IPad 2 upgrade to iOS 8 causing performance issues?

I upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS 8 and it's now no longer functioning quickly enough to be usable. For example, it takes several seconds for the screen to simply shift from portrait to landscape. The delay in typing alone makes it unusable. Anyone else having the same problem? I tried to reinstall iOS 7 but wasn't successful. Anyone figure out how to fix this?

(Same issue happening to my iPad.... plus....when apps are opened they take too long too load up, at times there is a black screen, not just blank, but a black coloured screen. Than after waiting for it to open, after a few minutes of using the app (any app) or if I put my iPad to sleep to go do something else and go back to the app it is frozen and can not be used... so I must close it, so either by four finger swipe up or double clicking the home button and closing app and reopening it to work. This happens while reading emails as well. What about iCloud account not working, rejecting the password that works on an iPhone but not on the iPad! Annoying! Has anyone escalated these problems so that the Apple people do something about it. My iPad also gets real hot...this has been happening from the first time I purchased it, this has not stopped it still heats up, I have called and spoken to apple about it, around 3 or 4 times, but they keep saying its normal, but it's not...other friends that have iPads, and I have quite a few friends who do have an iPad, their iPads do not heat up like mine, and we would be at same meeting using our iPads! HELP US APPLE....)
Forgot to mention....multitasking gestures stop working...and that wifi gets disconnected on iPad to many times a day. the list is growing!! I think Apple is trying to get us to buy new iPada or iPhones, if they can add U2 album to your music list, then can do anything! I wonder....if we should all go get a windows based computer! iPad 2, Since upgrading to iOS 8.0.2 the cellular signal indicates I do not have a SIM card. Monday spent hours on the phone with Apple support, backed up my iPad, reset all settings, reloaded my iPad and it still tells me I don't have a SIM card. Tuesday went to AT&T and got a new SIM card on the advice of apple support. It worked perfect until this morning and the NO SIM CARD notice reappeared. Never ever had any problem until the upgrade. I find it inexcusable that Apple refuses to address the issues they caused, iOS 8.0.2 is the Ebola of iPad 2 world. I dont have any cellular service after wasting two days trying to address and fix a problem Apple is responsible for. It's obvious Steve Jobs is no longer running the company. Furious & fustrated. How does Apple expect anyone who uses an iPad 2 for work, to remain a customer who will return to their products?

HT4623 I have a 1st gen iPad. Upgrade to iOS 6.1.1 appeared, but it quit shortly into it and now I am being told that all software is up to date at 5.1.1! Synced iPad to the iMac and it also says the iPad is up to date. What gives?

Just what I said, my iPad 2 upgraded to IOS 5.0.1 from IOS 5 on last week, the built in microphone is not working anymore, I can't record the video with sound, and called my friends with Facetime, they can't heard my voice. Then I already restored IOS 5.0.1 for a few time and built in microphone is still not working. Does anyone iPad 2 has the same issue after using IOS 5.0.1? And anyone can help me to fix this? Thx.

I've read other posts about this, and while it seems an odd coincidence, you likely have a faulty microphone. On the right hand side you'll see similar posts. The majority of people who all of the sudden had mic's that wouldn't work after updating, wound up getting their iPads replaced at the Genius Bar at their local Apple Store. You could try rebotting, by pressing and holding BOTH the home and power buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go fo both buttons and your iPad will restart. If that doesn't work, I would not recommend restoring. Instead, make an appointment at the Apple Store and if found defective it will be replaced. Do remember to create a backup before going. It will make setting up a new device exactly as you had it, much much simpler.

Try to connect your iphone in computer, in itune restore the iphone as a new one. (it worked for me)
Or delete your contacts app from iphone and sync again.

IOS 8.1+ Performance Issue

Hello,
I encountered a serious performance bug in Adobe Air iOS application on devices running iOS 8.1 or later. Approximately in 1-2 minutes fps drops to 7 or lower without interacting with the app. This is very noticeable in the app. The app looks like frozen for about 0.5 seconds. The bug doesn't appear on every session.
Devices tested: iPad Mini iOS 8.1.1, iPhone 6 iOS 8.2. iPod Touch 4 iOS 6 is working correctly.
Air SDK versions: 15 and 17 tested.
I can track the bug using Adobe Scout. There is a noticeable spike on frame time 1.16. Framerate drops to 7.0. The App spends much time on function Runtime overhead. Sometimes the top activity is Running AS3 attached to frame or Waiting For Next Frame instead of Runtime overhead.
The bug can be reproduced on an empty application having a one bitmap on stage. Open the app and wait for two minutes and the bug should appear. If not, just close and relaunch the app.

I just can't send a new message from scratch to a non iOS user :-s

In an index table, if there are a lot of insert then data will grow and/or if the index is
huge then can it really cause performance issue?
Is there a document in metalink that says if index is 50% of data then we have to rebuild it? What are the basis and threshold of rebuilding index?

