IPad 2 tv show only playing audio

I recently purchased an episode of The Walking Dead for my iPad 2. It took a while to download, but finally finished. The problem is, when I play the video, it just plays audio and shows the picture of TWD for about a minute then stops all together.

My iPad 2 is doing the exact same thing. However my iPhone 4 does it correctly and watched TV shows or movies are removed from the device on sync as it should. After perusing the other similar articles on these forums it is obvious that the iPad is not capable of doing this. Another Apple "feature" that everyone seems to overlook when the praise is heaped. Get it right Apple! - 2nd generation of the device and it's still not fixed....

It all depends on the codec the file uses, Karli.
What model of camcorder is this video coming from?
Are you working on a Mac or a PC? Have you got the latest version of Quicktime, per the program requirements? When you started your project, did you select the settings for a DSLR at 720p? This is a vital step since it will activate the components your computer will need to work with many of these types of files.

Video only playing audio

On my PC (Windows7 and ITunes10.6), my music videos only play audio. It did play both video and audio, but currenly only audio is working. Any advise is appreciated.

I am having the same problem. Last night during a long call using headphones, suddenly I could not be heard, but I could hear the person I was talking to. I did not try the speaker. This morning with out the headphone twice I placed a call and heard no ringing, but the call did connect as I was told they got the call, but no one was there. I just reset the phone and will see what happens. I was thinking of going to the Apple store were I got the phone, but if they are going to ship it off rather than exchnage it, that is a no go for me at this point.

Should be able to go into your sound preferences and choose your output device, you can also try downloading Airfoil and try that, it's a pretty cool app.

And When i double click the video files in the editing program, another window pops up named: Source:Sequence 01. But the window Program:Sequence 01 Has a Red screen on it! But the file clearly works so i have no idea what to do.

Pink Floyd documentary from iTunes only plays audio on iPad?

I downloaded the new remastered version of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and it included a documentary called "Behind the Wall." The video plays fine on my iMac and on my iPhone, but on my iPad 2, it only plays the audio.
I tried hitting "command-i" so i could switch the tag from "Music Video" to "TV show" to see if that worked, but that option is greyed out and i cannot change it from being a music video.
I sync everything through iCloud and iTunes Match, if that matters.

Duh, never mind. On my iPhone, the documentary shows up and plays under my "Music". On the iPad, it also shows up under "Music" but i can only play the audio. But if i tap my "Videos" button and look under the "Music Videos" tab, the documentary plays fine. User error, to be sure. But also a bit of interface oddity, that the doc plays fine under Music on my iPhone but not on my iPad....

Changed TV out to off but ipod still only plays audio and no video

Just recently my ipod decided not to play video. All the videos in the video folders are gone and now appear in the music folder. Even the video podcasts no longer appear in the video podcast folder. I have changed the TV to out to off and still it continues to do the same thing. I am not sure what happened, I don't believe I changed any settings or anything. I would hate to reset the ipod and lose everything. Need help, thanks.

It plays fine on my other pc, but I only get audio and no video when I open it on this pc. It shows up like static lines on a tv that has bad reception.
Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect.

Airplay only plays audio - video is black screen with subtitles

On my 5th generation IPOD Touch, after downloading a movie from Itunes, I only see audio. The video is all black, with subtitls only.
After many attemts to fix this - i.e. reboot Apple TV, Reboot TV, Reboot IPod touch, Reboot WIFI Router, I still saw this problem.
This is with IOS 7.01. Has anyone seen this problem? So annoying and frustrating!

Why do my old QT files only play audio on QT X on Lion system

I have some old NTSC (DV/DVCPRO) videos that play well on my old Leopard system but on my new Lion Macbook Pro, only the audio will play. The video will play from within Finder but when I double click and it launches QT, QT behaves as if its only an audio file. This is true when I try to import into Final Cut X. Final Cut shows it as an audio file BUT 2 of the files DO show video. These are all 720x480 video dumps. So 7 files show as audio files and 2 work correctly. And all work fine under Quicktime 7.7 under Leopard 10.5.8.

Please disregard this posting. I took the old file and ran it thru compressor in a 422 format and now everything works fine and only took about 10 minutes per hour of video. I don't know how to cancel a request and I'm really pressed for time. Thank you.

MP4's tagged as music video only play audio + static picture?

Hi everyone,
Is it normal that MP4 files, that have been tagged as Music Video (Itunes Media Type), only show a static image on playback instead of a moving image.
I assumed that a music video would show the video too. Hence the tag name "Music VIDEO"
So at this point, I'm looking at a still image. Audio plays fine though.

This same exact thing happened to me just recently. My videos played fine since I got my iPod in December and now they just play audio and are organized in with my "music" menu. I've looked around and a lot of people seem to have this happening to them also, but no one has had a real solution that I've found. I think it may have something to do with an iTunes update since the problem happened after I updated.

i have an iPod video and iTunes on an hp running windows xp. when i download a tv show, it downloads fine, but it only plays the audio, not the visual of the tv show. it does the same for podcast(idk if podcast's are supposed to have video). i was wondering how to fix this. Thank You

Have you installed any third-party QuickTime codecs (such as DivX) or iTunes enhancers or plugins since your videos last worked? If so, try removing them and see if matters improve. If not, or you haven't installed any third-party items, you might try uninstalling and reinstalling QuickTime. You can get the download from the QuickTime tab above; just select the option to download without iTunes.
Caution: as with any significant software installation, it's wise to make a backup of your important documents - in this case your purchased tracks and videos - before attempting the installation, just in case something would happen to go wrong.
