problem, delete the app from your device and from iTunes on your computer. Then go to the App Store and re-install it."  I deleted the icon for the corrupted app from my iPad and then attempted to delete the app from iTunes on my iMac as instructed.  However, the app is not on my iMac because I have not synced the devices.  (I do not sync automatically.)  Therefore, I attempted to sync to get the app on my iMac so I could delete it, but the sync would not complete.  When I go to the App Store, it shows I already own the app in the cloud, but when I reinstall on my iPad, I am only reinstalling the corrupted app that does not work.
Assuming the corrupted app is the reason my devices won't sync, how can I remove the app so that I can sync?  If the app is not the issue, then what do I need to do to resolve this issue?
I appreciate any help you can provide!

You would need to backup your data to iTunes or iCloud and then restore from backup on the iPad 3. Content should reside on your computer or you can reload apps from the cloud. I don't believe you can just restore one app

  • My iPhone won't sync pictures with iPad and iMac

I have an Imac, an iPad (18 months) and an iphone 4S (2months). All are set up identically with syncing photoes. The Ipad and iMac sync fine, but any pictures I take with the iphone will not sync automatically. Photo stream and sharing is set up on all of them. My husbands iphone is 2 1/2 years old and we have the same problem with that. I am an artist therefore have become dependent on the syncing. Can anyone help

Hei Alfred, I set them all up to do the same thing in settings. Ie, using the same icloud account, switching on the icloud account for photos, my photo stream is on, so is photo sharing. The imac and ipad have functioned well all the time. The iphone is newer.  I made sure that the iphone had the same settings for photos as the ipad, but no photos have ever gone automatically into icloud from the iphone. I have always had to do it manually. It is the same with my husbands phone and he has had it much longer. He isn't so computer literate, but I'm beginning to doubt myself now!

  • Had to reset Ipad to factory settings, now Ipad won't sync to Itunes and apps that aren't factory installed will not open. Is there anything I can do?

    Hi,
I hope someone can help. There was something wrong with my Ipad so I had to reset it back to the factory settings. Now the Ipad won't sync to Itunes and only factory installed apps will open. Does this mean that this Ipad is DOA and it is time for a new one? Or is there anything else I can do?  It is a 1st generation Ipad.
Thanks for the help in advance.

if all that does not work you can always try to do a recovery mode restore back to factory settings and then set it up as a new device then try to redownlaod every thing again

  • How do i sync my iPad's NOTES in to my iMac?Please tell me step by step thx.

How do i sync my iPad's NOTES in to my iMac?  Please tell me step by step thx.

First, you should be running an iMac with OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion.
On your iPad, go into Settings, iCloud, and turn on the Notes slider.
On your iMac, go into System Preferences, iCloud, and turn on the Notes slider.
From there, you should have your Notes syncing between the two devices.

  • Syncing iPad iPhone iMac with Google Calendar, everything you want to know

Ok Guys, I just spent the last 4 hours going nuts with experimentations, trials and errors, and I finally think I figured it out, so bear with me here because it's not that simple. And excuse me for the poor english, I'm from Brazil.
Ok, in the iMac you're gonna set up a CalDAV account with your google login/password. It will work flawlessly and you won't have any problems, it will always update the google calendar and be updated by it. Just remember to use CMD+R to refresh it whenever you want, so you don't have to wait the 15 minutes or whatever you set in preferences.
Now let's talk iPad and iPhone. First of all, you have 2 options to sync calendars with Google, you can use protocol CalDAV or protocol Exchange.
Google's setup instructions for CalDAV (both iPhone and iPad) is here: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=151674
The instructions for both iPhone and iPad for Exchange is here:
    http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740
(just be sure to select calendar only, cause I'm assuming you're using IMAP or other protocol for mail and contacts).
The main difference between CalDAV and Exchange is that Exchange supports push updates, wich is instant, while with CalDAV you have to fetch manually (every time you open the calendar app) or another time setting (like 15 min, one hour, etc).
Well, my experiences revealed that the iPhone and the iPad will sync flawlessly with Google Calendar and the iMac, without any problems, BUT as long as you use Exchange AND Push to update the calendars (CalDAV doesn't support Push, and you need Push so the iPad sync works).
Let me repeat that: IF and ONLY IF you have BOTH Exchange protocol configured and PUSH enabled iPad and iPhone will sync flawlessly. But many people (me included) dont want to use push because a) it has a battery hit b) they don't need instant updates c) it consumes cellular data when you're not on Wifi, and if you don't have an unlimited plan that's not good.
So, if you TURN OFF PUSH with Exchange sync, the iPad will stop syncing properly. Curiously, the iPhone will continue syncing properly.
What I discovered is that, on the iPad, doesn't matter if you use CalDAV or Exchange, the moment you turn OFF push notifications it won't sync manually anymore. And by that I mean that with push off the iPad will not refresh calendar data when you open the calendar app (as it should since push is off and manual fetch is selected).
To sum it up, I discovred that with push OFF in both the iPad and the iPhone (either with Exchange or CalDAV):
    - The iPhone will update both google calendar and the iMac;
    - The iphone will be updated by both google calendar and the iMac and events created in the iPad;
    - The iPad will NOT be updated when you open the calendar app, so it won't see any changes made either on the iPhone, iPad or Google Calendar, but when you create new events in the iPad you will see the data icon spinning so it will send that event to the other 3, but it will not recieve anything.
On macrumors forum people discovered that on the iPad, if you open your calendar, close it, change settings from manually fetch to 15 minutes or whatever, it will sync the next time you open your calendar. But it's unreliable (doesn't work every time), not to mention that you won't want to do that every time you need to sync your calendar !
What about the iPhone ? Well, in my experiences I found out that it doesn't matter if you use Exchange OR CalDAV, it will manually sync with push off every time you open the calendar app. Just a sidenote: the iPhone wasn't manually refreshing with push off as well, just like the iPad, but as soon as I rebooted it started to sync manually every single time and it has been so far. But the iPad didn't sync manually every time even after I rebooted it.
To end it all, how to know if the calendar is manually syncing with Push OFF ? Well, just open the calendar app and after 5 seconds you should see the data spinning logo right next to the 3G or Wifi icon in the status bar. It must happen EVERY time you open the calendar app (you don't even need to force quit the calendar app for it to happen, it must happen every time you hit home and then open the calendar again). If it's not spinning (recieving data) 5 seconds after you opened the calendar app, it's not manually syncing, so on the iPhone you should reboot and on the iPad there's no fix I found so far (besides the unreliable fix of chaning the fetch time like I said before).
Oh, I did all these tests with an iPhone 3GS running iOS4 (don't complain it's not 4.2.1, cause the iPhone IS working, the problem is with the iPad), and an iPad running 4.2.1.
I just hope this thread gets attention because It almost drove me nuts to figure out all these things.
    Cheers,
    Felipe Raul

