Ipad 2 went black

hi, my ipad 2 went black, when i using safari..but it has back light on. i tried reboot with home and sleep key,  and it didn't work. still black without white apple logo!! help!!

Eddie-
Try connecting the iPad to its wall charger for half an hour to be sure it has enough juice to get started.  Then try the reboot again.
If it still does not respond, your iPad may be defective.  I suggest you take it to an Apple Store Genius.  If their diagnostics show it to be defective, you should get a new one on the spot.

When I went to install an update, my iPad went black and shows a picture of a power source next to an iTune emblem.  I powered it off but when I power it back on, it shows the same thing.

    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.

    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...

  • Ipad went black

My IPad went black and I can't get it to turn back on.

    Danielle,
Quite simply hold down on the sleep button and the home button at the same time and wait until the Apple logo appears and the iPad completely reboots. Don't release the buttons until the IPad has totally started up again.
This does cure a lot of minor issues if you start to notice erratic behavior with your device.

  • My iPad went black

My iPad screen went black and it won't come back on.  It is fully charged.

My screen went black. you can see a dark blue color on the screen and sometimes blue streaks go across it but thats all. I've tried pushing both buttons at same time and sometimes the apple logo comes on for a minute but thats all. Occasionally an image will come on for a split second and then nothing.
Best buy was no help and they seemed like I was bothering them since my warranty had expired. I've had the iPad for only 3 years. Are they not designed to last longer? I refuse to spend another 700.00
Maybe its time for a Samsung.

  • Screen on iPad went black/gray any suggestions as to what to do? I have already restored it and it didnt make it better.

I haven't dropped it or anything recently so I don't know what could have caused this.  I have never had this problem before. I am unable to get to a store for another week. Any other suggestions would be great!

  • My mini ipad just went black? can't turn it off or anything

my ipad mini just went black, no nothing, just a blank screen.
    what do i do?

If there is nothing showing on the iPad's screen, then assuming that its battery isn't empty then have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo will hopefully appear and it will boot up - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

The following is how to do a proper reset of an iDevice:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

I have several thousand photos in several folders. I have noticed that whenever I want to change the folder used as the side show source, it takes the Screen Saver Preference pane a very long time to respond. It is as if it is scanning all the photos in the currently assigned folder in order to display them in the preview window provided, and it gets so dogged down doing that it can't respond to my clicks on the Choose Folder option.
Assuming you don't want to redistribute your photos into a greater number of folders or subfolders so there would be fewer in each folder to process, you could try a workaround. Try moving your currently-assigned folder to your desktop temporarily, before opening the Screen Saver preference pane. If the preference pane can't find the old folder, it may immediately ask you to choose a new one. You could hopefully then do so, close the preference pane, and then put back the old folder.
It's my understanding that there will be no future updates to Tiger, only security fixes.

My 13 month old Ipad 2 screen went black while sitting on the table.  NO drops or damage.  Tried both reboots, synced with itunes (it was there, fully charged) and rest to factory settings.  still no screen.  now the store wants to charge me a minimum of $80 just to look at it.  Any ideas?

Found this thread by searching the forum. I hope it helps.

  • My iPad 2 screen went black

Last night, the screen on my iPad 2 went black. At first I thought it was because it froze up. The music that I was listenting to was still playing so I decided to let it continue to play to let the battery run down. I plugged it in this morning to charge and the screen doesn't come up. How do I fix this?

Plug it into the wall charger for at least an hour.
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
