IPad 3 64 GB Epic Major Glitch

So I bought my 64 GB WIFI only iPad from best buy last night. I went home, plugged it into iTunes, registered it and all. I played games on it for about 2 hours and plugged it into my wall over night. I woke up the next morning and I opened facebook (just tapped on it) and my screen dimmed as it looked like something "scanned" over the screen, and when the bar got across it shut off. I tried turning it back on, but the apple logo just kept flashing. Whether plugged in or not it kept flashing (yes I tried the whole holding down the top button, then the home button) and all that. I finally got it to connect to say connect to iTunes, and I plugged it into my laptop. I plugged it in and it said that the iPad had already been connected to iTunes, and could restore it if I wanted. So I completely erased everything, restored it, and it worked fine for about 10 minutes. Then it did that dim screen scanning thing again, and now the process is just repeating. Any help? Should I just return it?

I'd either take it back to Best Buy -- the have an Apple store-within-a-store -- or to an Apple Genius Bar. 
Upon which you'll probably get a new one, because this sounds like something way too deep that needs "fixing" -- just replace it outright.
I MUST be VERY lucky. No problems at all. No charging issues, no yellow tinge, no wifi drops. no cellular issues. Thank God! It just rocks!

    Why did my iPad Mini screen start glitching out of no where?! Hard reset did not fix issue... Which I could barely see the display at it was.. Please help..

    Has the unit EVER been jailbroke?  Has it EVER been dropped?  Did it EVER get excessively wet?  Did you EVER load a pirated developer's version of the IOS?
    If "No" to all the above, first try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

    On iOS 8 Apple added support for third-party keyboards. Try downloading one in place of the original keyboard.
    I personally would recommend TouchPal.
    Just a little warning though - the name of the keyboard contains a T.

  • 2.2 major glitch

    Hi all,
    I've been reading a number of threads all with a similar theme and I think Apple have a major glitch with 2.2.
    A few days ago I upgraded to 2.2 after which I noticed that I couldn't make or receive calls anymore. Like a large number of contributors to the site everytime I try calling someone the 3g signal goes after the first couple of rings and then the call fails. If someone tries calling me the phone sometimes shows the number (sometimes it doesn't) but then declines the call, other times the call will go straight to voicemail.
    Now I have tried literally every suggestion made on this forum- reset, restore and create new accout, drain battery,change sim, call carrier, try sim in another phone, reinstall iTunes etc...nothing fixes this problem.
    I'm convinced it's a problem with 2.2. I want alert Apple and ask them to investigate now!!
    I'm taking my phone to a service centre tomorrow and im sure it will be gone for week, which is a major
    inconvienience that could be avoided for other users if Apple just fixed the glitch with 2.2.

    The firmware you downloaded was exactly the same as the one I downloaded and mine is working perfectly. The conflict is with something that sits on the device, or something the device is trying to communicate with. Erase all data on the phone via settings/general/reset, set up as a new phone and sync nothing at all, not one thing. If the issue continues then I believe it's a baseband software conflict, and it could be conflicting with the carriers 3G digital signal.

  • IPad Video App Subtitles Glitch

    The Video app on the iPad seems to have an issue or two with soft subtitles.
    First, the Video player disregards the size settings, or for some reason scales them down, so a subtitle track that's set to be 60 pixels high on a 640x480 video will clearly not be the same size as they are when the video is played in iTunes, it seems to be around half the size.
    This affects the width the the subtitles as well. A particularly long subtitle, the sort that wraps to two lines in iTunes, simply gets cut off on the iPad, even though there's lots of room available with the smaller subtitles. It won't wrap subtitles to two lines either, just cut them off.
    Finally, not a bug, but the behavior in Quicktime is to remember that a user has 'show subtitles' selected from video to video. iTunes and iPad Video both require that the subtitles be selected on every video. It would be nice if there was some universal toggle like there is in Quicktime.

    There is a major problem with these subtitling circus which for me is very disapointing. It is totally not Apple. Apple was always exciding customer expectations. With subtitles they stoped halfway. Sometimes QT displays subtitles beautifully, iTunes a bit worse. Then Apple TV terrible. Along came iPad which subtitles handling is a joke. Major thing is that subtitles are in such a place in the screen that you need to decide if you want to watch movie or read subtitles. No, wait. No need for decision - they are so small you can not read them anyway. I am from Poland and I heavy depend on subtitles and Apple evendid not concider adding Polish language to subtitles selection. How far it can be from German to Polish. At least closer than to cyrilic. It is crucial they fix it asap. BTW i just typed that from my iPad, not spell check so sorry to all English native speakers.     Hi, I am having a major problem with Encore CS6 on mac. Whenever I have tried to build a DVD (using a DVD+R disk in the superdrive of my MBP) it makes my screen glitch, and my computer freeze up.
    I would appreciate it if you could help me with this ASAP because I need to have this project done no later than the 20th of December.

