IPad 2 went in Recovery Mode and I don't want to lose my data
Well, hello.
I have a big problem with my iPad2. From the begining: I wanted to update the iOS to 7.1.2. The progress bar appeared and I left it like that. When I returned, it showed me that I have to connect the device to iTunes. When I did this, it said that I have to restore it. The big problem is that I don't have any back-up of my iPad. I had, but my old laptop broke and I can't open it anymore. So I got a new laptop (Windows 8) and never connected the iPad to it, only now, when it is in Recovery Mode and... I tried to hold the Home+Wake up button both pressed in the same time, but still no change: the Apple logo appears only for a few seconds and it goes back to the Recovery Mode screen. I also downloaded TinyUmbrella from here: http://tinyumbrella.en.lo4d.com/ but nothing happened (it appeared something like TinyUmbrella: Verifying libraries, reticualting something). I also contacted the service in my country, but they said that nothing can be done, I have to restore it and, by this, erase all the data on it. Please, is there any way in which I can save the data? I'm more than desparate
Yes, I know... I discovered now that I have saved the photos I wanted from it long time ago (for the same reasons, i didn't wanted to lose them). So I'm kind of saved. Also it has been like crap because the laptop where I had my backups is as dead as can be. That was the moment when I panicked. From now on... I'll back-up it everyday. Thank you a lot!

How do I get out of recovery mode, that my ipod touch suddenly went into, after updating last night? It does not recognize my ipod anymore and I don't want to restore it back to factory conditions. I have tons of things on the ipod and don't want to lose them! Is there any other way to get out of this 'recovery mode'??
No. You have to restore. To allow the restore try the following:
- A reset.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Manually placing the iPod in Recovery Mode
- Placing the iPod in DFU mode.

- If you can't turn the iPod off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. -

If this program will not get it out of recovery mode (very doubtful) you will have to restore and erase the iPod.

Help! My iPod is corrupted and i don't want to lose my data.
When i connect my iPod to PC its screen normally shows "do not disconnect" and it's charging, but when iTunes starts it only reports: "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting iPod." i tried reconnecting iPod many times, rebooting system even reinsalling iTunes but with no effect. When i try to open iPod disc from My Computer it only says that: "this disc is not formatted, would you like to format it now?"
I just don't know what to do... Is there any chances i can fix this problem some other way that using the "restore" option in iTunes and losing all my data? Some of them are priceless to me. Please help.
Athlon XP 1700+ Windows XP ProGenerally, if you need to Restore, the data is pretty much gone on the iPod.
ve got there some important data which i don't want to lose
And since this data is important, you do have it on the computer and backed up on CD/DVD also, correct? -
In updating my iphone 5 for the new software ios6. An error occurred and now is asking me to restore settings. But I don't want torestore setting causing not all of my recent data has been synced and I don't want to lose my data. How can I undo this since i did not hit restore settings, yet i can't do any other move without restoring at this point. Any ideas?
You phone is in recovery mode. Your data is already gone.
Why you would attempt a software upgrade without backing up all your data first is beyond me, but to each his own.
In any case, sorry for your data loss. -

I went into recovery mode - and keep receiving error 4005 - tried different usb, computers, did all updates possible nothing helps, my iphone screen shows apple logo and constant waiting circle
Same here. I tried to update my iPhone 5S and iPad 4 to 7.1 but iTunes wiped out them. This thing already happened for iOS 7.0.6 update. What happened to Apple? I am really curious whether Apple is aware of this problem.

IPad went into recovery mode by itself during/after ios7 update. help please.
My ipad went into recovery mode during or after the ios7 update. i forgot to back up my files and now i need the notes from it. i am unsure if they are syncd to my gmail but i am not syncd to icloud. is there anyway to get my files back?
i have tried using all sorts of programs like redsn0w and tinyumbrella to try and kick it out of recovery mode. But every time i try and get out it just loops back to the itunes and cable logo. is there anyway i can get out without restoring and or losing the files inside the ipad. or is there a way to access the files while in recovery mode. thanks in advance or the help.I have experienced a similar error with the iPhone 4S. The new version of iTunes will not let me restore the phone, it must be updated and nothing appears to be happening. Suffice it to say I am not amused. Apple needs to work this out - I had trouble updating to 8.0.2 as well.