An update: I am seeing the CalDAV account sync more frequently than the 15 minute interval I have Fetch set to, sometimes as soon as 5-6 minutes. This is however going in/out of the calendar app multiple times... Every once in a which it will update.
I've found no pattern as to what triggers the sync. It doesn't seem to matter if I go into another app or not, or whether I close out the calendar app from the task menu. It's just totally random.
You might say, "what's wrong with just letting it fetch every 15 minutes as it is schedule to do?" Well, most of the time this would be ok, but there are occasionally moments when a decision must be made and an up-to-the-minute current accurate calendar is required for this to happen.
At this point, I'm going to have to keep my priority/vital calendars syncing via Exchange/push, and use CalDAV/push for the less vital calendars and at least have control over calendar colors with those.
Also, just wanted to mention that all the above testing has been over a stable wifi connection, rather than 3G or Edge, in case it makes a difference. (I don't think it does.)

  • My ipad mail is synced to my iMac mail account. On iPad, I can only see my inbox and sent messages. I can't see any of the folders I have created on my iMac. How do I do that? Probably a dumb question, but I know there's a lot of smart people out there!

My iPad mail is synced to my private email account, which I organise on my iMac. On iPad, I can only see inbox and sent messages folders, not any of the other folders in my email account I have created on my iMac. How do I get iPad to show my other folders? Probably a dumb question, but I know there's a lot of smart people out there.

If you select a mailbox, you should get an Edit button (easier to see in landscape mode). Clicking the button will provide you with check circles for the messages. You also get Delete and Move buttons at the bottom. Check the messages you want to move and then navigate to the mailbox you want to drop them into. I think as long as you can navigate to a mailbox you can move the messages to it.
In the Mac Mail application and probably Outlook on the Windows side, you also setup rules to move messages to specific mailboxes. If the mailboxes are stored on the server, then you can have the sorting done on the server and they should appear that way on the iPad. If your later messages do not show up, you may need to have the iPad app pulled down more messages until they are all showing.

  • How many ipads can i sync to one iMac?

I am a teacher and our ESL team is considering getting 4-5 iPads for our students and we are wondering how many iPads can we sync to one iMac?  I thought it could be potentially much easlier to sync all 5 iPads to one iMac and use this one iMac and its iTunes as our sync station since I am planning on having our team all use pretty much all the same apps with our students...is this possible?

    Hi mstaum,
Yes, they can all sync to the same iTunes library. The key is the AppleID that you will be using. Are you planning on using the same AppleID and iCloud account for all users? If so, then you will want to be sure to set up the Restrictions on each iPad to require a Password for purchases immediately, so you can prevent the students from purchasing other apps on the credit card you are using for the iTunes account....
    Hope this helps!

  • Calendar does not sync from IPad to IMac

  • HT1212 Hi i did the steps to restor my ipad (whech not sync befor) but after a while it says connot restore pecause it's locked? what i can do please??

Hi i did the steps for restor my locked ipad (whech not sync befor) but after a while it says connot restore pecause it's locked? what i can do please help?

You have to force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

  • Syncing iPad with iMac

I want to sync my ipad with my new  imac in order to copy all my carefuly comleted contacts from imac to ipad. When I connect ipad to imac the info button in itunes on the imac does not exist so I cannot sync. My ipad is synced with my old pc without difficulty.

    Hello, shells hip.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I see you have a new iMac and assume that it is running Mavericks.  With Mavericks the only way to sync information via the Info tab would be to use iCloud.  Here is some information that will walk you through the process of using iCloud.
If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.
