IPad 2 Touchscreen Malfunctioning

My iPad 2 Touchscreen suddenly stopped responding to touch completely. I had not recently updated any software, and all the buttons still work. Even after Restoring, the Touchscreen isn't functioning. Any advice?

Have you tried resetting it? HOld down the sleep and home keys, past the red power down slider, and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that helps. It won't hurt the device. I'ts just like 'control/alt/delete' on a computer

  • My iPad mini touchscreen won't work and the screen is stuck on Choose A Wifi Network....Can Somebody Please Help Me

MY Ipad Mini Touchscreen Is Not Responding. It Won't Let Me Type In My Password When I Tried It Then Said That It Was Disabled For 1 Minute. Then I Tried It Again It Said Disabled For 5 Minutes. then I Tried To Reset It, I've Tried Recovery Mode NOTHING! Now The Screen Is Stuck On Choose a Wifi Network...Can Someone Help Me Please

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • IPad Mini Touchscreen

I just updated my iPad Mini to 6.1 or something, just for the bug fixes. Now, my touch screen is messed up. I can slide and click on apps, but once I'm in the app, I can still slide but I can't click on anything. Before any tells be to reboot, I already tried that.

    Hi, Marki1120.
I would recommend closing any open applications in multitasking and restarting the device.  If unfamiliar with multitasking, I have included a screenshot on how to process an application close.
After testing the results and if the issue persists, try the steps in the articles below.

  • Ipad 3 Touchscreen is not responding.

My New Ipad's (Ipad 3) touchscreen is not working. after reloading Ipad it suddenly worked, but then failed again. Also my smartcover works very strange: when the screen is covered-it's not locked, it's just going to the 'search' on the homescreen. I bought this ipad in US, but now I live in Ukraine so it's impossible to apply for replacement. Also I've tried to restore - nothing helps.

Remove the Smart Cover first. The reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If the screen responds - blame it on something funky going on with the cover.
Then go to Settings>General>iPad Cover Lock and check to make sure the settings are correct. Put the cover back on and then see what happens.

  • IPad touchscreen malfunctioning

I recently updated my iPad mini to iOS 7, and everything was going fine until a few days ago. I was on Safari and the touchscreen began responding to something other than my touch. It randomly clicks links and scrolls up and down without me touching the screen. In addition, the left side of the screen is completely unresponsive to my touch. This was not just isolated to Safari, as everywhere on the iPad has the same issue with phantom touches and an uresponsive left side of the screen. This has continued for around four days, and I have tried closing apps, restarting the iPad, and even a full system restore. Despite everything I have tried, the touchcreen still seems to be having issues. I was wondering if there is anything else I could try, or if I should just send the device back to Apple.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jon

  • IPad 3 touchscreen not working

I have an iPad 3 with iOS8 on it and my touchscreen is not responding after my daughter played with it.  I tried to reset through iTunes, but I need to respond on the iPad to allow it to work.  Since the touchscreen is not responding this won't work.  The other buttons still work (i.e., home screen, side volume).  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • TS3274 My iPad mini touchscreen starts okay, but after awhile it stops responding

When using my touchscreen on my iPad Mini, sometimes it displays multiple copies of the same characters - even though I've only touched one of the keys - zooms in and out of the screen of its' own free will and jumps from one web page to another - without me touching anything,
This fault seems to happen only after a while of being used and pressing the 'home' button and the 'sleep' switch at the same time for 10 seconds, temporarily resolves the problem, but doesn't cure it.

    If the above doesn't work:
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Reset All Settings does not delete anything, all it does is take most of the iPad's settings back to default (with the exception of accounts setting, and maybe a couple other things.) It is perfectly safe.
The only inconvenience is that you have to go back through almost all your settings and set them to your preference.

  • IPad 2 touchscreen calibration is off - How to fix?

I use my iPad 2 a lot to draw and I have noticed an area of the touchscreen where the sensitivity is not precise anymore.
There is a vertical area where even if I try to draw 45 degrees lines the ipad does a ripple.
I have documented the problem in two different apps (links to screen grabs):
    Autodesk's Sketchbook
    Infinite Sketchpad
I have visited the Berlin Apple store today and the Apple Genius told me to do a software reset and proposed to subsitute my iPad at the usual rates. I have tried to demonstrate the problem, but alas Apple will look only at software problems inside Apple's own applications and the problem does not interfere with the functioning of touch intensive apps such as Apple Maps for instance. It happens only in drawing apps.
I have followed all the steps indicated in the Support Article about touchscreen troubleshooting
I wonder if there is a way to recalibrate the screen and I am looking for the expert opinion of the members of this community. Should I pay to get a refurb unit? Do you see any other way to fix this?

There have been some known issues with iOS 6 and exsisting routers such as netgear, might want to check your router for a firmware update. Also some things you can try on the iPad is to reset network settings, Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings, once your iPad reboots attempt to connect again and see if the issues still persist, also i would recommend powering off your modem and router for 30 seconds or so and powering them back on. No content or information will actually be lost during these steps. let me know how it works out for you.

  • IPAD 2 touchscreen problems

    Help please,
In the last week or so my ipad2 has suddenly been acting funny on the touchscreen. When I touch something on the screen like a folder or an app they dont open but another app from the top right or top left of the screen will open. When I use the keyboard this happens with the letters and numbers, when I press 'P' a 'Q' or 'R' show up and when I press delete it types a load of letters across the screen. When I switch it off and restart it sometimes I cant swipe it to open the screen for my pin.
I dont know if this is software or hardware, I was considering replacing my touchscreen but thought ask for advice first.

    Hey mrwatson1978,
Thanks for the question, I can definitely see why you would be concerned with this unexpected behavior. To isolate the issue further, and determine if it is indeed hardware related, try the steps in this article:

If your device is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, try the following steps:
    1. Restart your device
              - Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
              - If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
    3. Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
    4. If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see the Service FAQ for your product.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