A big index by itself won't cause a performance issue. There are other circumstances you should consider for the index.
First of all, which kind of index are you talking about, there are several kind of indexes in Oracle. On the other hand, assuming you are talking about a regular B*Tree index, you should consider factors such as selectivity and cardinality. If the indexed column has evenly distributed values, then the index will be highly selective, and if the indexed column is highly skewed, in order for the index not to become a real bottleneck you should gather histograms, so selectivity can be calculated at execution time and in case the query retrieves a highly selective data range the index won't slow performance, otherwise a full table scan will be considered a best data access path.
Rebuilding indexes is an operation performed when the index becomes invalid, or when migrating the index to a new tablespace, but not when you suspect the index has become 'fragmented' in this case you should use the Coalesce command. Oracle provides efficient algorithms to maintain the index balanced.

Why can I transfer my movies to my ipad after upgrading to iOS 7.

Hi have an ipad 2 which has always worked great, until I upgraded to iOS 7 and now I can't transfer my movies to the ipad from iTunes.
I have restored my ipad to factory settings and have tried copying movies and still no joy. To make the matter even more annoying I have tried to contact apple support and I need to pay a £25 charge as I am out of warranty for a problem that apple have caused.
Any ideas how to rectify this?

That's a very helpful description of the problem and now. I wish I could be as helpful in return. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about syncing home movies or personal videos. I have synced several of my own, but it always went without issue.
Some basic things that I can think of are ....
Where are the movies residing in iTunes on your computer? If they have been imported into the movies library then they should appear in the Videos app when you sync. If they were imported into the photos folder, they could be in the photos app, but I assume that you checked that already.
You did say this was a new problem so can I assume that the movies were appearing in the videos app?
I have read where some users reclassified videos in order to get them to sync. After using the Get Info command in iTunes, they would classify a video as a TV show for example in order to get to sync. Forgive my ignorance on this, but like I said, I have very limited experience with this and I am trying to recall exactly what the process was.
If nothing else, my comments will bump your post up again and hopefully somebody that knows what they are talking about will chime in.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

I did not say it was 3 years old, I said it was ALMOST 3 years old. 2 years seven months is closer to 3 years that your estimated "less than 2"
More to the point, less than 3 years support for a $700 tablet is criminal & steeling from the public. We should complain & loudly. We the consumers have made Apple what it is.
When the tech industry moves as fast as it does, 3 years is quite long. Show me any device that receives updates past 3 years any device I dare you. And no a PC is not a valid comparison, because it does not recieve updates. the OS does. And a 3 year old PC that could barely run Windows XP for example is not going to be able to Run Windows 8.
The iPad 1 no longer has the hardware necessarry to support the new iOS. But again that does not mean it automatically stops functioning. Or cannot be taken in for a check if there is something wrong with it. If you still have Apple Care on it, it is totally covered. Just because it did not get a recent update does not mean its junk now.
Many people still run an iPad with iOS 3.2 just fine. that's 2 updates they could not care less about. Why suddenly eveyrbody moaning because the latest one can't be applied? Running iOs 5.1.1 should give it at least another year of functional life where it can still download appliations and work perfectly fine.
Again the iPad does not cease functioning because the update can't be applied. It still works just as it did before.
I will never buy another iPad, period.
Good for you, you'll never buy another mobile device ever either, if you keep expecting support for long periods of time. If everybody ss rotten as you say, what exactly are you expecting to buy then? Do you think Apple is going to miss your business. there are literally millions of people happy with their purchases with Apple and with other Manufacturers
And just for the record, I neither work for Apple nor think that everything they do is great. Just like I can point the flaws in Android or Microsoft so can I point them out in Apple. And they do have many falws.

Installing iTunes on my iPad after upgrading to IOS 7

I Recently upgraded my iPad and iPhone to IOS 7 but battle to use iTunes. The app on my device says iTunes Store; I don't seem to have an option to import my existing library from laptop. If I ask for installing link I see. Page asking if I am interested in iTunes for Mac or Windows but I please need simple instructions to download the operating iTunes. Hi there, thanks to discussion replies I have made some iCloud progress. The iTunes library now appears on both iPhone and iPad, only some of them has an iCloud icon next to it.
Those without the icon is not playing.
These are legit tunes originally downloaded from CD's I still own.
my laptop went through 3 steps, gathering information, matching songs and upgrading artwork and remaining songs.
Why are some songs in iCloud and the majority not?
Is there any other way to import those directly from the laptop itunes to iPad?

Iphone Games low res on iPad since upgrading to IOS 5

Hi All,
I noticed something very weird on my iPad 2 since upgrading to IOS 5. I have several iPhone games that I play on a regular basis and just up size them for the iPad. On IOS 4 when I started them up they intially started up in a low resolution mode but within 10 seconds or so switched to what I think was "retina display" resolution which looked WAY WAY better on the iPad. Since upgrading to IOS 5 they no longer do this. They stay in low resolution mode and look fairly bad now. I am so disappointed. Is anyone else seeing this?

I'm seeing this same exact issue.
I started up one of my games and it defaulted to 1x post updating to iOS 5. When I expand it to 2x, the game looks horrible to the point where the text is almost unreadable. While it had some pixelation prior to this, it was no where nearly as bad as it is now.
I've been looking through Settings and so far, I've not found anything to fix this issue. I can handle a game looking a little "off" due to the display size difference. I can't handle it looking like it's running in 8 bit mode though. For the money I've spent on this iPad, I am not please by this at all.
