Ipad 2 won't charge after ios 7.0.3 update

After the ios 7.0.3 update, I had to restore my ipad2. Now, it won't charge. I have tried different plugs and outlets. I have also reset it and restored it, again. Nothing worked. Has anyone had this problem and any luck fixing it?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. My iPad won't charge after plugging into my computer and after holding down the power and home button at same time for 10 seconds… Can anybody help? Has IOS7.0 but not the most up-to-date version

It's just the battery sign - nothing else. I've tried to reboot by holding down both power and home key for 10+ seconds, waiting for the apple logo - but nothing happens. It's plugged into the imac at the moment. I tried to recharge it overnight using the normal charger - but no luck. It went dead during a Skype call with a friend - even though it was powered into the mains - albeit at a low battery level at the time

  • Ipad won't charge after upgrade to 7.1.2

Apple recommened install update.  After the update started having problem battery won't charge.  I took it to the apple store last July 13 they did hard reset it work for one day and went back to the same problem won't charge.  Please help

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good. If your computer/iTunes does not recognize the iPad, then the cable is probably bad.
Try this first -  Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • My iPad 4 Won't Charge after iOS 7.0.3 "Upgrade"

After upgrading operating system as requested by Apple, my iPad will no longer charge. It won't charge from USB, it won't charge from Apple branded wall mounted charger and it won't charge from either source with one of two Apple branded sync cables I have tried. Both the cables and both sources of power work fine with my iPod Classic.
The iPad now has no power at all, so no form of two button re-set will work.
I have to say I am a REALLY disappointed customer.

    Hi,
From what you have said two things may have happened:
    1) There is a glitch in iOS 7 meaning it does not recognise any chargers.
    2) During the upgrade progress, the internal battery or the internal charger broke in your iPad.
    Hope this helps!

  • HT4060 iPad 2 not charging after iOS 7 update

    Hello all,
After updating to the new iOS my ipad is not charging at all... I did atatch it to a phillips dock and noticed that it did not charge for some reason, then I tried it's own cable and no luck.
Now I tried to charge it though my MacBook usb cable and all I am getting is the red line on the battery sign but does not seem as it is charging....
Any tips on how to fix this?? I recently read that with the new iOS Apple is blocking fake cables and I am worried that the dock had something to do with it?
I am absolutelly sure it's cos of the new iOS unfortunately I dont have enough batterry to install an upgrade and hope that would fix it, I am always on 1-2%.
Thanks for all your thoughts and comments you might have!

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Then see if the battery will charge.
For charging to a wall outlet, only use the power adapter and cable that can with your iPad.

  • IPad 2 battery drain after iOS 5.0.1 update!!!

iPad 2 battery is draining way too fast after the 5.0.1 update - I've lost over 10% just browsing the apple site over wifi for about 10 minutes - with no other apps running. NOT ACCEPTABLE APPLE!!!
Same issue with my iPhone 4 that went from 62% when I went to bed last night to completely dead this morning - unused!!
Apple - roll 5.0 back out to replace this battery leech. I need to be able to actually USE my products.

    Shirley 123 wrote:
Same issue here! I've been reading on my fully-charged iPad and the battery is down to 78%. Never did this before the latest update. Yesterday, iPad quit before my usual evening reading!  Any solutions!
I have personally seen the problem and corrected it on numerous models now including the 4S, 4, 3GS and iPad 2s.  Corrupt system level settings created by an iOS 5 bug in the original release that caused battery recalibration issues, etc.  Just installing the update does not fix the issue in most cases (sometime it initially can be worse).  You need to clear out those settings and recalibate the battery.  For those still having the "standby battery drain" issue follow the procedure below in order.  It does fix the problem in most cases.
Go through these steps to address the battery after updating to iOS 5.0.1:
    1. Reset all settings (settings app-> general-> reset)
    2. Go through initial setup steps (lang, wifi, siri, enable location, etc) and choose setup as new phone (don't worry your apps, data, contacts, mail will still be there). At this point, Do NOT restore from iCloud or iTunes (It can copy back corrupt settings)
    3. Turn off system location services timezone and iAd
    4. Fully discharge battery  (tilll it shuts off with the spinning wheel)
    5. Fully recharge battery (overnight if possible)
In my experience this improves the Standby battery drain issue significantly in most cases.  It reduces drain from 2-4% or more per hr to 0.5% or less. It has worked for many, many users now. If it does not work after a few try's you may have a real battery or hardware issue and should contact Apple.  Good Luck!

