Ipad 2 won't turn on or off and is stuck on saying it is still plugged in...help!

My ipad wouldn't update to the new ios, then lost a lot of my purchased items, and now my ipad is frozen on a screen that says its still connected to itunes when I don't even have it plugged in and my itunes wouldn't even recognize it in the first place. What should I do?

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

Ipad 4 won't turn on at all, and is recognized by itunes as being in recovery mode- when I try to restore it stalls on the portion stating "preparing device for restore" and on the page it says "itunes is restoring the software." Been like this for a day. I read the restore notes on apple, but this seems to be a little more unique than the standard recovery issues. Any ideas as to why I seem to keep stalling during the restore process?

Couple of things I can think of before going to the Apple store.
First, if you can, power off the iPad. Then connect it to the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a known good wall outlet. Leave it there at least an hour then try to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
Also, you mentioned you have the latest iTunes. But it would be good to check the actual version. If the iPad is running iOS 7 you need iTunes 11.1 or later.

Try putting the iPad into recovery mode and see if that fixes it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097

  • Itunes not seeing my ipad.  Have turned it on/off and the computer too, didn't help., Itunes not seeing my ipad.  Have turned it on/off and the computer too, didn't help.

Itunes is not recognizing my Ipad.  I tried to restore the Ipad settings when the syncing wasn't working - well Itunes was getting stuck and wasn't responding.  Now the IPad icon isn't showing up in Itunes when I connect.

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Won't turn on or off and the battery is charg

I have charged my Zen Micro MP3 via the mains using AC adapter, but I am now unable to turn it on or off by the on/off switch.
After charging it remains on, but cannot turn it off unless I remove the battery.</LI>
In order to turn it back on I have to plug it in to the mains again. </LI>
It cannot be the battery as it remains on after charging.
Apart from returning to the shop where I got it from, does anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem with my player and had to take it back to the store. I think this is a product defect. I loved the product so I will get another one to see if that was just a bad batch or if they all have this problem. If you just got it, take it back before you can get your money back! the problem gets progressi'vely worse.
As an aside however, I noticed that walmart no longer carries the Zen Micro, but only the Zen Micro Photo. Maybe there were complaints.
    Good Luck!

  • Hey, my iPod won't turn on at all and it is completely charged, yet completely dead. Please help!!!

    Hello,
My iPod is not turning on at all, even though it is completely charged. It is completely dead. PLEASE help ASAP!
    Thank you

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I keep getting an error 05 code on my t31 and turning the camera off and back on does not work.

I keep getting an error code 05 when I try to use certain modes on my Rebel T3i.  It seems as though my auto flash is stuck.  Is this a common complaint....and if so.....what is the answer to deal with this issue.  I have followed the instructions of turning the camera off and back on....to no avail.  HELP!!

    Hi Hydra171,
The Error 5 error code indicates a malfunction in the popup flash mechanism.
If this is not cleared by turning the camera off, then on, your camera will require service to correct this issue.
You may set up the repair for your camera here.

my ipad won"t turn off. there is a small window with an email text in it and it appears frozen on the screen. How can i turn the ipad off?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • I tried to update my sons iPad and now it won't turn on or off just a picture of a cable and I tunes symbol. Can it be fixed or is it broken I've seen posts saying their iPads died after doing updates.

I tried to update my sons iPad now it won't turn on or off it shows a cable and iTunes symbol tried holding down sleep button &amp; screen button but no luck does this mean it's Broken I've seen posts saying their iPad died after doing updates.

It's not broken, it just means that the iPad has gone into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
You will need to connect the iPad, via its cable, to a computer's iTunes (you will need an up-to-date version of iTunes installed on the computer), and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync the content to it.

  • TS3274 My iPad won't turn on and pressing the top button won't help

My iPad won't turn off, it was charged and suddenly turned off and won't turn on on again, I tried holding down the top button but nothing happened. What will I do?

Have you tried forcing a reboot? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. If you see the silver apple it's rebooting and it may com back that way.
