Ipad 2 unresponsive

Hello,
My Ipad 2 just became entirely unresponsive. I've had it for only a couple months, and yesterday updated the software for the first time since I got it.
It had plenty of power left when I left it last (this morning) and now won't respond to anything. When I plugged it into my computer, itunes said it had an error in trying to connect to the ipad, and wouldn't recognize ("iTunes could not connect to the iPad [my ipad name] because an invalid response was received from the device.
The home, power, and volume/ mute buttons all do nothing. The screens stays off and black.
Any ideas/advice??
Thanks,
-Abe

    Hi gav55,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want to use your iMac to restore your iPad, but the iPad is unresponsive.
If you have restarted the iPad but the behavior continues, try to reset it next:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

If the touchscreen is completely unresponsive, the advice in this article may also be helpful:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1827
If the iPad continues to be unresponsive, you may need to place the device in recovery mode before restoring it:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • IPad screen unresponsive with boxes around icons????

OK so I was browsing some photos in my iPad (Current Gen) on the 500px photo app. The app became unresponsive and was missing buttoms normally there, so I clicked the home button and got to the home screen. Once I did this, I was unable to scroll between my home screens. Every time I touch the screen, a rectangular box appears the app nearest to where I am touching. If I touch an app, it will not open, I can barely get in to settings. I plugged in to itunes and did a restore but it did the same thing. I powered it off and on a few times and the same things happens. When I touch the slide to unlock, a rectangular box displays around the slide to unlock and it takes several swipes before responding. This rectanuglar box floats around and it takes 20 clicks to get in to settings. Any idea whats going on and why I cant fix this? I am running 5.1.1

If VoiceOver is on and you want to turn it off from the device instead of from iTunes, remember that a double-tap acts like a single tap and you need to use three fingers to scroll when VoiceOver is on:
    Press Home.
    Tap Settings. Then double-tap Settings.
    Tap General. Then double-tap General.
Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility.
    Tap Accessibility. Then double-tap Accessibility.
    Tap VoiceOver. Then double-tap VoiceOver.
Tap "On" next to VoiceOver. Then double-tap "On" to turn it off.

  • IPad 1 unresponsive after installing iOS 5?

Not even a week ago, I downloaded the new iOS 5 for my ipad 1. At first it was fine, but after a bit of usage, it would suddenly turn itself off or restart for no reason. Eventually it kept happening more frequently and more quickly. Now it won't turn on at all, it doesn't register in my itunes when i try to sync it to my computer, it is unresponsive when i charge it and it doesn't respond when I attempt a hard restart. I'm pretty sure it's due to iOS 5 because it only started happening after I installed it, so what should I do to fix it? It's still under AppleCare warranty, should I go instore?

I had the same problem and was ready to throw It in the trash. Last night I erased my iPad and set it up as new iPad instead of restoring. I didn't turn on iCloud until after I deleted my iCloud backup and turned off contact syncing with it. Since then it hasn't crashed and it has had about 4 hours of use. 5.0.1 didn't have an effect on it. Just happy I got my iPad back!

  • TS3274 the touchscreen on my iPad is unresponsive.

The touchscreen is completely unresponsive. It is still giving me alrets and ringing for facetime but I am unable to access any of my aps or even scroll between pages. When I press the reset button on the corner, Im not able to slide the red box in order to fully shut down the iPad. Any suggestions?

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • My iPad is unresponsive

My iPad is frozen or unresponsive. How do i reactivate it?

Try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Ipad screen unresponsive even after a reset and reloading of the IOS.

Anyone else had this problem after the warranty runs out?  What dud Apple do to repair?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • Ipad completely unresponsive

I went to get the new ios running today and hit a problem. itunes synced to my device just fine and I proceeded to download/backup for an hour or so but when itunes started to prepare my ipad for the goods, the ipad switched off and I got a, "New hardware detected" or "Apple recovery mode?" pop up. I installed/updated the drivers and whatnot so I don't get the "New hardware detected" or "Apple recovery mode?" anymore. Instead I just get nothing as the I pad wont show up in itunes. The I pad itself didn't just turn off, it went completely unresponsive. It will not: respond to a charge, turn on, or 'reset'. An attempt to plug into different usb does nothing. I wonder why.

I am not sure if your problem is the same as mine was; but my iPad wouldn't turn on or charge or anything either. The solution I found was to plug in to charge; hold the home button and the power button for approx. 15 seconds. Mine started up just fine and has worked perfect since then.

  • IPAD completely unresponsive!!! Help!!!

I just plugged my ipad into a docking station linked to my tv. Done this many times no problem. However when i took it out a few hours later (didn't use it in the meantime) it was dead, i cannot get any response from it, plugged it in, no charge, nothing. Any advice?

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. Happened to me once, about 6 months ago, and a reset got it working again.

  • IPad mini unresponsive since update

JJust downloaded newest iOS update. No problem with iPad 4, iPod, or iPad mini wifi. But iPad mini with wifi & cellular is completely stuck in visual of connector moving to iTunes. Can't restart. Completely unusable. I am submitting on other mini.

    Hello fulkerstone,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that after updating your iPad mini, all you see on the display of the iPad is the Connect to iTunes graphic. In this situation, I would recommend using recovery mode to restore the iPad mini. Please use the attached article for more information about this process.

    Hello, Sharonwilson1506.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would need more information regarding any restore errors received, computer OS and clarification on what you mean by unable to restore to provide a better answer.  However, here are some basic troubleshooting articles that have some helpful steps you can try.

  • IPad 2 unresponsive except DFU mode, iTunes won't restore

Let me preface: the steps to resolve the issue I have provided on the Apple website did not work, please do not suggest them.
Yesterday I received my replacement iPad 2 in a brand new sealed box after about a month of waiting and shipment issues.  Out of the box, it worked.  Plugged into itunes, restored from backup, registered, and then... dead.  Screen does not display anything for any reason and the device will not respond to anything except entering DFU mode while connected to iTunes.
    What I have tried:
    uninstall/reinstall iTunes 10.3.1
    switched USB cords and ports
    revert to iTunes 10.2.2
leave plugged into wall charger overnight
switched wall charger with known good charger and known good iphone charger
    downloaded differnet .ipsw files
    used two different computers
I am using an iPad 2 64gb 3GATT and MacBook Pro, all running latest software
After multiple attempts at all of the above, I have had no success getting the iPad to function.  The closest I get is to enter DFU and tell iTunes to restore.  After about 5 minutes, it says iPad cannot be restored (error 1601)[yes I've read the support articles, all of them, and tried everything].  The only other message I get is when trying to use an older .ipsw, to which iTunes says iPad is not eligible for this software, or something to the same effect.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what the problem might be, or knows a way to force a restore, preferably with a third party application, please let me know.  I am taking it to the Apple store to see the glorified support article readers this evening, but I really don't want to undergo another replacement process that will take another three weeks.
    Thanks

    Dear jaredfromsewanee,
I received my iPad 2 days ago, and I just went to try and restore my iPad 2. Same problem with me, its stuck on a black screen with no Apple logo. I also get error message 1601 trying to restore to 4.3.3 from 4.3.3. I'm worried my iPad may be 'bricked' and I don't have a receipt because I won this iPad from a competition..
Also I'm running a windows machine, with iTunes up to date and I'm stressing so bad and I hope I can still salvage this thing!! Goodluck mate!!