    I'm running OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion on my mid 2012 Macbook Pro with 16Gb of Ram, and a 2.6GHz dual core i7 processor.
    What do you mean by build to a folder or image? (I'm still relatively new to Encore.)

    1. Close all inactive apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo.

    Nobody can guarantee that the glitches wil go away. In theory, resetting the iPad back to factory settings should return the iPad to out of the box condition, but if you restore a backup and the backup has problems, the glitches will come back.
    Specifically, what glitches are you talking about? Have you tried basic troubleshooting like closing all apps and resetting the iPad? Try that first, cloSE all apps and reset. If that doesn't help, post back and state what the specific problems are.
    In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • IMessage having major glitches

    I have a MacBook Pro with retina, late 2012 model, 16gb ram 2.6GHz i7 processor with a 500gb flash processor. The problem is with iMessage. Whenever I send a message, it shows the red exclamation point beside the message, and I get a drop down from the app saying "Message not sent, try again?" and so I try it again. The message pops back down and this goes on indefinitely until I click cancel. But the strange part is, if I click try again or cancel, the red exclamation mark will stay BUT the message will apparently send because the recipient tells me they get the message. When they reply to me, they tell me they also get the red exclamation mark, but it still sends to me. They say this ONLY happens when they send to me. This same problem is also occurring on my ipad mini (non retina, iOS7) and my ipod touch 4th gen. But it gets even more complicated. On my ipad, the messages will NOT sync whatsoever, even the ones that "failed to send but sent anyway" from my computer, and I cannot send messages from my ipad period. I have restarted my ipad, logged out and logged back into imessage, but nothing cures it. My ipod touch however, sporting iOS6, can sync the messages sent/recieved from my computer annddd send messages from it, even though there is still a red exclamation mark appearing on that device as well. I'm really not sure how to solve this problem, but its verry annoying, expecially when it comes in bursts (happening for a few days every week for the past few weeks). Anyone know how to solve this?

    Are you trying to use the phone in Bahrain with a supported carrier there? I suspect not. If you try to use this phone outside of Bahrain, you won't have FaceTime. This is done to prevent folks from simply crossing the border to purchase iPhones in Bahrain...FaceTime is banned in Saudi Arabia & the UAE. Sorry, but you'll only have FaceTime on that phone while using it in Bahrain on a supported carrier's network there.

  • Major glitches with Notes!

    I tried to get into using the Notes application on my Macbook, but i have experienced a number of glitches.  I got a new iPhone 4s and now the application refuses to run on my Macbook altogether if i click on "New Note."  I can click on any other note, but the instant I click on a note that i made that was called "New Note" the application closes.  Is there anything that can be done?  I like the ease of use of Notes and its simplicity, but I can't put my information on it if I can't depend on it.

    I'm assuming you're using iCloud to store your notes, since you mention your iPhone here.
    I had a somewhat different issue with Notes, but this (largely from another discussion) helped me:

    Click on mac HD/ library /caches. drag all the contents in the folder to the trash
    Click on the finder click go, hold the option key and click on libraries (will not appear if you don't hold the option key). go to the caches folder again and again drag everything in the folder to the trash.
    Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library". Then go to Containers folder and find and delete com.apple.Notes/Container.plist
    Restart your computer.
    Empty trash.
    Try to open notes again.

    I updated my iPad, and when it asked for my apple password, it said it was the WRONG password.  So, I hit the 'SKIP THIS' thinking I could go back in later.  Now the none of my internet-using apps load -- no FB, no APPS, no Apple Store --

    You need to do the updates, because they slowly improve the performance of your iPad. And soon, iOS 4.0 is coming, which you will absolutely want, because it take the iPad to a whole new world.
    I'm not even close to being an expert on Windows, not having used it in about 10 years. But I've monitored this board for a while, so here are some suggestions:
    1. Try a different USB port, if you have one. Don't use a USB hub, try to connect directly to your computer.
    2. If possible, see if your cable is damaged. It happens.
    3. Before doing this, just make sure you have complete backup files from your most recent backup. I'm not sure where to find them, but as I recall, they should be located in your iTunes files. Then, completely reset and wipe your iPad, by going to Settings, General, Reset. Again, don't even consider this if you can't find your backup locations. You might want to search these discussions with "backup AND Windows AND location" to see where they're located.
    If none of this works, go to an Apple Genius. He can plug you into a Mac to see if the iPad has a problem.
    Again, it's not the update that caused the problem, it's a corrupted file or something. You'll fix it, so don't worry.