  • IPad won't charge after (failed) iOS 5 upgrade

    Hi,
The upgrade to iOS 5 on my iPad failed during the back up stage.
Now the iPad will not not 'hold a charge'.
When plugged into either the iMac or wall charger, by a number of different cords, it starts, the apple logo displays, the home screen shows for a brief instant, and it shuts down again, indicating that there is no charge. After a few minutes, it builds up a charge, restarts, and then quits again.
I have been successful it starting it in 'restore mode', and it is recognised in iTunes and can be restored. However, the lack of charge problem returns when it is restarted.
Upgrading iPhones and an iPad2 have been previously successful.
Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to much of a coincidence that a battery problem developed during the upgrade process.
    Thanks.

Same issue here. I have 2 ipads killed by IOS7.

Finally downloaded the 7.1.2 update but I wish I hadn't. After downloading on my iPad 3, I got the "connect to iTunes screen." Once there, iTunes says my ipad is in recovery mode and i need to download a(nother) software update. 45 minutes later, after downloading the entire file, I get a file corrupter err 1403 message. • Ipad 2 not charging after ios 7 update

have tried everything, multiple attemps at restore, plugging into wall, plugging into computer, restart with plugged in, different cables(all apple), dimmed backlight, turned off find my ipad....nothing works!
Just got off a long conversation with apple, where they had no solution but to tell me that hardware fails. Great! I had a perfectly good ipad one week ago. I update to ios 7 and it is rendered useless. What a joke!
    Any solutions would be appreciated.

I do not know if it's iOS7 related or not. My 2 is still working. However, my first 2 was returned to best buy after the charging port on it died. So that can happen. ANd it happens with little to no warning. CHarges monday, doesn't on tuesday.
As far as I know the issues with 'unsigned' lightning devices is just the cable, not the power brick, but there's no official word (nor do I expect one)
Lightning cables have a little chip in them and if that chip isn't signed by Apple then your device kicks up an error but should still work.
However since this is an iPad 2, that's not the case since 2's use 30 pin chargers, not lightning.
Usually when a 2 doesn't charge, common troubleshooting is to swap out the charger, cable and outlet, to confirm or rule those out. Also to do the reset. (the soft reset that's holding down the sleep and home keys until it reboots). Also to look in and blow out the port in case there's some lint or such in there.
Usually those things fixes it. If not, then it could be the port.

  • Ipad won't sync after iOS 7.03 update: Other is huge and over capacity

When iOS7 was updated last week (7.0.3) the update went fine on my iphone 5s but was interupted on my iPad.
Now, when I connect the iPad via cable to my desktop Mac, it will not sync.  It connects to the iPad just fine, but the "changes" cannot be applied because it shows that the amount of data to be transfered to the 64GB iPad is "Over Capactiy by 31.37GB."  A total of 45.2GB of "Other" is indicated on the summary page in iTunes in a yellow band.
(A sync from the same ID, same iTunes library with the same settings, with the iPhone 5S of the same capacity (64GB) has NO trouble completing properly.  It shows only 1.62 GB of "Other."
I have tried restoring the iPad from a previous back up. No good.
I have tried restoring the iPad to a new, factory issued condition, set it up as if it were a new iPad and tried to sync.  No good.
I have changed the sync setting so that NO video or audio tracks are to be synced (freeing enough space for all of the bloated, "Other" category.)  Stiill ends up stuck perpetually in Syncing iPad - Step 4 of 4 - "Waiting for changes to be applied"
    Any suggestions?
    SERIOUSLY frustrated.

I am having the exact same issue except with the iPhone 4s.
    "Other" shows 34.88GB
I tried everything you did, short of factory reset, since I read elsewhere that won't work.
