I am looking into getting an iPad for college uses. I already have a macbook pro and want the iPad for apps, movies and browsing as well as textbooks and note taking for classes. Should i get the iPad 3 64 GB for 499 at microcenter or the iPad 4 16 GB?

If you turned on Settings > iCloud > Find My iPad before it was stolen you can use the steps under "If Find My iPhone is enabled on your missing device" in the following link: If your iPhone, iPad, user iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support
If you had not turned on Find My iPad before it was lost, there isn't a way to locate it. There are some suggestions in the "If Find My iPhone isn't enabled" section near the bottom regarding changing passwords and other steps.

HT201210 cant restore my ipad from itunes after updating latest ios. message tells me to turn off 'find my ipad' from my ipad, but I can't because the set up is not complete without the restore. What do I do?

I don't know if I'm repeating my question. I can't restore my ipad after updating to latest ios. The battery went low, I had to eject and plug in to charge. The set up will not complete without resoring from icloud or itunes (i backed up to computer using itunes) or setting up the ipad as a New ipad. I want to restore all my stuff but the message I get in itune says "Find my ipad must be turned off before 'ipad' can be restored". Go to icloud settings on your ipad and turn off Find My iPad before restoring your iPad.". I cant' get to this setting on my ipad because the set up is not complete!!! I'm stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm afraid if I set up the ipad as new it will backup the new ipad over my previous backup and then I will loose all my photos, songs, aps, notes,......

I have the same problem and we can't simply just restore from the backup. It says that I have to set up my iPad through restoring. So I tried restoring it in iTunes but it won't restore until I have to turn off this **** "Find My iPad" crap but I couldn't because the set up's not complete and it won't let me go to my settings unless I set it up. So basically it's asking me to go to my settings but before I could go to it I have to restore, and in order to restore I have to go to settings. Get where I'm at?
Please, Apple Tech people! Help this 14 year old girl on her period, PMS-ing, thinking about how I want to strangle however made this mistake of a set up, updating her iPad in 3 am in the morning cursing the day she even thought of updating. Antenna Ipad 3 vs Ipad 2 vs Ipad 1

I recently bought my iPad 3. But I have noticed that the cellular signal is weaker than at the IPAD 2 and IPAD 1 (My dad and my sister have other Ipads). I put together in the same place and it showed clearly that the cellular signal on the iPad 3 is weaker than at the IPAD IPAD 1 and 2.
The Mobile antenna of the Ipad 3 is weaker than in the other Ipads?

I just purchased the new ipad ( 16Gb) for my wife (she used iPad I) . I was thinking about iPad 2 but when I compared the new iPad side-by-side with ipad 2 in my local Bestbuy store, I never looked back ipad 2.
I also compared iPad 2 with my original ipad and they look the same in display performance. However, the difference between ipad 2012 and ipad 2 is huge, I would say you will immediately notice the difference like day and night! What's a huge improvement. Apple does the great job.
I read a lot on tablet, ( we buy tablet to read, don't we?), so retina display is so important to me. Everything appears on the screen is much better, including sharpness/colors of pictures and letters.
The retina display alone is worth $100 difference between the two generations, IMO.
I sold my Android tablet and thinking ablout selling or giving my original ipad ( 3G) as well to buy another ipad 2012. I made a right decision to buy the new ipad for her. After looking on the retina display, I don't look elsewhere.
BTW, I don't have any issue with heating as some people complain. I watch Netflix movies and I think heating is in normal level even the ipad is enclosed by a leather case.
Better graphic display, warmer the unit is and longer to charger the battery.
If you can't spend much, then get 16G but I think ipad 3 is the way to go.

IPad 3 or iPad 2

I hope this is an appropriate question.
I bought an iPad 2 (16GB, Wi-Fi, White) for my wife about six weeks ago.
She has absolutely fallen in love with it. Me too.
We also bought Apple TV, Airport Express, and the iPad Protection Plan.
All very impressive.
Now I want to get an iPad for me. And I'd like some help picking the right one.
Things I'm pretty sure about:
1. I want the largest memory size available.
2. Wi-Fi Only (I should have a phone that can provision Wi-Fi).
3. I'll be traveling with the iPad. On planes, in cars, in hotels.
4. I'm the picture taker in the family. I have a Pentax Optio W80 camera.
    I love that I can stick that camera in my shirt pocket.
5. I do capture short videos from time to time. We foster parent service
     dogs and we video their training for our lead trainer. I post those to Facebook.
6. I had cataract surgery on my right eye a while ago. My vision is excellent with glasses.
    I have transitional bi-focals. And a dedicated pair of computer glasses. I also use
     the computer glasses when I read. I like to read at about arms length which is what
     the computer glasses are set to. I do struggle a bit more after the surgery to find
     the 'sweet spot' in the transitionals.
7. I enjoy reading and movies.
8. I love music. I have 3,000 songs (16GB) on iTunes on my pc.

Hi I am planning on getting a ipad but idk if I should get the secound or third generation. I plan to use it for games,reading,and movies stuff like that.

IPad 4 or iPad Mini for school?

I was thinking of getting an iPad for school and wondered which iPad i should choose. Going to create presentations on my laptop but use the iPad for taking notes, checking the internet, write (with a keyboard) and then read books, check news, play some games (maybe), watch youtube and netflix. So which one should i pick? iPad 4 or iPad Mini.

IPad 2 or iPad mini? ASAP

Which to buy? iPad 2 or iPad mini?
I already own an iPhone 4S which will be used for all my music, texting, FaceTime, Taking photos and shooting videos. The iPad will be taken basically everywhere as my iPhone's companion, it will be used for things such as heavy web browsing, YouTube, Gaming, Movies & reading of magazine subscriptions etc.
iCloud will be used so 16gb storage is fine. WiFi model is fine as i will tether my iPhone when on the go and internet is available at home.
All I am really asking, based on my needs; should i buy the iPad 2 or iPad mini?
The $399 price point is as high as i will go at the moment.

Apple does not currently sell a new 64GB iPad 2; only a 16GB model. Do you really need a 64GB model? The iPad 4 has more features than the iPad 2 and is much faster. Since this is a user to user forum, and not Apple employees, we have no way to know Apple's plans for iOS 7.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.
